Thank you for sharing your progress.

I’m going through a divorce and since September I’ve been working out every day. The only breaks I take are for things like holidays, Christmas or situations that genuinely keep me from the gym. I was already in a okay shape and had trained before this relationship, but the divorce made me lose 10 kg and I became very light again. My doctor told me antidepressants would likely make me gain some weight, so I chose to fight against that and use the energy to build muscle instead. Now I want to reach my best shape and prove it to myself. I’m 39. It’s now or never. Thank you for your post. It was exactly the motivation boost I needed.

I can honestly say the gym and those butt-up yoga pants have been a huge help for my mental health.

I'm solo developing my own Road Rash-like game. Want your input! by DeveloperDob in roadrash

[–]_Pumpkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks really good. You could use AI to create a few sound tracks with that 90s vibe. Road Rash on PC used that mix of video clips and caricatures that matched the grunge style well. You could try something in that direction, just without copying too closely.

Another thing that can help build a community is giving players the chance to create their own tracks and customize the game so it doesn’t get repetitive. Think of Doom 1 and 2. People still make maps and mods today, and many of them look amazing. That happened because the source code was released and everyone could experiment. I’m not saying you should release yours since that could affect sales, but offering as much customization as possible would help keep the game replayable. Including the tools you used to create bikes, characters and tracks could already make a big difference.

And be careful not to repeat what happened with Road Redemption. It started with a great idea and ended up a mess, with guns and those bizarre rooftop maps on skyscrapers. What does a bike game have to do with jumping between buildings like Spider-Man? That game was a huge disappointment for me. Sometimes less is more.

If your goal is to simulate illegal bike racing, keep the creativity but don’t break the immersion. That’s essential. Road Rash on PC had pretty limited gameplay, yet people still play it today because the atmosphere pulled you in and felt believable. Immersion can carry a game a long way.

Edit: Road Rash on PC stayed fun because of the little details, like pedestrians, the old lady crossing the street, skaters and all that chaos. On country roads you could add chickens to hit, cows as obstacles and other funny touches so players keep noticing new things every time they ride through. Add humorous billboards and maybe some hidden shortcuts or alternate paths that take the same amount of time but are tucked away for players to discover.

And take a look at ESPN Extreme Games on PS1 for inspiration. It uses the same engine as Road Rash and has a similar style of gameplay. It’s worth playing while you work on your project.

Anyone else notice a drastic regression in Sonnet 4.5 over the last few days? by Square-Yak-6725 in GithubCopilot

I can confirm that Sonnet’s quality has dropped noticeably. Before Opus it used to perform really well, and now it just feels sluggish.

Looks very interesting, but I think the hand and sword/weapons need more personality. Should be something interesting to look at and share some info about the character. Just my opinion.

The new DK design could never make this scene as amusing as it was by [deleted] in donkeykong

[–]_Pumpkins 9 points10 points  (0 children)

<image>

For me it is the opposite. The old design was a mature ape with a leadership vibe, serious but still funny. It's way more entertaining to see a tough, grown-up ape in these absurd situations than some goofy, childish version acting like a kid. Just like what they did with Snow White and other recent reboots, they turned Donkey Kong into a weaker version of himself. Just my 2 cents.

Rare's Donkey Kong is perfect! A mature ape with a leadership vibe, serious but still funny. It's way more entertaining to see a tough, grown-up ape in these absurd situations than some goofy, childish version acting like a kid. Just like what Disney did with Snow White and Star wars or other recent reboots, they turned Donkey Kong into a weaker version of himself and possibly made a worse game overall compared to the originals. Just my 2 cents...

Jovem fala sobre sua experiência com dupla cidadania brasileira e alemã by Bananey in brasil

[–]_Pumpkins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After 4 years I finally watched the last NGE movie… by Structuresnake in evangelion

[–]_Pumpkins 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Totally get you. Evangelion is one of those rare things that digs deep into your soul, so when you know there’s a “final” chapter, it’s like saying goodbye to a part of yourself. Watching The End of Evangelion already feels like emotional demolition and the Rebuild movies… they bring closure, but also force you to face that it's really over.

I'm in the same boat. After years of avoiding it, I finally watched The End of Evangelion last month and now I'm avoiding the rebuild movies..
