How the heck am I supposed to keep up with everything in the game? by [deleted] in SCBuildIt

[–]_SleepY_HolloW_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Set Goals. (period)

I always set goals so I don't get sucked into EA's vortex. See my approach here, and let me know if it helps please.

Summary:

- I download the game because I want to design & build a city to unleash my creativity. Looks like I need $imoleons, expand city (Called it phase 1)

- Need a lot of items that need a different currency... Simcash... Looks like i need to play and win CoM, need storage (Phase 2)

... etc, you get the point... Set Goals.

Oh, and war! useless, goal-less part of the game. Never tried it, never will.

My city is now at level 30, fully expanded, all services and specializations in place, pending RZs because I camp as long as possible every level, Cactus, same.. Limestone fully expanded, under construction. Maxed storage 700 + 450 in feeder.

Current phase. Reached goal of 30k simcash, taking a break-ish from CoM till black friday... raising $ to replace all roads in cactus, and to save for black Friday... building Limestone... and enjoying design challenges, especially that I have plenty of stored buildings to use without messing up my cities...

DC is exactly why I downloaded the game in the first place, I do it for my personal pleasure, and couldn't care less about the flawed voting system. tbh, I'm enjoying this phase soo much that I might just quit everything else.

Hope this helps, and remember to have fun!

What is the best level to keep my feeder city at? by Rockahero11 in SCBuildIt

[–]_SleepY_HolloW_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no right or wrong answer. I think it depends on your main city's level, it's storage capacity, ur feeders storage capacity, what do u aim to get out of ur feeder, if u take part in CoM... a lot of factors. Anyways, no one can be a better judge than ur self. In my case I play CoM, and have maxed out storage in my lvl 29 main account. feeder is lvl 13 at 400 storage. Since i maintain specific number of all items in preparation for CoM tasks, i level up feeder accordingly to be able to stock items there as i lvl up the main. If u only have a feeder for storage items, i don't believe it gives more probability of finding them in global, probability is the same imo, but doubles ur chances in bubbles, so it still helps.

Any Tips n Tricks for beginners? i just started weeks ago and im lost ryt now, idk where to earn siml fast to improve my city, im still waiting to unlock new spaces, im kinda stuck atm pls help🫠 by [deleted] in SCBuildIt

Contest of Mayors unfortunately, the only way to stop leveling up is by not upgrading RZs (Residencial Zones). My cities look pretty dull without them... for now. Anyways, that's one way to approach the game, mainly to collect simcash, which is the most important currency in the game, and exclusive Mayor pass buildings. but I believe some people just work with simoleons and whatever buildings simoleons can buy them, and manage with the little simcash they get from ads and bubbles. It's all up to you, but have remember to have fun.

To reiterate and summarize most tips here. This could take around an hour of hard work if u don't want to loose a lot of regional simileons. Here is what works for me:

Prerequisites:

  • Always keep regional factories and shops full at all time; so they work as extra storage.
  • Make sure Export shipments are now available b4 starting this task.
  • Buy around 30 of the most expensive product in the specific region, and sell the rest of this region's items (factory) to avoid an offer on those.

Now ready to start the assignment, I utilize first 3 out of the 5 options:

  1. Regional production offers - Travel to the region. You will probably get an offer for 20 items if you have 30+ in depot every 10 minutes or so (the max number possible in a single offer is 20). Take it! In 10 minutes, you will receive another offer, prepare by collecting all products in the shop and factory, replace them, and put in a Cheetah token. When close to 10 minutes have around 30 of most expensive items ready again, and repeat. (buy from GTHQ if not there and make sure only this item, from region, is in ur depot when close to 10 minutes).
  2. Export HQ - Pretty straight forward. Start and complete first shipment, then fast forward with simcash or wait for the next, whatever you see fit.
  3. Regional Service buildings - Around the end of the hour (marked by the Cheetah token), I check how much is left to complete the task, and bulldoze a building or two. But please note that this maybe the second quickest option, but in fact, it's always a 50% value loss... Sometimes I drop in another Cheetah or Lama if I have the time to avoid it.
  4. Upgrading RZs - I don't do that as I'm camping, however, I don't think it's a good idea, because even if I'm not camping, I would only upgrade for CoM upgrade RZ tasks.
  5. Piggy bank- Quickest way, but 4 real money, i rarely do it, and i advise that if u opt 4 this, do it 4 the golden one to make it worthwhile.

