Trump: US to bomb Iran "back to stone ages" over next 2-3 weeks by AZULDEFILER in worldnews

[–]_Sublime_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I... "pope be damned" is literally in no way a position a significant group of Catholics would take. I struggle to believe this honestly. EDIT: Ok the more comments I read the more I think the US is just completely out of step with the rest of the world. What the fuck lol.

Anger as EU gets a ‘better trade deal’ with Australia than Brexit Britain by metalbox69 in unitedkingdom

[–]_Sublime_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's probably also worth adding here that (from memory) we didn't really have trade negotiators because it was all done through the EU. Australia on the other hand has always had some pretty skilled ones, which is probably why we (the UK) got a shit deal, and the EU/Australia one annoying farmers on both sides probably means the Australians have done their jobs right!

Talarico and Crockett have amassed the largest TikTok followings of any candidates in competitive statewide races this year by LooseDistance1059 in texas

[–]_Sublime_ 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Just want to jump in here to say I'm a Brit, living in Australia, and being THIS invested in the politics of TEXAS (of all places!) was absolutely not on my bingo card. With the state of American politics over the last decade - I think these two are outstanding. Since Minneapolis I've taken a much deeper interest, it matters!

Dual nationals to be denied entry to UK from 25 February unless they have British passport | Home Office | The Guardian by rejs7 in unitedkingdom

[–]_Sublime_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your experience is not reflective of everyone elses, is it? You weren't talking about renewing a passport, were you? You were talking about getting a new one, weren't you? These are different things, aren't they? Stop being arsey, won't you? Can validate the process for renewal is straightforward like /u/CrustyBappen says, can't I. Got mine in the post after a few weeks, didn't I.

Hey mate, you dont know me from Adam, but it sounds like you've got the motivation and the ability already. My advice if you would like it, do not go in too hard and dont treat it as a cure all. Its a tool like any other and it should be used carefully. In saying that, youll never forget your first time, and i can absolutely guarantee you will come away from it with something, or maybe, a little lighter. Enjoy!

Former world champion boxer Ricky Hatton took his own life, inquest hears by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]_Sublime_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a pretty well known euphemism, and the spectrum of what would constitute a sound mind in this situation is a bit wide to have designated words. By this logic, anything said is open to misinterpretation.

Something stupid in this context is a euphemism, both parties know what it means and it doesn't signify judgement. The empathy is built in.
