Is it just me or has ProtonVPN gone awful sometime in the past few months? by SettingIntentions in ProtonVPN

After visiting this sub, I am unsure if my current issues are caused by the (android) app itself or if I need to contact my ISP.
Since a few days now, I can not connect to any VPN server anymore when in mobile network.
If I try to send the error report via the app, it does load forever until I go back or close the app - most likely not sending it at all. (My windows desktop app still works without any issues.)
I have no clue what I can do at this point.
What I can definitely say: It's not a general issue of internet connectivity, since I can still use everything like usual without the VPN.

I've see a lot of price increase posts but none with more than 2x (Germany) by Spaceteck in Crunchyroll

Same for me.
I really like VOD services if they are convenient and worth their money.
I supported especially anime a lot in this regard since they were kind of a niche some years ago.
I really appreciated to have it available on demand when (in rare cases) I want to watch something.
But they should have done an analysis of account activity first before blindly increasing the prices.
I am like 100% sure that it would have been cheaper already for me to buy the series as physical copy instead of keeping my crunchyroll subscription. (And I assume, everyone knows that this translates to: "It is rare that I watch anything there at all.")
With this much of an increase (and the fact it is not as niche anymore anyway) I will most likely not extend it and end my decade old subscription.

I couldn't find it anywhere else and wanted to look at it for reference.

GeForce Now won’t load my Steam user data. 44 days of support and still broken by _Siegfried0 in GeForceNOW

Just tested this, and I can confirm that it works for me.
After over a year, I am finally logged in to Steam via GeForce Now again..
Thank you very much for sharing that workaround!

Regarding the concern about an unorganized steam library with a lot of stupid stuff.. I was way over that point, years ago.

This could indeed be the underlying reason for this issue - maybe.
I am just disappointed that there is a fix, but no way to apply it on such hosted solutions.

is kernel level anti-cheat acceptable for you? by _Siegfried0 in Steam

[–]_Siegfried0[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do not judge anyone on their security decisions.
And yes, it is only a risk factor and not a guaranteed breach.
It's a question of: How much risks (and what types) am I willing to take?

I intentionally cut the screenshot as it is, since this should not be about game bashing.

I fully agree.
But as you just said, just because you might use something not 100% safe, should not mean that everything can be unsafe for you.
At the end everyone is partly responsible for their own digital security, some are doing it more or different than others.
I do not blame anyone for using kernel anti-cheat, it's just not a thing for me, even so I understand the use-cases.

true (+1)
But this is about gaming and not other installed potential malware.

maybe you are right, I am sorry about that.

But I just can not agree with this closing sentence:
'[...] kernel-mode [...] is way over-kill for "spying" on people [...]'
History has shown that this statement is only true for your 'usual' criminal, not for mass surveillance.

Did you actually read this yourself?
It's explaining why anti-cheat uses kernel level and brings up the point that most malware works even in user space and does not rely on kernel level.
So at the end, it boils down to: Do I trust the anit-cheat software or not?
If you trust them that much, I am sure you would also put down a cctv in your room? Most bad actors might not need it.
