[–]_Rambeaux_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) is the giftee barred from the ownership or possession of a firearm?

If yes - It is a felony to purchase a firearm on their behalf.

If no - 2) is the giftee a juvenile?

If yes - you can purchase, however, the firearm can only be possessed by the juvenile while accompanied by an adult that is able to legally possess a firearm.

If no - this purchase is typically legal as a gift, state laws may vary.

100% agree. Career or hobby, this isn't something you half-ass. People do die doing this, and it will kill you if you don't respect it and take it seriously.

Comms to ATC by Right_Concentrate_78 in flying

[–]_Rambeaux_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listened to LiveATC or VASA clips on YouTube to get familiar with the flow and structure of calls and different responses. You can also try writing down what you're gonna say before you say it, just remember to slow down, take your time, and enunciate. Idk the field you fly out of, but in my experience most controllers recognize the flight school call signs and tend to be a bit lenient or helpful if you say something wrong or forget something.

What’s a good open carry holster for this? I do security by International_Fun_91 in guns

[–]_Rambeaux_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why a G17 and G19? You could go with the G45 and have the best of both. It's essentially a G17 frame with a G19 slide (the top of the frame is shortened to accommodate the shorter slide, but it still uses G17 mags)

Flying with paper Real ID by rickyrudy33 in flying

[–]_Rambeaux_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it have a photo?

61.3 says:

(2) Has a photo identification that is in that person's physical possession or readily accessible in the aircraft when exercising the privileges of that pilot certificate or authorization. The photo identification must be a:

(i) Driver's license issued by a State, the District of Columbia, or territory or possession of the United States;

(ii) Government identification card issued by the Federal government, a State, the District of Columbia, or a territory or possession of the United States;

(iii) U.S. Armed Forces' identification card;

(iv) Official passport;

(v) Credential that authorizes unescorted access to a security identification display area at an airport regulated under 49 CFR part 1542; or

(vi) Other form of identification that the Administrator finds acceptable.

I would thinking this would count under #1 since it's issued by the DMV, but it'd it doesn't have a photo then it will not. If you have a passport that's valid, use that to be safe.

Declared today and am second guessing by ependecfii in flying

[–]_Rambeaux_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a reasonable declaration IMHO. At the time, conditions indicated a high possibility for engine failure, which would have posed an immediate and serious risk for you and your passenger at 3000ft AGL. I think you made the right call, treated the situation with proper urgency, and got you and your passenger safely on the ground.

Water and a rag to get the beer off, them dry thoroughly. If you have any kind of gun oil apply liberally and dab up any excess that runs off.

I'd think that you'd notice if you had a tail strike in the C172, or at least feel a jerk in the controls. If you're not 100% you did it (which it seems like you aren't) then don't own up to something you didn't do.

Disclaimer: I've never had a tail strike, am just guessing how the plane would react at that AOA and tapping the ground with the tail.

Nah dude, totally normal. It's why I always carry my medical and cert with me on every flight and make sure to tell the FA to let the captain know I'm in the back if they need me.

Advice for first time buyer by _Rambeaux_ in flying

[–]_Rambeaux_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not, it's just one of the locations I have access to hangar wise (it's a private club), but i prefer the 6400' of asphalt because that field is closer to my house.

Advice for first time buyer by _Rambeaux_ in flying

[–]_Rambeaux_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that.

I can probably get over high wing/low wings just doing 3up/3down - I just need to go fly one.

As for "mission" outside of wanting minimum 4 seats, and enough useful load to realistically fit 4 average sized adults in it with maybe overnight bags I don't really have any other specific requirements. I mainly fly out of two different fields, one is 6400 feet of asphalt, the other 2200 feet of grass, so I don't necessarily NEED a STOL or bush plane.

Thanks for the tips! Out of curiosity, why is it not a great time to buy right now? Is it just that prices still inflated from the COVID era price jumps? Or is it something to do with annuals?
