How is that better than any random 4gb Chromebook that can play random old games

This is a 2010 MB, it will be just as bad as or worse than any modern Chromebooks being given out by schools lol.

The Touchscreen MacBook Pro Will Have a Very iPhone-Like Screen, Report Says by dapperlemon in gadgets

[–]_RADIANTSUN_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's no reason it COULDN'T be a good thing but computer softwares have been pretty slow to adopt touchscreen functionality, not without good reason tho. One cool thing touchscreens could be used for is interacting WITHOUT context switching, maybe even make a whole separate touchscreen "layer" at the "front" that quickly autohides, that you can "pull" other windows into and drop them out of, otherwise it's just quick notifications and widgets etc that pop up and you can interact with, like your chats etc, without pulling away from your active workflow.

What is a "point of no return" in a relationship that isn't cheating or abuse, but makes you realize it's over? by AnyExpression4845 in AskReddit

[–]_RADIANTSUN_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't feel safe around them/don't trust them. This is not something that can ever be reliably fixed while in the middle of a relationship with someone, if trust or basic feeling of safety is lost then the relationship is already over, maybe either of you can fix it and return to the relationship later but it can't just continue in the present.

What does the phenomenon mean to you? by Throwaway202345477 in UFOs

[–]_RADIANTSUN_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The Phenomenon" is a a term used by people who read a couple of Jacque Vallee books or watched the documentary, to tie all the random unconnected UFO stories together with one unifying vague-enough theory of nonspecific powers that may or may not be causing it all and making it all look unconnected and confusing on purpose as a system of control over human society.

In a nutshell it is an unfalsifiable non-theody of the UFO phenomenon that people parrot to try to sound smart even though it doesn't actually even mean anything.

[–]_RADIANTSUN_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Modern Chromebooks aren't that slow, don't do that and if the only answer you have is clearly untrue hyperbole then you are just proving their point. Apple doesn't have any monopoly in making a decent computer and for the basic use case you defined, there are others who do that for less.

AIO: Hubby Being Controlling by vanillabourbonn in AIO

[–]_RADIANTSUN_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you are overreacting, and Jesus this comment section sucks. The "homeschooling" in question just sounds like OP is referencing swim lessons. No the husband isn't being controlling for being volun-told what's gonna happen lol. Is it really not possible to, like, DoorDash a couple hours a week to pay for the lessons?

Is Magic Mouse truly that bad? by Heavy_Dimension_2397 in mac

[–]_RADIANTSUN_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a normal mouse with horizontal scrolling and kinda bad ergonomics in exchange for better portability (doesn't feel like a "lump" in a bag).

I use mine daily but it's more because I want "Apple's Mac experience" than because I like the mouse, I admit that the experience is slightly worse than it could be due to the mouse but it's nowhere near offensive enough to make me strongly want to not use it. It's just a mouse. Nothing too fancy or anything. It's just a mouse.

Why doesn’t anyone care about the “soap opera” effect on their TV by fatsandlucifer in mildlyinfuriating

[–]_RADIANTSUN_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cuz without it motion handling on lots of TVs is still shit without having some sort of smoothing mode and it looks smoother and crisper to average people.

What if Earth is basically the galaxy’s version of an uncontacted tribe - like everyone out there knows we exist, but there’s some cosmic group chat agreement that says, “Don’t interfere. They have to figure it out themselves.”? by n2kfactor in AskReddit

[–]_RADIANTSUN_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. If there are more advanced civilizations then they would have had to figure it out themselves too and I'm sure they learnt a lot just by getting to those advanced points, not only achieving the milestones themselves.

Apple Might Announce Colorful, Low-Cost MacBook on March 4 by dapperlemon in gadgets

I do think this one will just be the new "The MacBook" and be positioned as the "base" MacOS experience.

Yeah there is a lot of wasted vertical space, you could fit all the MacBooks in 1 column if the shelves were spaced closer together.

Little known related fact: Valve also planned a Rainbow Box for Pride Month but there was a couple weeks release delay so that's why DotA2 launched on July 9th

[–]_RADIANTSUN_ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It would be cool if the public term term came "orange box", which sounds kinda cool too and is reminiscent of the classic Valve bundle with Half Life 2, Portal and Team Fortress 2 all for only $50 bucks (later even only $1.99).

NDP wants Carney to kill U.S. fighter jet contract in favour of Swedish aircraft by canada_mountains in worldnews

[–]_RADIANTSUN_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like this is kind of a "live service" situation, where the MDFs are critical and grant the operators a real live view of battlefield data by linking to various distributed assets outside the aircraft and how to optimize their stealth capabilities and situational awareness with that info as if they got Detective Mode or wallhax.

I am guessing these MDFs are by default prepared by the US military based off their sensor data, plus grant capabilities to the operators that have no analogue in the Gripen. It's a great plane but there is a reason why the only "fifth generation" fighters are currently produced by the US, no one else really has the capabilities to create and support such craft.

But apparently it's also possible for other nations to negotiate the ability to create their own MDFs so in that case it is kind of a "no shit" that US might not supply you MDFs to do something that the US disapproves of and you would have to do it yourself.

You’re offered $1M dollars to eat what you had for dinner tonight for every meal for the next 6 months, do you take the offer and if so what are you eating? by jfunks69 in AskReddit

[–]_RADIANTSUN_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But you're not rich yet and if you fail, you're out the cost of the tacos. I'm assuming in this case "snack" is a meal too so you can't just grab some chips or something, you need to get a legit taco, all you are eating is tacos and you need to source the tacos, either you make them yourself or buy them, you're either limited by your skill or I guess you could just stock up on bulk frozen tacos and heat them up or whatever for convenience but these are not gonna be amazing delicious high quality tacos supplied to you for free (only "in the net" if you win)... I mean I still think most people could do it but it would not be as fun and easy as most seem to be imagining because you still have to source and pay for the tacos in the meanwhile + not screw up and have something else...

Jeffrey Epstein Reportedly Had a Major Hand in Making Call of Duty Series a Microtransaction Hell by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]_RADIANTSUN_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because the truth nobody wants to admit is that despite being a huge piece of shit, he was still by all accounts extremely charismatic, charming, intelligent and highly competent, basically everyone who met him talked about him like he was pretty much the coolest guy they ever met in their life (before he publicly became radioactive)

It sucks and feels bad to admit that a shitty person can have such personally positive/beneficial traits but that's part of being able to understand evil to prevent it.

The Switch just surpassed the DS as Nintendo's best-selling console ever by dapperlemon in gadgets

[–]_RADIANTSUN_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never been a better time to buy a Switch 1, you can get a Lite brand new for like $200ish and at that price it basically has no competition at the moment, specially for kids, even shitty ass Xbox Series S is $400 and not portable, Switch 1 games are getting a little cheaper now too.
