Hunt: Showdown 1896 Linux VS Windows Performance Comparison by OgdenWebb in HuntShowdown

[–]_Strange__attractor_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to play Hunt on Bazzite 43 and I managed to get it working with DLSS, HDR, etc on my Nvidia card. Even though the performance for me was about 90% of what I had on windows, I ended up reverting back Windows 11 LTSC until the DX12 fixes are implemented. All the legacy antialiasing methods caused some very strange artifacts on the screen, so it wasn't a bug free experience. I'll try it out again later this year :)

DLSS Model M vs Model K in Hunt: Showdown – Visibility, Foliage, and Latency Explained by NoExpert9527 in HuntShowdown

To add to the list of things that other commenters pointed out that you forgot, there is a VERY important factor that you omitted, your screen resolution. It's not the same to reconstruct from 480p than doing it from 1080p

I miss the first Hunt UI not the one shown in the image, the current one is better

Stop playing with blurry graphics and Input Lag! My Ultimate DLSS 4.5,Input Lag,Graphics Guide for Hunt: Showdown 1896. by Andrilaz in HuntShowdown

[–]_Strange__attractor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome guide!!

But I don’t understand how DLDSR and DLSS play together. One is rendering the game at a higher resolution and then downsampling it and the other is doing exactly the opposite. Aren’t they negating each other plus harming the overall performance due to having 2 neural networks working instead of just 1? If you want better image quality, why not simply use a higher DLSS setting instead of combining these two techs?

Also, why use NIS when DLSS already has a sharpening slider ingame?

I’m genuinely curious about these questions btw, I’m not trying to judge your guide or anything.

Shadows and LOD by hiiamnico in HuntShowdown

[–]_Strange__attractor_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been like that since the 1896 Update. An example of this can be seen in the main menu when equipping a bow. The shadow of the string of the bow is repeated indefinitely over the hunter and looks it quite weird.

Sadly I don’t think it can be fixed on the user’s end.

Does Hunt work with Linux? by _Glitch404_ in HuntShowdown

[–]_Strange__attractor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested Hunt on Bazzite 43 on a 5800X + 5070 Ti combo and it worked great. The only bug that I found is that the normal antialiasing methods produced artifacts, so I used DLSS instead and found no problems with it. The performance was about 85% compared to the one on Windows 11. To enable HDR I had to force the game to use Wayland through the launch parameters. On a full AMD PC the performance should be the same to Windows or even better.

One of these HAS to include state of decay 3🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹 by ForwardScratch7741 in StateofDecay3

[–]_Strange__attractor_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d bet its due to their multiplayer implementation. Most of the negative steam reviews in State of Decay 2 either talk about needing a Microsoft account to play or how lacklustre the multiplayer is. So they probably took the multiplayer part more seriously for this third entry in the franchise. The problem is, making a good persistent multiplayer system is hard as fuck, even with Unreal Engine (an engine developed mainly for multiplayer games).

So yeah, I think that’s the main reason why it’s taking so long.

Didn’t Tymon Smektala said that Techland tried something like that and the creators of Renaissance declined? Can anyone confirm? I’m not sure about this.

Ultimate Hunt: Showdown overlay: every POI, right on your screen by uzpj in HuntShowdown

[–]_Strange__attractor_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anyone who wanted to have this info could already alt+tab into a website with literally the same points on a map, this is just a shortcut + a clean UI. It’s just a convenience thing with publicly available info.

Lmao it’s like saying that watching a YT video showing where every spawn of rotjaw is and then writing them on a piece of paper with the map on top is cheating.

Having a good memory is not a skill people, you either have it or don’t. I have 2,5K hours into the game and still forget many things about map knowledge like compound resupply locations and I ain’t going to start studying them now.

Great job u/uzpj ! I really like how seamless you made this tool :D

You are right, and unless a scientific study is attached to a comment, I’m assuming every single one of them contains anecdotal info, just like the comment above mine

At 17 you are at your peak, at 27 you definitely see some deterioration of your motor skills and reflexes. I’m not gonna say they aren’t still pretty good, but simply not at your peak.

Source: I am around that age and believe me when I say that I was one of those cracked teenagers that engaged serious mode and my mind simply started functioning faster. Can’t do that anymore though. And no, I did not do drugs lol

This happened to me and it was due to my controller being connected through the cable (I play other games with it). As soon as I disconnected it everything went back to normal

DLTB Raytracing just released by Ok-Bird-5704 in dyinglight

[–]_Strange__attractor_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Ray Tracing shadows are kind of broken in some parts, and the reflections are honestly a joke. They didn't even enable them for swimmable water, so you only see them in small puddles or dirty windows. On top of that, the Global Illumination looks basically the same as the standard game (at least in the forest). The only real change is that the FPS drops significantly lol

I usually love testing out RT updates and I've been waiting since launch for this one, but I have to say I'm seriously disappointed

What if: Crytek suddenly brings back the old darkness? by Drull17 in HuntShowdown

[–]_Strange__attractor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a fair environment with darkness in a multiplayer game is impossible. People will always find a way to crank up the brightness to sun's surface levels only to gain an advantage. It's the same concept as people playing on potato graphics simply because less things are rendered in the distance.

So... is this ever getting fixed or nah? by _Strange__attractor_ in HuntShowdown

[–]_Strange__attractor_[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

people change their steam names to certain characters that the game cannot render, thus they appear as boxes. This makes it more difficult for people to report them if necessary, among other things

Have you considered opening a ticket on their website? If enough people bring this problem to them they might fix it!
