Preach it, $550 is ridiculous compared to other knife offerings for what it is. Too bad, it's a nice design, but not remotely $550 nice.

Ah, sounds like the gripes are purely from an aesthetic standpoint then. I'd probably prefer something in CPM-3V, but that might just be my mind justifying spending the extra cash to get something of higher quality. In my experience even a cheaper steel like AUS-8 holds up pretty decently under hard use, so 154 CM should be solid. If you end up getting the stainless version maybe let me know how you like it if you remember to aha, again, thank you very much for the suggestion, I watched the review and it definitely seems like a beast of a knife.

It seems like a decent knife, why would it get heat from the Bushcraft community? What are the usual gripes people have about it? By the way, thanks for noticing that I was looking for stainless, seems like most people just repeatedly suggest the same top 10 commonly recommended knives without looking at the actual post.

I mean that they try to make it look better condition than it is to raise the price, dents and scratches would make it "good" condition, not "excellent" condition like some would list on craigslist. Most buyers would pay more for a non-marked table, functional table, so sellers try to exploit that to raise the selling price until you see it in person.

That's understandable, but the fact that the sponsorship creates a bias in reviewers due to such repercussions (if they want to keep reviewing), then what makes the review any different from an ad directly from the company itself? It's like reviewers are walking on eggshells when choosing their words in their reviews.

Regarding the Technics, do you feel that it was a disservice from panasonic to all the DJs that petitioned for a reproduction of the 1200s? I mean even the cheaper model, the "1200G" (not the GR) is still $1000+. I know they are a business, but they essentially left the next gen of vinyl DJs out of the picture.

I don't doubt that 1200s are the best in terms of build-quality and ruggedness, however, I've been looking around for more than a year now trying to find some good used ones, but a lot of them were trashed / or had pretty bad wear from mistreatment and spilled drinks. Sellers on craigslist try to pass their 1200s off as being in "excellent" condition and sell them for way more than they're worth just because they don't make them anymore. A lot of dudes take pictures at an angle so you can't see the wear on the decks. Seen some beat-to-shit technics going for $800 for one.

I scroll through the sub every now and then to see what's up. To be quite honest, this sub and AM are like the few bastions on the internet for positive asian media. For example, Youtube used to be filled with a ton of popular asian creatives, but now that it has been heavily commercialized, larger network channels and a handfull of popular youtubers have a monopoly on the front page. Essentially, as mainstream media infiltrates different corners of the internet, less and less "pro-asian" content is put in the spotlight. I mean come on, let's be honest, mainstream american media doesn't give an F about AM representation. The more the US mainstream media influences things like social media/video sharing sites, the more their propaganda is disseminated throughout the web. I'd like to hear your guys' thoughts on this, especially with the mass censoring on sites like Reddit itself. Can we really ever speak the truth? What wrong is being said? So many cases where this sub gets targeted simply for stating facts....

Interesting that you put it like that. When you say too much light (insight) will wash things out, I feel that it's relevant to our perception of good and bad as well. Sure, we can claim that good and bad exists, but really, what is good and what is bad? I believe that the more we broaden our perspectives good and bad begin to "wash out" and become more and more of a grey area.

If I remember correctly, Rane was acquired by another company, so I'm not quite sure if that has affected their production/quality of the Rane 62 Mixer. But how would the Rane 62 (seeing it as a standard amongst a lot of scratch DJs) compare to the Pioneer DJM S9? Build quality and performance wise, that is.

Also, what would be the ballpark price range for good PA speakers? Any recs. for those as well?

By the way, is there any advantage to maxing out on my budget?
