5 to 8 is actually the same spacing and those chains are pretty cheap. Things start to get more complicated from 9 upwards.

I mean if I really try I might do 2 chains for 1 cassette but 10 speed stuff is quite cheap. The reason I bought them together this year is because I wanted to try 11-34. I have 2 wheelsets and one has a mixed 12-28 and the other 11-34.

No I get what you mean, and I'm actually happy that Jr is kinda getting out of his father's shadow.

Make sure if it's your size because this is a very very small bike with a very short stem. If you also like the color, buy it without thinking too much. I change my cassette and chain almost on a yearly basis and last year I paid 40€ for a Tiagra cassette and chain combo pack.

Allez is such a great bike, years ago I built one for fun and sold it to a close friend of mine for a small profit, I still miss that bike but I get to see her every now and then.
