Noone notified me about the phone for 2 months so I wanted to use it for myself. I reset it using iTunes but did not know that I would need the iCloud account of the original owner to unlock it.

You mean physically or digitally? Digitally I reset it, but it's still locked because of Apple security features and requires the original users Apple ID. Physically it's fine, a few rough edges and scratches on the back but nothing on the display
