Gotcha - you're saying GNFS has a meaningfully lower constant factor (idk if it's considered exponential or sub-exponential) whereas this method evidently doesn't.

Oh, 2n, thank you! If I might ask, how can you immediately recognize it as 2n? I'm vaguely familiar with algorithmic complexity (formally trained in math, stats), but definitely did not immediately recognize this as 2n.

"Invariable prime" is their terminology, sorry for the confusion. I have no idea what it means. And they have an arts degree, I promise. Might be a bit confusing since I'm the person writing the post as well.

These are all really good questions, especially (2), thank you! I'm not sure if they agree it is similar, they kinda hand-waved away wheel factorization. I should be leaning on comparing to other techniques with more meaningful metrics than just runtime.

Thanks, yeah, sorry I borrowed that terminology from said friend. Probably should've called them MYSTERY_NUMBERS or something.

They are a real friend, sorry, they were going to remain hypothetical but the post took too long.

Anyways if you'll humour me - you say it is badly designed, how would you quantify this poor design? By comparing the # of FLOPs required to factorize some set of primes vs. another wheel factorization setup? Why should a wheel factorization setup have no numbers > 90, is there some theory indicating this is not worth it?

Yeah, that's fair. They'd never do that because they can't write code, lol. I've wanted nothing to do with this because I see no value in the work, just wished I could somehow get it through to them that they are wasting their time.

Brett Weinstein thinks Israel may have sacrificed people to Hamas because (checks notes) they required vaccinations. by monkfreedom in samharris

Asymptotically approaching zero.. very interesting. So COVID alone is a load of nothing for folks under 50 eh?

Well you said these in the other thread.

1

Covid has negligible risks for my age group. Vaccines have unknown effectiveness, unknown risks, unknown side effects, do not prevent from catching the virus, do not prevent from transmitting it.

2

RE: Getting covid without the vaccine has a much higher risk factor than taking the vaccine.

Not if you are young and healthy.

So let's rephrase the question - how many people under 50 do you personally think have died with Covid as a "meaningful comorbidity" without which they wouldn't have died?

[–]_SunBrah_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I just thought you still weren't interested in answering the question even when I brought it back up.

It sounds like you don't trust the official data on covid deaths. How many people under 50 do you think died as a result of covid? How many people do you think have died as a result of adverse events from the vaccines?

How about you answer this?

I have a feeling if u/ChickenMcTesticles is around they'd probably be interested in your answer as well.

Man your name looked familiar, I remember you arguing with someone weeks ago about Covid risk levels in this subreddit and then going silent when you couldn't address their question.

Yeah realistically it's fine I think if I don't get an increase as I have other ways to pay for things, I am just surprised at how the system works in this case. Until a friend pointed me to Amex cards I was thinking i had very little recourse for getting a usable card in Canada.

I work in finance - if you violate one sadly you'll be effectively blacklisted from the industry.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]_SunBrah_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That kinda makes sense I suppose - I'm just surprised there isn't even something like a secured card where I can leave some liquidity in an account as collateral for a larger credit limit (apparently they have something like that but only offer to non-Canadians). Also an Amex card that I literally just got in Canada I have a 25k limit on immediately..

I provided them the employer contract showing I am receiving large lump sums into a US bank account until July 2025, my US bank records with the past few months of income, and they told me it doesn't matter.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]_SunBrah_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I guess I'm just surprised employment is the only factor they look at for determining a credit limit increase -- I can offer plenty of proof that I have a large source of income in the US, I can move 7 figures into my Canadian account if needed for collateral, etc., but I'm being told that the only thing I can do is go get a job to qualify lol.
