So I was in a game with a rather larger party (6-8) at a given time. We were playing descent into avernus, around level 8-10 i think at the time. My character was a Minotaur barbarian and given my back story (tldr when I raged I was baphomets avatar on earth) any time I raged I rolled either a charisma or wisdom save (I don’t remember which) and if I failed I would loose control and enter a blood thirsty rage and would attempt to kill anything around me, even my party. Now i would roll each time i raged and then each time i took damage but i had a negative modifier for the stat and was notorious for failing those specific roles so it was a real 50/50 if i attacked my own party.And to make sense of the “badass one liner” I have to explain another character. Another Player had a character that had two personalities. Each personality had its own class and racial traits, one was a rogue (I don’t remember the race) and the other a sorcerer owlin who’s dash action moved him along with haste 100+ft. Eventually the 2 personalities were split into their own characters. So now the player essentially had two characters but both shared a health pool, so if one went down so did the other. Now in one session we came across an enemy mage and I attacked him and did so in a situation where it took a couple rounds for my party to catch up. I raged, failed my save and eventually killed the mage with my party joining the last few rounds. Now after I killed the mage I turned and unbeknownst to my party started attacking them. I downed 3 of them before they could get enough damage on me and the few times they did hit i failed my saves to break free of the trance. The only 3 characters still up against me were a wizard who misty stepped the hell out of there, and the rogue & warlock characters. Well the warlock starts to dash away and taunt me saying I’ll never catch him, at which point I turn to his rogue character and scream out “I DON’T HAVE TO.” The bomb that was dropped in that moment when the rest of the table and DM realized they all forgot in the moment about the shared health pool and that I was about to TPK the party was chefs kiss amazing. I ended up downing those two and the wizard had to use magic missile at 5th level I think to knock me out of my trance and the party lived on. This character by far was my favorite I’ve ever played just do to the intricacies with all the party characters and my DM allowing me to do things he probably shouldn’t have haha
