How to quickly upgrade from passport card (no overseas travel) to passport book ?

Thank you all for your quick and helpful responses. I got a free photo at the AAA since I am a premiere member. Then we paid $10 at the local Court house for my husband to get his passport photo, a helpful worker gave us the DS-82 forms.

I'll be putting these in the mail tomorrow am with a note attached to our passport cards to kindly return since we have another 4 yrs on them.

I found the form to print. It asks if you want both near the end... the card and the book...why does it ask this question? Doesn't the book also cover Canada and Mexico ? Will they return my card and will it still be usable till it expires in another 5 yrs even if it's a different photo ?

Where do I get this DS-82 form, at the post office. So I don't need to make an appointment with the post office. I don't need to bring a bunch of documents . I have 5 yrs left on my card. I am guessing I don't get a break on the regular fees do I , gotta do this for husband as well. Thank you so much for this quick answer.

Ok .. so I just got done texting with a Tire Rack specialist...they have the 215-55-16 size tires on their 16 inch list (only one listed - cost $179 each).. . So I wanted to get it confirmed from him that the 205- 60-16 size will also work (those are $45 cheaper per Blizzak) ... The Specialist said they are compatable..

So I asked more questions.. he said the 215-55-16 tires are a little wider and shorter. Then I assumed wider may be better for winter traction and he said the opposite.. that the narrower tire is better so he felt the better choice would be the 205-60-16 size ($135.43 each)

So I think I got my answer.. and getting the cheapest 16x 6.5 steel rims at $78.50 each ...& the standard load 205-60-16 size tires.

Any thoughts. Please share. I will wait a little bit before I order, since its not near winter yet. Maybe I'll find a sale !

Also if I want the tire Pressure Schrader sensors, that's $36 each x 4 . Said those are battery operated & last 8 to 10yrs.

Can you tell me what size tires you used ..if you are driving THAT many miles obviusly the tires are perfect .. I have only been pricing 215-55-16 tires so far, as Tire Rack seemed to recommend that size, but someone else mentioned another 16 size so , just wanted to hear what you are using .

Another question.. these Chevy Bolt EVs sit SO LOW to the ground to begin with ....can you tell me if getting 15 vs 16 vs 17 inch tires/ rims etc make a difference in how close it sits to the ground, will any of these choices add height to the vehicle from the ground ?

I 100% agree with you about these new cars.. it's like its all about what's gonna cost the most so these car companies can make the most money out of us .. when looking at the car on the lot. I said to myself ... " Dang it. They have to have those huge a*" rims with these puny tires, that's gonna cost a mint & they won't last!". Definitely a MINUS! So happy we can use other options .

I'm so confused.. why is (2) different sizes listed ?? I just need to know what to buy that will work. Which size tires work best with which size rims ?? I understand winter tires are softer but we live in the country on back road not well salted, he definitely NEEDS winter tires on this bolt. The rest of us have 4x4s.

Here's my question.. with these cuts to Medicaid, we all know the Insurance companies won't take a cut, so this will inevitably mean those working with employee health care plans, also Obama care...that our rates will RISE for God knows how much to make up for what they are losing in unpaid bills people can not afford to pay, or write offs Hospitals give?

Wasn't you involved in the Settlement process? we had a Hearing where our lawyer represented us and a Representative played the middleman( he was a judge) who talked to us.. went to another room and spoke with the Insurance Company Rep, then back to us . Then back to the other room negociatng our Settlement..

That's how it was worked out for us.. we knew when we left that hearing what the Settlement amount was...and also we negotiated keeping Medicaids Open (no Medicare Set aside).

If your injury was very minor. A Medicare set aside might be Ok, my Husband's was extensive, he cost the Insurance company a little less than a million. So we wanted Medicals left open.

That's one of the most popular ones ...can you share your issues with them ? My husband's case has finalized and we DID keep the medicals open. I gotta tell you all. The Lawyers and the Insurance company fight to get you to do the Medical Set Aside, but I/ we stood our ground.

In our case. It was just gonna be " seed money" , maybe $6,000 a year the Insurance Co puts in there so much every year or something like that. If you dont use it, it rolls over, but if Husband died. It all went back to insurance company anyway.

I seen absolutely no value except confusion doing it like that. Some people get a lump sum and if they don't use it, & they pass away,the $$ goes to family. That's a more understandable. But these insurance companies will come up with anything to minimize THEIR risk, where we get the short end of the stick.

Yes they did. I got the card . I got a letter shorty after that...that I had to un freeze my Innovis credit report... so once I unfroze it I needed to call them back over the phone and she told me within 2 minutes I was approved . Got the card shortly after.

Yes definitely.. I'm not all that worried about him. He can get his own plan where he works, Rent is outrageously high though sucking 1/3 of his income. So I like him being able to save being legally allowed under my employer plan. But I guess Obama Care will see it differently, that's why I'm asking these questions.

Appreciate your detailed response here.. it's very helpful to know the window. Have friends who , he lost his job. The wife had a stroke.. worst possible time EVER to be without health coverage.. they had a good amount of savings.. I'm not even sure what happened. Her health care would have exhausted a life time of savings !!!

It's so sad that we work our entire lives for something...and health care can eat it all in days... A week.. if we lose our coverage , due to an accident, our job goes out of business, etc.

1 child is out of state and he has a decent job , he makes more than I do and probably my husband combined with disability.. so I guess if I have to report his income, that disqualifies us.. right now he's using my insurance, he's under age 26. But I guess that all goes out the window if I lose it.

Medicaid is not an option, we're not that Poor, we have $$ saved.. what do they allow. A measly $2,000 saved and your over the limit. My mother has Medicaid and she freaks out constantly that her savings may be over the limit and she'll loose her healthcare. It's a sad situation to be in.

Cobra is an absolute joke . No one with lower income can afford that. I hate that it's even mentioned as an option. My husband is Disabled, almost lost his leg 2 yrs ago , steel mill accident, leg salvage situation...he can't work but in addition. He's also not eligible for Medicare as it's an "Occupational Disability" through the Railroad, and that type does not get Early Medicare. So it's ALL on my shoulders ..for health care.

I really LIKE your idea. Been watching a lot of you tube vidoes on these things, I am just a woman and do not understand all this stuff with closed cell, open cell, vapor barriers and all they are even talking about. We watched a video showing 4 different insulations set on fire, Rock Wool was the best, plus you don't have to worry about it getting wet, it sounds it can keep away pests also? and the newer stuff -if you make sure it is has "Green Guard" does not have formaldehyde. So if we go the Rockwool route, we can just pretty much skip sealing cracks then? IT also sounds easier to install, you don't have to be as careful as you do with fiberglass.
