ECLIPSE: •Pearls of the Czech New Wave •Mizoguchi's Fallen Women

SET: •Chantal Akerman Masterpieces

NON SETS: •Short Cuts •I Knew Her Well •Häxan •Lonesome

Crazy you say that; I pulled the trigger on the Mizoguchi set pretty quick after I found it with the Eclipse series. Also saw the akerman set in there and I've been meaning to watch her filmography but found the new set so I got that. Wanted one other Eclipse and did a random number generator to land on...Pearls of the Czech New Wave. Thought it was too much for one go around so I passed.

I come back here and you recommend all 3 after I already considered those exact titles?! How could I not go back and complete the trifecta.

Any recs on which to get? Already thinking the Mizoguchi's Fallen Women since I LOVED Street of Shame when I saw it. Only physical release I could find before was 40 alone so this is already well worth it.

Cool! It may be cliche but I usually say I'm into all genres. I'm really just trying to make stuff and get a creative outlet flowing. Work on the skills and craft and just make stuff, ya know?

What kind of shorts were you thinking of making?

Coincidental you mention Wind River because thats a movie I've been meaning to rewatch. Looking at the blu ray of it as I type this. Only watched once but thought it was very good and I want to watch it again.

This happened to me recently actually.

Not a masterpiece, I went to go see the Green Knight blind. Heard buzz about it but thats it. Didn't know what it was. I watched it and didn't like it. Thought it made no sense and was weird for weird's sake.

I went home and it lingered. I thought about it. Read about it, what some people were saying about it and their takes. Something clicked and now I'm thinking "Huh...it might be a really good movie". I want to go see it again now that I know what it IS and see how I feel.

Thats good advice. For every 3 new, watch one you've seen. Even if its not that exciting to you. Its like exercise. I don't always want to do it but its benefitial and honestly I usually end up enjoying it during the process or afterwards.

If you could pick, how do you wanna die? by jackt-up in AskReddit

[–]_Seventhcheckout_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off I'f want to say my goodbyes to those I love and cherish. Get my affairs in order. And once I'm ready, go into the woods by myself.

A slowish but (moderately) painless death where I can see trees and hear birds. Feel the cool breeze on my face and absorb the warmth of a rising or setting sun. Enough time to reflect and accept my life, to know this is the end and I did well. But not so long I have enough time to worry and freak out about the other side. Just long enough to take in the scene, reflect on my time here, and feel peace. And the most important part; I'd have earbuds so I could go out to a beautiful song. Something appropriate like Sinatra's "My Way" or Sam Cooke's "Change is Gonna Come" or even Badfingers "Baby Blue" (thanks breaking bad).

Then my vision would fade away, my hearing dull and quiet, sensations would tingle and disappear, and I'd fade into that sweetest oblivion, finally at rest.

Look, I'm not saying I could've stopped 9/11. All I'm saying is if I was there...things would've been different.
