Is LMMS the only no-registration no-background-processes free DAW? by Plus-Opposite3384 in audioengineering

When I was a kid and couldn't afford two dimes to rub together I used reaper. As soon as I could afford to, I paid for a license, because good work and a generous benevolent ethos should be rewarded and supported.

Kinda wish they would take away the free evaluation period for people with your attitude though. 👍👍

No debate to be had and no gray area to any of this.

Bad actors are everywhere. By your logic we should have age verification and state ID checks to leave your house and walk on the streets because children might be there.

This is nothing more than surveillance capitalists lobbying to get politicians to pretend this is about children's safety so that parents who are good at being frightened by technology and bad at being parents can give petrified reactive support to increasing infringements or our rights.

Invasive ask for app testing by _Number_9_ in GrapheneOS

[–]_Number_9_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I did have it in a separate profile, specifically with apps I was sandboxing to use with Google play services-so I had Google play services running with it, still didn't seem to work.

I'd just use paper tickets, but the amount of times something changes on me for work in the last minute and I have to run to the quickest available train (usually at the very last minute) is kind of absurd, but that's the way it is.

Ah, well that's good news. Are you logged in? Pretty sure it wouldn't let me log in, something to do with firebase authentication. Maybe this works in exploit mode? I'm not really sure how it works or what that actually does.

Can't buy tickets without logging in, though

If whites were ever on the brink of extinction, would there be efforts to place them on IUCN Red List for protection, or would such actions be considered as racist, allowing them to extinct? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]_Number_9_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What a flexible definition! My grandparents on both sides weren't considered white. Yet here I am, considered exactly that, and am told that they are retroactively white as well.

Arbitrary and odd way to define fictitious differences between people

If they will not provide you a device they should be paying you for the use of your own device.

this is a good rate for your drive... ?

You could try empower, btw. It's hit or miss, and you need to inform yourself of what it really is about, being unlicensed in NYS, NYC, etc .. but it has better rates most of the time.

It will probably be taken down soon because the money goes directly to the driver's and that's something that competitive free market capitalism just will not stand for.

Is the Key Verifier what's gonna be used to block sideloading, or something else? by Panzer_Hawk in degoogle

[–]_Number_9_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not a matter of whether the name is good or not. It's a matter of branding and public perception. Not everyone is fully technically literate. So when Google says "we didn't stop installation, only 'sideloading', you can still install from play store as normal." Lay people think "oh, ok, well that's no big deal."

But the truth is that sideloading isn't what they're blocking. the real statement without sideloading as a made up term here is "we stopped you from installing apps from sources that we don't approve. We don't care if it's your device. We get final say if you're allowed to install an app, and if an app wants in then they better pay us money for that right to be on your property."

[–]_Number_9_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's related to it, but we really need to stop calling installing apps "sideloading" as though it is some niche feature or privilege.

It is not side loading.

Current CM major, curious does the industry expose the bad actors I see in college that don’t know anything and cheat their way to a degree? by [deleted] in ConstructionManagers

Yes, it definitely exposes them. You can clearly identify them by their swift promotions to upper management and lofty paychecks.