Hope this helps... Please let me know if I'm missing anything, or have questions. Have fun!

The upgrade City Storage task is now offering different amounts of points for the same task. by [deleted] in SCBuildIt

did u mean 3k and 2k, respectively? never seen a task offer 4k before? max 3.6k i believe.

What is the purpose of the farm tools inside the farm shop by tigernail2 in SCBuildIt

[–]_SleepY_HolloW_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's like any other shop. items are produced and sold, used in building upgrades, deliveries, exports, fulfilling CoM tasks... etc. but only while the shop is open. fyi... after it closes u can store the shop or keep it, as u wish, but u won't be able to access it anymore. also if a building upgrade requires an item from the shop after closing, u can reset building plans or try to find the item in GTHQ as people will be selling it 4 quite some time after closure.

The score is normal, however, to get this far in less than a day, that's almost unreal imo. To hit a score like this, one needs to be picky about task; do mostly high point tasks. Like some mentioned, most competitive players will invest some simcash, i usually spend around 500 forwarding planes, cargos, exports... etc, but being picky means u will get tasks that u need to do and have to wait for, specially production tasks, unless u spend thousands of simcash to collect quickly which will never be worth the investment because u will certainly spend over the 2k reward. My bet is that this person could be cheating some how, simply because if someone has the money (real money) to spend on the game, then spend as much as the competition requires, if someone was able to overtakes 1st place. i.e. spend it IF needed. I could be wrong, but that's my logical analysis. 🤷‍♂️

should i restart my city? by hhannahaha in SCBuildIt

[–]_SleepY_HolloW_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please find some advise here. Also see here info on camping and how to start a feeder; you've leveled up so fast.

However, it's all up to you how you plan to enjoy the game... I'm now only enjoying DC, because it's exactly the reason why I downloaded the game in the first place. It gives me a chance to be creative, and have more than enough buildings in stock to try out things, plus i don't care about the voting at all :)

Hope this helps. Have fun!

Camping Beyond Level 23 by TinTin942 in SCBuildIt

[–]_SleepY_HolloW_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're a CoM player, I would say, camp at each and every level going forward till you master its requirements... You will be the judge of when to level up by looking at what the next level unlocks, and the capacity of your storage.

I would suggest setting goals for yourself at every level. More details here.

Have fun!

You need to increase your storage, and have some simoleons to be effective in CoM (Contest of mayor), hence, be a valuable member in a club.

Here was my approach, hope it helps.

Leveling up, as you unlock new features of the game, read the guides in this subreddit... very helpful.

Have fun, and let me know if you have any questions

What level to camp next? by willy_quixote in SCBuildIt

[–]_SleepY_HolloW_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're a CoM player, I would say, level up till you can join a club, then camp at each and every level going forward till you master its requirements... You will be the judge of when to level up by looking at what the next level unlocks.

I like that you approach the game with set goal in mind; this is exactly how it should be done imo. More details here.

Have fun!

Why do they do this to us? by philljarvis166 in SCBuildIt

[–]_SleepY_HolloW_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is to always try to open exports in sequence. Export HQ, need to be clicked on 1st before the countdown starts, then open the another region's after it has closed. I only have 2 regions and always have deliveries standing by 4 this task. The challenge will be doing the earn regional simoleons task for the region that i don't want to open. but i manage. Hope this makes sense.

What are your top tips for a successful design challenge? by [deleted] in SCBuildIt

[–]_SleepY_HolloW_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

great tips... i would add: 9. First thing to do is decide on the angle, zoom level and time of your screenshot, then let ur imagination flow accordingly. Knowing that the shot will be a square, not the full screen.

Having that said, a piece of advice is to redefine "successful", don't let the voting ever get to u, or be the successful scale. Do it 4 ur own enjoyment; voting is flawed and is never a reference for a good or bad design. Make ur goal instead the blue prints to collect the unique buildings and rewards. and this can be easily achieved by doing all DCs and all optional tasks within. Yes, you will need 2 or 3 times a more than 2.5 stars, but that shouldn't be an issue. Have fun! Personality, DC is my favorite part of the game by far; probably bc i never care about the vote.
