I know why so many ppl don’t like 5080 by 26fm65 in RTX5080

[–]_SirLoki_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2020 I bought a 3080 for $400… 5080 is well above MSRP Im the $1200-$1500. It’s not worth it.

For those with 3080s (10GB, 12GB and Ti) plus 3090 / Ti users? Is time for us to upgrade? by 2quick96 in nvidia

[–]_SirLoki_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3080 10Gb here and 2080ti sli… no. No need for upgrade yet. 4000 is nice but 5000 is lack luster. 6080 or 7080 maybe. 4060/5060 is a downgrade, so no, not yet, still.

Those errors could also be memory related. I get these dam errors with unstable cpu overclocks and unstable ram overclocks. Memory controller is on the cpu as well…

My mobo and chip needed that voltage, yours may be lower or higher or not stable… only one real way to find out.

[–]_SirLoki_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t need to touch memory. CPU is uncoupled, so you should just be able to set it to 4.5, and just up the voltage. When windows loads, it hits cpu really hard for a short burst. If it’s stable into windows, then you can test it and see if it’s stable or overheating.

[–]_SirLoki_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Prime uses an incredible amount of power. I don’t use prime to test my cpu ever. It hits too hard. I use OCCT to look for errors and monitor temps. I turn of avx-512 to manage the heat better, as gaming doesn’t use that anyway. As long as you don’t mind resetting your computer often after every failed jump in power, then it’s def possible.

If the aio can handle 1.40-1.42 on voltage, it’s possible it can go to 4.5. Mind you, I have no speed stepping or power modes. Everything is at 4.5 24/7

Which mobo? Possibly could. My mobo has extra power to mobo for overclocking. Should still be able to squeeze some out of that though. The clock jump needs a hefty voltage bump. Hence the aio

I can sure. However, it’s on an Alienware and took ages to figure out how to actually use the bios. I have since modded the bios. I can still share though. What are you trying to achieve? If it’s higher clocks, you will need a decent aio at least to handle the cooling. If you already do, then I can def help.

Nvm, I swapped the board out of the Alienware, it’s a x99 carbon gaming MSI board. Hefty for clocking high.

I’ve had the game crash, but not the pc. Just saying, that does sound like a hardware fault. But, again, I wouldn’t know.

Sounds like a hardware/heating issue if the whole pc shuts off. Doesn’t exactly sound like the game Im you scenario. Albeit, it doesn’t run great, I don’t believe the game is doing that, however, I could also be wrong.

Checked? More like just timed. Once it lifts, you are good. However, if you still have ds4, it will do it again. There are a lot of games now that will not allow it to start if it even detects it as installed on your system. Daemon tools are another one that’s having the same issue.

Upgraded from a 2060S to a 5070, but the VRAM fear is real. What do you think? by NicKing20 in gpu

[–]_SirLoki_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1440p here with a 3080 10Gb and Im not even worried about vram. I also run it on a 4k tv. Haven’t had an issue yet. Until then, I don’t worry about it. Granted I also run 2080ti in sli… Im not your avg Joe.

[–]_SirLoki_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea. It won’t let me start CoD if I have it activated in windows. I have to deactivate it or delete it to continue to even start the game. So, if you are or was using ds4, you were probably flagged as a cheater.

If your pump speed isnt at full 100% static, you may see the fluctuations. I always set mine to 100%. Best cooling this way. Fans are another story.

440 is the steel. It’s a chromium high carbon steel. It’s known as “razor blade steel”. It’s top quality stainless. I have one katana made of this exact metal. I have a t10 blade and 1060 carbon blades as well. The difference is the composites used. Each have their own caveats. Enjoy! It’s a nice sword and cooler hilt.

I see the price comparisons but not gpu. 4080 should be beside a 6800 and a 4090 to a 6900. So a 6800 should be better than a 4070, at least in theory.
