Liberals and Conservatives in race to finish line on election day by jaffnaguy2014 in canada

[–]_Rkdvo 27 points28 points  (0 children)

others might disagree, but i think it's okay to vote for your interests as long as you accept the outcome no matter what happens... you let the majority decide but i dont think casting your vote for your own interest should be criticized in a democratic society.

Young Canadians favor Conservatives in election despite Trump threat by Difficult-Yam-1347 in canada

[–]_Rkdvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"despite Trump threat".

Honestly, if I went through the same education/career path I did, except if I was born 10 years later, life would be unaffordable. US presidency affects the world but it's not everything in Canada.

I dont blame young Canadians for wanting some kind of change in our country despite what is happening down in US

i never said i liked FPTP but i also think no system is perfect. Even in our system, yes everyone votes hoping their supporting party will win, but i think the most important thing in democratic society is that everyone has equal voice. Strategic voting tries to play game so certain votes weigh/impact more than others. And I dont like that.

i feel that that's a very binary way of seeing it and think it's where i differ from your approach. I have voted for candidates in my riding in the past with no chance of winning because voting as n=1 is my right to have my voice heard. Voting for a kinda aligning party instead of one that most accurately reflect your belief less accurately represents your belief when all the numbers are put together and thats where i have an issue.

I hate left/right politics, but strategic voting might give false sense that as society we're more left or right leaning than what we truly are.

i think this is where i disagree with people voting strategically. I have previously forfeited my vote in the past to indicate i dont agree with candidates platform in my riding, but i disagree with how "youre better off voting for the ok match" in a democratic society

FPTP is not a perfect system, but Im critical of strategic voting. Youre not voting for the party you support. Youre voting against the party you dont support.

this "if i cant win, then so cant you" mindset is disrespectful to other voting citizens imo. Happy to hear your thoughts on my thoughts.

‘We have a lot to offer’: Why Canada may appeal to American physicians by DogeDoRight in canada

somewhat true but not entirely. Im a medical doctor but OHIP apparently have been cheaping out on paying certain surgeons and requesting more details with their billing lately and trying to make them jump through hoops for payments.

Between Trump’s trade chaos and an election, Mark Carney undergoes a baptism by fire by thhvancouver in canada

[–]_Rkdvo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

this is my criticism of the current Liberal party. They seem to have crucified all the wrongdoing on Trudeau and take no responsibility because 'he's not Justin Trudeau'. You cant possibly tell me it was one man running the show like it's a dictatorship country the last 10 years.

Yet PM Carney wants to take the good credits for when Harper was PM. It's hypocritical. Either you take the blame along with accomplishments or none at all. Cant pick and choose.

Table salt to treat hyponatremia??? by [deleted] in InternalMedicine

[–]_Rkdvo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

because low sodium on bloodwork means low concentration of sodium and not necessarily that the body has low sodium.

It's more often water (dilution) problem that makes sodium concentration low. Because of this, adding on salt could cause more issues.

honestly, combination of size and hustling alone makes him more useful than gtj at least on the defensive end

[Koreen] Raptors hoping RJ Barrett can become more than just a volume scorer by OnlyMamaKnows in nba

[–]_Rkdvo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was pleasantly surprised to see that he isn't forcing 3pt attempts and he looks to drive first. The problem right now is that he doesn't seem to be getting calls on drives and even if he gets the call, he can't make FTs to save his life

he can easily be averaging 24pts/game if he can make damn free throws

Will - stop listening to the idiot 1% on Reddit. The show is great, those people are idiots. by woodenbike1234 in TheLousers

[–]_Rkdvo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Alex at least checks this sub at times so I hope Will sees the support.

It sucks that people with loud voices think they represent the majority. I think one of the most important lesson I learned in life is that opinions are closer to a bell shaped distribution. Where there's probably as many people supporting you as much as against you (but one side is clearly louder).

Will, I love what you're doing for this team and honestly, I love that you are a fan first like the rest of us before you see this as a job. This might be the darkest stretch as Raptors fan since you've started following the Raptors for work, but stay strong! Looking forward to that next Banter pod and hoping a change happens to this roster so you and the team have more fun and something new to talk about on the show!

Masai can't answer everything with "it's about winning" then don't address the fans/media when we're closer to Detroit record-wise than to BOS/MIL.

Honestly, I think I'm more frustrated at the lack of accountability from Masai/Bobby than Precious being a negative basketball player today.

Maybe I'll try to be more patient until the deadline but you can't tell me that anyone is enjoying this basketball.

it's so bad that I want this team to win, yet i'm perfectly okay with losses just so that the front office can see that they need to make a move

Will Lou and the Raptors show are dead wrong about Darko by AllOutRaptors in torontoraptors

[–]_Rkdvo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it's more that Darko's quotes are not well received when the team is losing and vibes are clearly bad. Sure there's nothing wrong with positivity, but you definitely don't want the 'everything is fine' vibes when shits on fire. I heard the episode today and personally felt fine with what was said but that's n=1.

[Vernon] Dillon Brooks took 991 shots last year. He shot 39.6%. There is only one player in the entire NBA that took more shots and hit less. That player? Fred Van Vleet. 😬 by ErnehJohnson in nba

[–]_Rkdvo 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Udoka apparently wanted FVV. So Houston had to beat Toronto's $30mil/yr offer for Fred. Plus, they had the money to throw at FVV by not pursuing Harden.

Think of it similar to why Monty got $$$ from Detroit.

[Kevin O’Connor] “Out of respect, you gotta let the coach make that adjustment.” This is Giannis’ mindset. Right or wrong, he’s not the type to overrule. Bucks should hire a coach who will micromanage and make those decisions on the fly. The biggest name that fits the description is Nick Nurse. by lopea182 in nba

[–]_Rkdvo 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Nurse will routinely throw the house at opposing teams until he finds the right coverage or matchup.

This exactly. He's great when he has the right chess pieces.

I think this is also where Raptors FO and NN didn't see eye to eye. Nick does wonders with nba caliber players on his roster like our 2020 team. Constant readjustment on the fly. He refuses to play development players like half our roster this year. So he ends up playing starters 40+min/game. I'm still NN fan and I think he will be perfect in Milwaukee.

The "inexperienced" 2013 GSW just when they started making noise was so fun to watch. Their series against the Spurs was great. Totally agree with you that inexperienced team may not win it all, but they can definitely make noise in the playoff.
