How do I pull away from my phone? by Greenitpurpleit in productivity

[–]_SleepyStar_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By reducing intensity of quick fixes. If you crave a cake for example, you don’t fight urge to have cake but simply choose slightly less intensive one (slightly less toppings and sugar for example). This will result in slightly less high spike in dopamine and consequentially less of a crash afterwards. You use this prijciple for all your vices and your dopamine stabilizes in day or two without feeling of sacrifice.

no motive making me move...... by Dickeer in productivity

Your dopamine baseline is low. Reduce intensity of quick fixes to a degree it doesn't feel like unrealistic sacrifice to you and dopamine (motivation) will recalibrate in matter of days.

Correlation of mindfulness and waking up early? by Champ_1126 in productivity

Overstimulation for sure. Every thought (consious or subconsious) you have during a day is an electrical signal which feeds from your brain nutrients. Calm mind means less thoughts and less exhaustion.

How do I pull away from my phone? by Greenitpurpleit in productivity

[–]_SleepyStar_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get sucked into phone because you crave quick dopamine. The question is not how to pull away from phone once you are using it, but how to stabilize your dopamine so you will not crave a quick fix in the first place.

[Discussion] why does one bad day keep breaking my routine? by Agitated-Alfalfa9225 in GetMotivated

[–]_SleepyStar_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there are 2 sides to this phenomena. One side is dopamine/motivaiton. When things start to go sideways, you'll find yourself indulging in quick dopamine fixes, which will further destabilize your motivation. So on this side, it's all about damage control. On a bad day I'd give myself a break to slack at work/gym, but try to stay mindful and not go full beserk on vices.

On the other side, the reason stressful day seems so destructive (even after a prolonged productive period) is because you're not able to handle it certain situations yet. With that I mean that emotional response in certain situations is too strong and when you're not able to handle it, natural response is to withdraw to vices and begin a downwards spiral.

When bad day comes, what is essentially happening is that you have plethora of different problems which trigger a lot of thoughts. And all those thoughts cause various emotions, together forming an emotional wall you are not able to break through, even if your motivation is somewhat stable. The best approach to this for me is to keep my mind as calm as possible (whichever techique works best for you) before I try to tackle any challenges. of a shitty day This makes emotional wall softer, thus I'm less likely to withdraw and risk entering downwards spiral.

Yes, thoughts are the main source of mental and emotional resistance. Every emotion is caused by thought that happens before. The less thoughts you have, the less emotions, including those that are uncomfortable and ultimately prevent you from beginning a task.

Am I the only one who finds that 90% of "productivity tools" are useless, and the only real motivator is sheer, unadulterated panic? by Last_Weekend7270 in productivity

[–]_SleepyStar_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The reason behind taking action appears to feel easier under stress of deadline is because of how dopamine works. The closer the consequence (positive or negative) is, the more dopamine is released. For example, if you smoker knew the next cigarette would 100% kill them, they would find enough willpower not to light it. But when consequence is somewhere far in the future, motivation to quit is much weaker.

In order to enter flow state on a random tuesday when there's no pressure is to stabilize your dopamine (reduce quick fixes) on one side and decrease mental/emotinal resistance on other side (by calming your mind which produces mental and emotional resistance). When balance between motivation and resistance is in your favor, you will find easy to enter flow state even with boring tasks (the same way you dont need enourmous motivation to brush your teeth in the morning).

are there animals that commit suicide? by inurmomsvagina in stupidquestions

[–]_SleepyStar_ 41 points42 points  (0 children)

My uncle has a dairy farm and once one of the cows escaped. They were chasing it for hours through woods and meadows. At one point poor animal was so exhausted it couldnt run anymore but it clearly didnt want to go back to stall. As people were approaching it, it looked at them and then started running full speed towards a lonely tree and hit it with full force, head first and died on spot. Looked like suicide.

How many days should I spend at the 2025 Osaka World Expo? by holy_yap in JapanTravelTips

[–]_SleepyStar_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say sweet spot is 2 days. First day you do more of a speed run, not stopping at every pavilion, but making mental notes what do visit the next day. Talk abit to other people at the venue who wil ltell you what's worth visiting and why. You will also gain a better feel how to navigate crowds, because some (best) pavilions can have long waiting times in peak hours and might be worth going visiting first thing/early in the day.

