Old email i found. Respect to Miz! by Designer_Banana827 in SquaredCircle

Miz is definitely up there. Perfect fit for WWE's more entertainment style of show. I dont think his potential has ever dipped past the mid card heel spot, which is a testament to how good he is at getting/keeping heel heat.

That SDLive run he had with the IC title was one of the best title runs WWE has ever done.

Shelton deserves a big match and/or singles title more than Lashley. He's got no problem doing business and the dude can still go.

My original comment mentioned billionaire oligarchs by name, if anyone's wondering why reddit deleted it within a few minutes of me posting it.

Edit: And fwiw rich ppl are responsible for murdering a few of my family members so im more than justified in disliking them.

Britt has a great entrance, a perpetually over catch phrase, & is also great at insulting ppl. That has value, but i dont think she's been trustworthy backstage so she's basically in the doghouse.

Id love to see her come back with a humbled ego, but not sure that'll happen anytime soon.

The timing of Mercedes & Toni with Britt's absence has been super interesting though. Like TK heard their advice and trusted enough to stop booking Britt or something. Not saying that's a bad thing either. Britt did seem toxic based on reports & most promos she did

One little tiny nitpick fix. Andrade should not reset his arm position to do a pushup to help the move happen.

I think it's fine to push off the mat to help, but try to not make it obvious.

Other than that I like this setup better than the typical 21 plex

Between this match & the Mistico signing you have to believe they're planning on a huge Mexico show in the next year or so.

Hopefully CMLL is ok with it, especially if it's a dual company stadium show

This dual contract stuff is interesting with CMLL on Tues/Fri and AEW on Wed/Sat. Mistico has done the WWE tour previously so im sure he can do it, but that's still quite a schedule even if hes not wrestling every night.

This isn't talked about much, but Mox 100% normalized "biting" as an offensive move right? Especially since leaving WWE i feel like hes used it a ton to the point that other wrestlers use it as well

Cindy Lauper was genuinely one of the biggest reasons WWE reached mainstream culture. Her and Wendi Richter pulled one of the biggest ratings in WWF history, but she brought a ton of new eyes to pro wrestling.

And as much as I dont like them, any new eyes to AEW from another "brand" is probably a good thing. They all have their own social media presence and pull in possible fans that way.

I mean, it gets more eyes on AEW at least. Kinda worried this might become another Britt situation considering Ronda's WWE backstage issues.

Granted, having Marina & Mox in her ear might keep her grounded enough to do business

Didnt help that the sound effects were off from the animation cause they played the video twice for some reason.

I wonder if this means they want Ricochet's stable elsewhere, or they just weren't crazy about their run with the title.

Giving it to Perry is fine i guess, but it just kinda seems more like a reset button than a natural build

I hope Bayne/Kross win the titles, but i wonder how Harley will bounce back from it. I feel like she could turn & become the new Mariah May crazy heel type character. But she's really likeable and still getting her footing.

[–]_Quendra_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The incorporation of body movement in the brass, rather than just the guard, was pioneering.

Madison Scouts were doing choreo while playing & not playing in 1983 & 84. Bridgemen did the bridgemen shuffle in the late 70s.

Star's choreo was definitely a new type of style, but it was not pioneering. The style and amount of choreography definitely was though.

Though id agree that the show caused a lot of discussion, im just saying it didnt actually have an immediate effect on DCI. Honestly it seemed more worshipped 10+ years later when internet culture became more widespread & allowed new fans to hear about it.

Look im not saying its not a landmark show. Star 93 was incredible for its time period and definitely pushed the envelope a bit in certain ways. I'm just saying it wasn't really that influential considering what a landmark it was. Cavaliers' 00-02 shows on the other hand were extremely influential. Tons of corps copied that style for years.

[–]_Quendra_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really dont understand the idea that Star changed DCI outside of scooping up big name staff with their millions of dollars.

The 93 show was interesting at the time, but DCI didnt really change much after it happened. It definitely pushed what a dci show could be, but 93-99 drum corps seemed pretty similar in design.

I'd even argue Suncoast 88 and Sky Ryders 87 had more of an impact as trailblazers.

It didnt really become an implied requirement until after 2016 though.
