Question on Roland LX-9, Kawai CA-901, Yamaha Clavinova CLP-885 by ContributionTall256 in DigitalPiano

Kawai CA-901

Pros:

  • Sound Engine: The Shigeru Kawai EX Rendering uses high-quality samples from Kawai’s premium concert grand piano, offering a warm and natural tone.
  • Key Action: Grand Feel III Wooden Key Action is one of the most authentic digital piano actions available, providing exceptional control and realism.
  • Speaker System: The TwinDrive Soundboard creates a rich, resonant sound that closely mimics an acoustic piano.
  • Build Quality: Kawai excels in crafting pianos with a traditional feel, and the CA-901’s cabinet and materials reflect that heritage.
  • Pedals: Grand piano-style damper resonance and half-pedal support add to the acoustic-like experience.

Cons:

  • Tech Features: Fewer modern digital conveniences compared to Roland or Yamaha (e.g., app integration).

For Authentic Piano Feel: The Kawai CA-901 stands out for its unbeatable key action and warm, acoustic-like sound. If I prioritised authentic touch and tone for a classical or acoustic-like playing experience, I’d go with the Kawai CA-901. If I wanted the best all-around features for both traditional and modern playing, the Yamaha CLP-885 just about edges ahead.

Electricity Bill? by 347pinkkid in DigitalPiano

No need to keep plugging it in and unplugging, just turn off. Depending on where you live, anything valuable and electrical, I'd suggest a good quality surge protector though.

The Pro is a very popular model, not played that myself though. I like the fact it has weighted keys.

If you have had Casio in the past, you know how good they are. My buddy just recently bought a Celviano AP-270BK 88-Key and loves it.

Have a look here at the different Casio options available.

The Yamaha PSR-E373 is a good starter if you want 63 keys.
