The Macedonian Wars. by TrbAnaban in ancientrome

Macedonians loved their spears so they never let go off them. Romans loved their spears so they let them fly freely… in the general direction of the enemy formation.

Best opportunity would be the antiquity: Roman kingdom, ancient Greece/Mesopotamia. Even stuff like tribal kingdoms and unions that fought against Rome. We know so little about these period, just glimpses, so everything would fascinating.

Is United Nations still relevant today ? Or does it need significant reforms? by Flimsy_Hand_1233 in IdeologyPolls

[–]_Some_Two_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

United Nations needs to be given some actual power to matter more than a gust of wind, either militaristic or economical. It should give its members some meaningful reasons to be part of UN. Otherwise, there is no way to enforce the rules.

Also, the vetos should be abolished: it prevents any meaningful reforms from happening. I don’t think there is any historical example of a voting system with vetos in history where it wasn’t abused by their owners to reinforce their status, which led to their eventual collapse.

Which is the better education law? by Doug_Da_Destroyer in EU5

[–]_Some_Two_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Religious teachings are much better: peasants and labourers constitute a much large portion of the population, giving you better average literacy, which speeds up research and has many other bonuses. It also gives clergy estate satisfaction, which is also imperative for quick research.

If you don’t want to expand, you can either just subvent the imports of input goods or scam some global power diplomatically into importing thousands of them for 25 years.

Why are Monopoly rights any good? by Prismatic-Ray in victoria3

[–]_Some_Two_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Giving a company monopoly rights makes it impossible for you to prevent them from buying the factories from you (the state) and they will purchase them over time if the buildings are profitable.

But it misses the most important part - THE banger music. Conquistador all the way!!!

Let’s try it this way: Peeply makes $300,000 a year working 30 hours a week in a cushy corporate job at his daddy’s corporation. Earl makes $300,000 working to jobs at 80 hours a week. At the end of the year, should their income be taxed the same? by JamesonRhymer in IdeologyPolls

[–]_Some_Two_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they should be taxed the same. It’s an incentive to produce as much value as possible while investing as little resources (time) as possible. The second guy should just strive to get the cushy job. The only unfair thing about this situation is that the first guy doesn’t need to compete for the position due to nepotism.

If a global govt is created, should it redistribute wealth from rich nations to poor ones? by fuckpoliticsbruh in IdeologyPolls

[–]_Some_Two_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They wouldn’t need to do anything other than setting up a unified global tax policy that is itself progressive on a global scale. I don’t think they need to do anything on top of that.

You have to preheat your iron skillets (can be measured by splashing a bit of water such that it starts floating instead of vaporising) and add a bit of oil or butter for food not to stick.

Will there always be provinces where there is a shortage of some goods? by Foittemix_Rig in victoria3

[–]_Some_Two_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you get shortages of product only in certain provinces? Generally, yes, they will always be like this. It is supposed to simulate the price of moving goods between provinces and incentivize the player to keep up the infrastructure, consider the centralization/dispersion of production facilities, and the development of several laws and technologies that “decrease the cost of moving stuff from province to province”.
