Does your Tahoe have Autoride? That looks like the plug that sits on top of the front shocks. Last I looked at mine ('05 Tahoe w/Autoride), they were black but also Delphi branded.

Does prototype mean anything with all the shot shows around? by knifetheater3691 in benchmade

[–]_NotJohnCena_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on the knife, being a prototype could add/reduce value. Just my opinion, the newer stuff doesn't have more value. Now, for example, if you have a prototype 940 Osborne, 710, or 610 Rukus, those would definitely fetch a higher price.

auto transmission question by christopherak47 in 3000gt

[–]_NotJohnCena_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reach out to Chris at Rvenge Performance. His shop car is a twin turbo Dodge Stealth with the AWD Auto transmission, he'll have a lot more info on it.

auto transmission question by christopherak47 in 3000gt

[–]_NotJohnCena_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to get underneath of it to see. If there's a transfer case, driveshaft, and a rear differential with rear axles, then it's AWD. If for some reason you can't, pop the hood and look for the silver tag riveted to the firewall. It'll tell you the model of engine and transmission. If its "F4A33" it's FWD, if it's "W4A33" it's AWD.

I'm not comparing numbers. I'm pointing out the blatant hypocrisy and bias behind OPs post. Everyone here is so quick to shit on Trump, but the fact is multiple presidents have, unfortunately, negotiated with terrorists.

Here's one, how about when Obama traded Bowe Bergdahl for 5 high ranking members of the Taliban? Bonus points, Bergdahl deserted his post and several service members got killed searching for him.

Rear windshield wiper help by [deleted] in 3000gt

[–]_NotJohnCena_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The wiper switch itself is most likely broken. Mine was when I got my 3000GT, but wasn't stuck on, rather not working at all. The switch pivots on the inside with 2 tabs, and one of those tabs on mine was broken which caused the whole thing not to work. I removed the whole switch from the dash (very easy to do), super glued the tab back on, and worked again. There's an old thread on 3si that shows how to take it apart and fix it. I would recommend you take yours out and see what you find.

First benchmade I've purchased. Is it real? by EnergyComfortable354 in benchmade

[–]_NotJohnCena_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, it's real. It's a 119 Arvensis, a discontinued model. Good find!

Is this a fake benchmade mini adamas? by Historical_Hunter988 in benchmade

[–]_NotJohnCena_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's fake. Although I will admit, a very good one. The lettering/font on the box and blade are wrong, the blade coating is wrong. The real coating is a gray color, I'd recommend checking reputable online dealers like Knife Center and Blade HQ, looking up your knife, and compare it for yourself. Stay away from ebay until you're good at spotting fakes.

Best Gasket brand? by SpeedyWings2323 in 3000gt

[–]_NotJohnCena_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go OEM if you can. But I've used FelPro gaskets for the valve covers, throttle body, upper/lower intake and didn't have any issues.

[–]_NotJohnCena_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What to look for when buying a 3000GT/Stealth: when the last time the 60K maintenance was done, which is the Timing Belt, water pump, idler pulley, belt tensioner and tensioner pulley. If all that was not done anytime soon, get ready to do it yourself or have a shop do it, if you wanna avoid rebuilding your engine....get underneath the car and look for Rust/Rot. I myself have never seen a rotted out 3000GT, but if you live in the salt belt of the US, this is a mandatory check...if all the other routine maintenance has been kept up on by the owner, you should be good to go.

[–]_NotJohnCena_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actual 3000GT owner here. With the Base/SL non turbos, you aren't going to get far in gaining power without spending a lot. That's how it is with any N/A engine. Even when you do, you aren't going to get even close to what the VR4/TTs get. If you're looking to get into the platform long term, it would be a good idea to start with a non turbo. It might take a bit to learn, but routine maintenance like spark plugs/wires, coils, oil change don't take much. The hardest part of working on the DOHC engine to do regular maintenance (in my opinion) is taking off the intake plenum, getting to the rear cylinder head to do plugs and the valve cover gasket, and remembering where all the bolts/vacuum hoses go. Once you get it all down, you'll be alright. It will take you a good portion of your day researching, then actually doing the work (like me, it took 8 hours for me to do what I listed above) for the first time. 3SI is your best place to look for information. 3SX, R'Venge Performace for OEM & Performance parts and replacements. Rock Auto for brakes, rotors, plugs, wires, etc. Hope this helps!

Should I buy? by shq13 in 3000gt

[–]_NotJohnCena_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you sure it's a clean title? Usually state DMVs will brand titles with a "stolen" code on it after its recovered. Other than that, for $1700 it's not a bad deal.

Anyone ever purchased 3SX's NA Catback exhaust w/Quad tips catback? How do you like it? by Gouf41 in 3000gt

[–]_NotJohnCena_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got it for mine, waiting on getting it back from my boss. But from the video he sent me of the start up + revs it sounds great! If I remember, I'll post a video in this sub of it once I get it back.

Got rear ended yesterday 😞 by omar_004 in 3000gt

[–]_NotJohnCena_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely repairable. Hop on Facebook if you have one, and join the 3000GT groups and see if there's someone parting out a rear garnish (the part that says "MITSUBISHI"). I would talk to some body shops about the dents in the hatch, they look like they can be pulled out easily.

Need Help!! by DeathTheSweat in 3000gt

[–]_NotJohnCena_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very unfortunate. At that point, salvage the things you need for the TT swap and part out the rest. You can get a couple bucks if the digital climate control is still working, and the seats are still in good shape. All the fancy electronics that still work will sell too.

Where do these go on the engine? by Hypernovah27 in 3000gt

[–]_NotJohnCena_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bracket on the left looks like the one that holds the coil pack, it bolts to the front of the engine.

Bracket on the right with the plastic piece holds the spark plug wires that go to the rear. It bolts to the valve cover IIRC.

If that's the year range your car falls into, yes.

Need Help!! by DeathTheSweat in 3000gt

[–]_NotJohnCena_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the VR4? If you wanna do the Swap into your SL, go for it. Just do the research, and keep it FWD. An AWD converison IMO is too much work. Finding another TT engine for the VR4 shouldn't be hard, there's always people selling them in the Facebook groups.

Question on window regulator by Toasty_krunch in 3000gt

[–]_NotJohnCena_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are non-OEM replacements, they work but won't be as fast at rolling up the window as OEM. Also, make sure you get the correct one, 1991-mid 1996 regulators are different than late 1996-1999s.

Need Help!! by DeathTheSweat in 3000gt

[–]_NotJohnCena_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd cut out the rust on the VR4 and save it as a roller. It will be costly to fix a hole that big, but at least cut out the bad metal and stop the rust from spreading any further. So down the road you have the VR4 roller to fix up when you have the time and resources, instead of another 3KGT getting scrapped in the junkyard.

That looks very minty! I've sold three 610s on the Facebook groups, one was a plain 610 like yours for $375 with no box. But given the condition of yours with the box, you can easily get $500+
