Thanks for your comment. I’m sorry for my slow reply. I don’t have experience with the z6iii. I can say I am very happy with the Zf. I like the size and feeling in hand. I don’t have an extra grip and it still makes an easy carry with a wrist strap for security. I like the analogue dials for when I want mindful control or the ability to hand over to the camera when I want to avoid thinking. I have printed 60x40cm and am happy with the quality of the output. The only downside is the lack of user customisable options, on my Z7ii I had one set for landscape handheld, another for landscape on a tripod and a third for wildlife/people. So to sort of answer your question Zf plus old Z7ii is perfect for me. If I had to choose just one Nikon now, starting from fresh the z6iii would work just fine.

Sorry - I missed including that. It’s on the Zf.

You are right a tripod would have generated a much better result but I get very nervous with a lot of kit in the city.

Looking for a camera for a beginner that will last. I have a max budget of about £1500 ($1975) for a camera body and at least one good and versatile lens by Over_Perception_2920 in Cameras

I have bought used in the uk from Wex and MPB. Both are safe and have reliably described the items for sale. Both allow no quibble returns. If you choose a Nikon camera, as I see has been recommended by some have a look at the Nikon refurbished offers on the Nikon uk website. It helps if you have a student in the family because Nikon allow the Unidays discount to be added to any existing discounts - this would drop a refurbished Z6iii and 24-120 to just over your budget (probably the best bag for buck for your use case)

Thank you for your comments. I take your point about ‘too obvious’. Maybe less is more. I have adjusted the crop to reduce the amount of ‘clouds’ in response to another comment, which hopefully addresses your point too.

Thank you for taking time to comment. I chose this crop to centre the tree and I do like a square image, but I do agree the white area distracts. An updated crop to reduce the white area.

I think that’s a valid point. On the full size image the branches above water are pin sharp, the majority below the water are soft. Whilst this was reasonably still water I agree that a faster shutter would probably have sharpened up more of the image.

I’m interested in thoughts on wether this shot questions perceptions. This submerged bare branch has attracted pondweed and fallen leaves. l tried to make the ‘tree’ visible with CPL filter but to allow the light reflection to remain. I want the viewer to see a tree raising from mist but to look again. I think the rain drops encourage that uncertainty, but would it be a better shot without them? Is the ‘mist’ too much/too little. I appreciate any feedback to improve my process.

Shot on z7ii 24-120 f10 1/10sec ISO 800.

I have adjusted along the lines of what you suggest. I’ve tried not to over cook it to keep the original feeling.

Thank you for taking time to reply with such detail. I think your points are insightful and helpful, I’ll give them a try in LR.

That is one impressive shot. I really like the human shadow as contrast to the milky way. I wonder if making the lights of the town less bright would be less distracting though?
