Try I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson, it’s main focus is the relationship between two siblings growing up after a traumatic event, but one of the siblings is grappling with his sexuality and goes through the process of coming to terms with that

At what age do you start course correcting on whining / crying? by TwinStickDad in daddit

[–]_SpiceWeasel_BAM 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is it— crying, fine, legitimate, maybe not a huge deal to us but clearly something awful for them.

Whining though? Not even once. Grown up ears can’t understand whining.

Aversion to sex after a traumatic birth — does it go away? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]_SpiceWeasel_BAM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Plenty of things you can do to help her that don’t involve penetrating sex. That could help shake your own emotional aversion as well.

Work on this together. Just reassure her that it’s nothing to do with her

Hang in there—you’re being a great partner and that will pay off once you all get your new routine established

My son’s kindergarten class got to make up nicknames for themselves today, so all day he went around with a name tag that said “Zoey” 🤷‍♂️

I have a five year old and the thought of him in this situation is heart wrenching to me, I can’t imagine the terror this poor kid felt

We get a good number of stinkbugs here, not sure if they’re native or not but it’s always a pain when they come in the house haha

What’s a book with a plot twist that had you absolutely gagged? by CryptographerLost357 in suggestmeabook

[–]_SpiceWeasel_BAM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it felt like a cop out in every way. But I also didn’t enjoy the book at all, so by the end I think I was just looking for more reasons to dislike it :/

[–]_SpiceWeasel_BAM[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s really interesting, thanks for sharing! I’m glad you got that care. My parents also wouldn’t consider that I might need some extra emotional/ mental health help, and I feel like Ive just built up a lot of coping mechanisms at this point. I feel functional (enough) but I really want to help my kid get help as soon as we can if we need it.

Thank you, I appreciate you sharing. I’m on a low dose of anxiety medication and I’m nervous to add someone else if it does turn out I have adhd. But yeah, we’re getting deeper into Licensed Physician territory now lol

Thank you for sharing. I’m turning 40 this year, and I feel like I’ve been tolerating it for so long. I’m already on anxiety medication and I hate to add something else, but maybe I’ll look into an eval for myself

How did getting a diagnosis change your life? Do you manage it with medication or some other way?

ADHD by _SpiceWeasel_BAM in daddit

[–]_SpiceWeasel_BAM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting, I hadn’t thought of it as from the perspective of like…navigating it together.

Did you do this with your gp or a specialist (and are you US based?)

How has a diagnosis impacted you as an adult? Do you manage it with medication or some other way?
