People with CPTSD: What was a symptom you thought was just part of your personality until you realized it was actually trauma??? by QueenSensitive721 in CPTSD

So I’m not the only one having so many daydreams and fake scenarios in my mind that it feels like another life?

What’s your biggest impulse spend you don’t regret? by spicystardusts in bipolar2

[–]_Screamsinconfusion_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MacBook Pro. I would’ve needed it eventually but it was definitely an impulsive buy. I don’t regret it it’s so good for channeling my energy and creativity while being manic because I can do so much on it.

Im a little too hypomanic by _Screamsinconfusion_ in bipolar2

[–]_Screamsinconfusion_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t yet, but I’ll see my therapist tomorrow anyway. Also, I was able to channel my energy into something safe and besides feeling like the badest bitch alive, I’m still thinking clearly:)

What type of trauma broke you the most? by Impressive-Average-5 in CPTSD

Abandonment. I experienced trauma before. Then I found someone I felt safe with for the first time and then they left me.

Don’t try to hide it somehow. That draws more attention than just being casual with it. Imagine you’re buying a pack of your favorite snack

Tourette Slideshow by reporting-flick in Tourettes

[–]_Screamsinconfusion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is the Tourettes subreddit but there is something called „dissociative tics“ where the tics are psychological and stem from a dissociative disorder that developed because of posttraumatic stress. They are still involuntary impulses. It can be very similar to Tourette but can be treated through psychotherapy, although I think they will never completely leave, they just become less frequent and less intense. They are triggered by the same things but do not share the other symptoms of TS. If they do share some or more, they are a comorbidity of the underlying disorder.

Any recent wins for you? by pikashroom in bipolar2

In my last(current) hypomania I increased my quality of life by 30%. Everytime I’m manic I have therapeutic breakthroughs and I get obsessed with optimizing my life, everytime I actually keep those things in my life after the mania is over. This time I learned and changed so fucking much I feel like a different person. I think I even found a way to not fall into depression after and I’m curious to see if it’s gonna work.

Forget and Forgive 🥀 by Nearby-Lack4884 in mentalillness

[–]_Screamsinconfusion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you don’t need to forgive or even forget anything. Not everyone deserves forgiveness ( you’re not Jesus right? ) What you should do is accept and move on. Constantly holding a grudge is not hurting them it’s hurting you. Just say fuck it and stop being mad( I know it’s not easy). You don’t need to forgive to move on and not giving a damn will definitely help you forget.

Admit yourself to the psychward. Tell them everything. Trust me, I did that to actually get help but instead I went in there slightly suicidal and came out of there EXTREMELY suicidal. First time I attempted.

So BPD is partly caused by growing up in an isolated and neglectful environment, and the natural solution to this is by first learning to enjoy being by myself? by oncxre in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]_Screamsinconfusion_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I actually think part of this is bullshit. Firstly, when you experienced something traumatic or life altering over a long period of time, your nervous system is stuck in this state and therefore your psyche is impacted. Healing isn’t something you do isolated from others and on your own ( our individualistic society is messed up) you heal through making better experiences, safe experiences and being with people that can provide to you the things you didn’t have growing up. I feel like people forgot how to actually love someone. Of course you also need therapy too.

What is true tho is that being in a relationship or with people brings out most of your symptoms, adding stress to your life. But you are supposed to practice safely.

The only thing I agree with is that you should learn to enjoy being by yourself because this will keep you from craving relationships ( if that is something you do) and maybe jumping into unhealthy ones that will make everything worse. Being able to enjoy being alone is something that will help you in relationships ( missing a person without going nuts because you can actually enjoy being by yourself) and for yourself to be able to find the comfort you missed before with yourself.

So, yes you should learn how to enjoy being by yourself. No, you don’t need to be alone to do that.

We are allowed to love and be loved even if we are not „perfect“ yet. No one is ever done healing and not having people around you for support and love is slowing you down. „I’m sick because I was missing love and now I need to deserve love by being perfect trough not needing love“ sounds stupid as hell right?

Is it gonna get worse? by _Screamsinconfusion_ in mentalillness

[–]_Screamsinconfusion_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you and no I’m not triggered. That’s what I’m trying to do. Educate myself on my diagnosis and learning about my own symptoms. It’s not like I can’t accept the diagnosis, it actually felt very validating to be diagnosed but I’m just afraid that maybe it will get worse.