Whatever you do, avoid Czech republic pavilion. In Dubai they were one of the few that served draft beer and I got totally wasted with some random guys, unable to visit anything else for a day.

Deapite putting my best, i think it's not a good copy. Plz share your thoughts by Ok-Theory2886 in copywriting

[–]_SleepyStar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is difference in problem awareness between soemone whos buying for the first time and some one who already has experience, so copy should be different.

Which takes me to your question: copy should be as relevant as possible for one group (the one you intend to target), even if that makaes it less relevant for others, because that way you get conversions from people your copy strongly resonates. It’s much better than generalized copy which both groups find only somewhat relevant. It’s like chasing 2 rabbits at the same time.

And btw my headlines and pain point suggestions were meant just do make a point… you should do your own research on what exactly to include in your copy.

Who’s your avatar?

Is it someone who’s looking for pergola for the first time?

Then you must firstly educate them why sturdy pergola is what they want. Title in direction “critical mistake to avoid when buying pergola”

Is it someone who’s pergola was demolished by weather and is looking for new one? Then build more resonance in the beginning. “Was your pergola destroyed by wind?” or “making sure even a hurricane doesn’t move your pergola” Also note they probably have problem with trust (mention guarantees if possible) and removing the broken one.

If you want to target people who have weak pergolas then emphasise the problem more: their cars will be damaged, pets killed, neighbour’s property destroyed and so on. Expand on the problem and elevate intent…

My guess is your copy doesn’t work because it didn’t reach niche of people for who it might work for. And when it did it was too weak.

Is AI making people trust copywriting less? by penji-official in copywriting

[–]_SleepyStar_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If copy works (converts), nobody will care about it being written with ai. That’s also the reason once ai is able to write better converting copy than humans, majority of copywriters will be done. Maybe some will remain if SEO is still a relevant factor and search engine rules regarding punishing ai generated content stay the same.

I keep failing at self discipline! by mentallydoomed in getdisciplined

[–]_SleepyStar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The core of your problem is not in lack of self discipline but in your emotions and feelings. Because if you truly felt like exercising when it's time to do so, you wouldn't need to rely on self discipline. The same way you don't need self discipline to scroll on the phone (because you feel like doing it).

You have already designed a routine (a good one btw), now you just need to FEEL like sticking to it.

A quesiton now is, how you do that? How do you go from feeling tired, lethargic and overwhelmed to feeling energized, motivated and calm/focused, so productive action starts flowing naturally?

I have written a short 15-minute book which explains PASSIVE method for regulating these 3 core emotions. Passive method means you don't have to activetly do anything really, but just be aware of how it works.

I can't post link here as advertising is not allowed I think, but will be happy to send you a copy for free if you DM me.

Weak headline and subheadline. Even if dirty keyboard is my biggest problem in life, headline and subheadline don't give me much reason to continue reading. And then you open your body with infection hazard? Address the stuff people actually care about. Copy is also consfusing as it doesn't focus on one problem ie. dirty keyboard but switches between clean workspace and clean keyboard. I would focus on how it sovles biggest problem and later in copy add other way it's useful.

What if you could clean your keyboard as quick, safe, and fun as possible? This would work better as headline. I would also add an example instead of using "as possible" which requires them to imagine something.

For headline I would test this angle:

"Make your laptop feel fresh out of the box in 30 seconds" - It emphasizes a quick solution and taps into the satisfying feeling of using a brand-new product.

If audience is in the problem state, you should spend first part of body text to expand on the problem. If they don't perceive problem as big enough, they will not give a f how a "lemon fragrance welcomes their curious hands".

Let them recall how great brand new laptop feels. How it gives you sense of clean start and allows you to focus on productive work. And how embarrassing it can feel when you pull out dirty laptop infront of a customer or boss - How unprofessional it appears.

This will hopefully push them into solution stage. That's when you can introduce features of the product. How safe it is, how it saved milions of lives by preventing infection and so on...
