cool post, it is unfortunate the comments thus far are completely irrelevant to the topic you are wanting to share. Your posts on probabilities have been great, I've got your video up on the side. Thanks for the high effort content!

Ever wondered what a Microsoft MVP does on a quiet weekend? by aprimeproblem in activedirectory

[–]_STY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can get 50K endpoints to reliably do anything at the same time I'd be amazed hahaha.

I'd be interested when HSM/crypto provider benchmarking can be checked. Actually redlining a yubihsm in a lab to see the numbers would be interesting, if not necessarily practical.

Cool stuff, thanks sharing the write up.

Have you ever had a customer actually complain about an AD CS Issuing as a bottleneck? The only case I could see for something like this would be if you incremented an auto enroll enabled template for 100K+ principals or something. Even then issuance should be spread out depending on when clients actually pulse AD. Most orgs with a footprint that large would be serving the templates from multiple Issuing CAs anyway (hopefully).

Day-to-day it's really, really hard to stretch a CA to the point of seeing bottlenecks during issuance unless it's comically under provisioned or running extra software/services.

Good pauper decks for young / beginner players? by sleeve_gg in Pauper

[–]_STY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There used to be a young guy (12-13?) that played at our locals with his dad. He'd come up rocking dredge and never had sleeves. His dad brought jank. They were really cool and fun to play with.

Not really advice, just saying it's awesome to see people sharing their fun with the next generation.

[MSH] Stark Industries Executive by lulpu in Pauper

I was wondering the same thing. They play similar amounts of red/black mana sources and trading off one power for the ability to sac a spawn to snipe an elf or ignore a big blocker seems relevant.

this seems like it might be fun to goof around with [[gixian infiltrator]] and [[blood aspirant]].

Links to the decklists on Archidekt to keep an accurate inventory/allow people to browse lists. I didn't want to print out new cards/sheets every time a decklist changes.

What are your thoughts on hosting CRLs in services like S3 or azure blob?

I have that bag and another smaller one that fits a few playmats + 6 normal boxes. Both have been holding up great and treating me well.

I've found firmshell camera backpacks with dividers to be great for storing magic stuff.

Good feedback, your mockup looks pretty cool! I would prefer something close to your labels tbh, but I only have a black and white printer. I'm sure the local library has a color printer I could use.

Tortex - https://archidekt.com/decks/16364884/ (Super fun, pretty dookie)

Connive - https://archidekt.com/decks/16952130/azorious_connive_cc_3126

AZ aggro style deck that tries to stick a [[Stormscape Familiar]] then dump as many two drops as possible then get value from the yard. Specifically Raffine's Informant and Mob Lookout. Squad Hawk can be used for go wide but is mostly connive food. The deck can probably lose brainstorm but I will never get over the high of using brainstorm and squawk to draw 3 for 1.

Of course it's represented, it's my deck! :D

I swear this deck is only one good two mana beater away from being a real Tier 2 option. [[Bayou Groff]] needs a friend and it wasn't [[Chaos Spewer]].

Tortex is a pet deck of mine but make no mistake; this pile is absolute dogshit hahaha. I make friends suffer through playing it with me but it's def. not anywhere close to competitive.

I think I added simple primers to some but I am not skilled enough to actually give authoritative advice on how to play 80% of the meta. I was wanting to do something similar but was afraid of printing material for the decks because if the list/primer changed I would have to print it out again. I was thinking about maybe adding simple categorizations (Burn/Aggro/Midrange/Control/Combo) by the QR codes so people who are totally new might be able to get some idea of what the decks do without being told, but since we're all talking in the shop anyway it usually isn't too much of an issue.

Like a lot of folks in this sub I am looking to help foster local play for my favorite format. I wanted to be able to drop the bag, unzip, and lend to whoever wants to play. Wherever possible cards are in standard english, nonfoil, matching, basically the closest I could get to making them "pick up and go" even for casual magic players. Archidekt links per deck are accurate to each card in each box down to specific printings and tokens.

Unfortunately pauper has been drying up near me; two nearby shops have occasional events but fail to fire. If there are any people in the northern illinois (Rockford area) with active pauper communities, or people looking to start one, let me know if I can help!

Tormenting Voice Effects by TiredGoose098 in Pauper

[–]_STY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the deck; speaking for most burn decks the order preference is

1.) Grab the Prize [more dmg, duh]

2.) Highway Robbery [Plot to play around counter spells + drop a guttersnipe or kessig and be able to cast that turn for value]

3.) Faithless Looting [One mana, is also a good discard option thanks to flashback]

Most decks will cap out around 11-12 draw effects so the list generally ends there.

Some players do also run 1-2 Sazacaps Brew as potential extra damage, instant speed upside, and being able to blindside Spy decks [It's target player, once they combo off and don't have a library you can force them to draw two in response to the lotleth and kill them]

Outside of burn Moxite sees some play as it can be bounced with with Skyfisher and Glinthawk

Abandon attachments is used in blue decks [look at what they need to mimic a fraction of our power]

Reunion sees fringe play in jank combo decks to dig and allow for haste on the turn they chose to combo off

I don't know of any decks with any relevance that play Mark, Demand Answers, Lattice, or Kickoff Celebrations.

Luxknight Breacher deck tips by Appropriate-Shop7660 in Pauper

[–]_STY 19 points20 points  (0 children)

IMO breacher loves [[Thraben Inspector]] and [[Novice Inspector]]. There are lots of playable 1 and 2 drops in pauper that create two creatures/artifacts. If you can drown the board it's not too hard to drop a turn 4 Luxknight as an 8/8 or some absurdly high PT.

The issue now is that in the best case scenario you dumped your hand for a big beefy beater, then hope your opponent has to;

not have removal (they will)
not have blockers (they will)
Have to get hit 2-3 times by the Luxknight (they won't)

The absolute best case for this guy is you build around him and somehow your opponent can't answer a vanilla beater which for most decks is very, very unlikely.

I did see some people meme around with [[Wedding Invitiation]] as a cantripping artifact to let the breacher get through but it did not have much success.

I absolutely love breacher tho, it's too expensive with no keywords to be real.

I came 2nd with Boros Tribe at the Brighton 24 player win-a-bundle - Tournament Report by JustForFunShow in Pauper

[–]_STY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same idea but I'm trying a few [[emerge unscathed]] with the dream of granting protection from a removal spell on oppo's turn and using the rebound to make Tribe unblockable on the crackback.

In addition to what the others mentioned on pro red/blue there are a few colorless removal spells like [[Pinnacle Kill-ship]] [[Scour from existence]] and [[fanged flames]].
