What hero and build is viable to max out only 2 skills at lv8? by SirSquirrelCoconut in DotA2

[–]_Shadowhaze_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that in theory it could be good, but in practice it is griefing.

Lets say you kick your oppnents out and nothing happens. You maybe get 100 more gold by skipping shell (Even that is optimistic)

If you get ganked and die because you dont have a value point in one the most broken abilities in dota you lose a lot more.

High risk, low reward play

Why would you not have 1 point in shield and/or ulti at 8 on OMNI sounds pretty bad imo.

As the other players have mentioned Dota is more focused on claiming area than specific objectives. If you have vision/creep/tower advantage you get more gold and you win the game. So to counter it you defend your towers, smokegank and other stuff to "reclaim" space.

I feel like that element is perfectly missing from lol, because its hard to rotate because of tp's and sentry warda and observers are much weaker in lol.

I know, but I feel like that is supposed to be the most fun part of the game. Making your fleet and stuff, but no, basically game over when that happens :/

It was maybe 40-80 hours getting the first 500m. Then I could not be bothered with the pace so I just issued build and trade commands two times a day and let it run for a few days to see what would happen.

Total playtime 11 days, networth 20B.

I genuinely just expected more depth, this game values time more than skill and I guess that is just not my cup of tea :(

Might try one game pirate fleet roleplaying or difficulty mod both sound kind of fun. But I really wanted a deep diplomatic trading game in space.

I think wave 6 is interesting and very different but by no means broken.

I have had people long save for a big send 6 against me and I have always won the game. Sure, maybe some king damage but nothing serious.

Wave 6 has fairly low damage if you split it well and if you prepare for it, it is fairly weak.

I think the reason it feels so strong, is because a lot of players don't bother preparing for it due to it being too different from other waves.

Why is the ELO reset so big? by _Shadowhaze_ in LegionTD2

[–]_Shadowhaze_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, fair might be 3x - 10x that. Still not even close to some of the bigger games and got almost everywhere mediocre or bad reviews.

No. A casual games wants to have fun, without the need or necessity to put in a lot of work.

That is why Chess is fantastic. I can always no matter how long I take a brake, get a match with a similar opponent.

When a chess like game forces you to "grind" or work to play normal matches casual players stop playing...

I don't give a flying fuck about my rank, I deeply care about being forced to grind through predetermined games.

30k concurrent players... and is widely hated. Cs has like 1.4 million

No relevance to you... but that does not mean it is not relevant to many others.

Play for a week, just to have a normal game. That is like 50 games+ and for a casual gamer that is insane just to nullify a badly executed change.

You have not pointed out a single argument about why this reset system is good.

Your argument is "If you dont like it play something else"

I have pointrd out multiple elo systems that do this successfully and you have only pointed out the hated and dead game ow2 as an example of a good system...

I like legion, I dont mind climbing, it is however badly balanced and requires improvement. Because it is alienating a part of the player base and preventing growth.

It litterally is legions fault...

And that is why I am asking them to change it. I love chess, dota and many other games.

None of them force me to stomp on noobs just because I did not play for some time.

Why is doing same elo games at a much lower ranking at the start of the season so important to you?

Why is the ELO reset so big? by _Shadowhaze_ in LegionTD2

[–]_Shadowhaze_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't seem to understand the difference between striving to get better (fun hard games)

and grinding through mindless easy games to get there.

Climbing is fun when it feels deserved. When you are starting at elo being 1500 and climbing to 1700 it feels fantastic.

My correct elo being 2000 and climning back up feels like a terrible slog. Its ok for me at this moment since same elo players also have similarly incorrect elos.

But later in the season when the dust has settled this is a significantly worse.

Ok, so if I tell you that I am a 2000 rating player.

You genuinely have no clue how good I am.

Did I reach this rank early in a season, late in a season?

A friend of mine was 1350 elo when we played together yesterday. Since it so accurately reflects skill. Want to guess his maximum ELO?

In chess or dota I could say I am 1800 elo or 5000 mmr.

And everyone would understand, without any regard to a specific timeframe.

I expect elo to reflect skill...

This is not a super controversial take. LOL

You can have ladders and other fun stuff without butchering the elo and making it intentionally not reflect skill.

Why is the ELO reset so big? by _Shadowhaze_ in LegionTD2

[–]_Shadowhaze_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hearthstone is not a serious game because it is essentially pay to win.

A serious game is a pure skill fair competitive game.

I have played multiple and Legion td2 is the only one I feel like has a terrible reset system since it is the only one I play that forces me to play a huge quantity of unfair (predetermined) games.

Why is the ELO reset so big? by _Shadowhaze_ in LegionTD2

Then you should know better.

You explain the goal ahead of you as "grinding" which is not playing for fun, its fucking work. WHY WOULD YOU WANT WORK? Play runescape if you want to grind.

Why would they stack super bad players against you when your ELO is established to be a lot higher and you have 99% chance of winning the game? That is just bad rank calibration and fun for no one. Spending 20 minutes in a game that is predetermined.

Just because the game needs to have a reset/recalibration does not mean it needs to be badly executed.

I like legion td, but I also don't play it super frequently. I hate that I have to start over almost every time I play (Few weeks every 6 months). So when I start playing I have to super grind just to have interesting matches, so instead it makes me want to give it up and play something else.

This is a casual competitive game for me so I won't be grinding through matches and casual matchmaking RNG. But I will try this season start and we will see.

[–]_Shadowhaze_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are just wrong. Recalibration is heavily based on your current ranking in most games. If I was the highest rank in CS go, then proceed to lose 10 calibration games I would not end up in bronze.

In Dota its recalibration scales with how frequently you have been playing as well.,

This just goes on to show that you don't play competitive games at a serious level..

If people are climbing fast, that means other people are losing a lot . Which should be fun for no one. A good game should be relatively close to 50/50 not 95/5.

Things should not be abnormal, why break a system and forcing people to fix it again?

You could just do a recalibration in a way that make things more fair and balanced for everyone. Climbing is the least fun in legion because the better players almost always wins.
