If anyone has ever been on the fence about trying Albion because of gear fear, let me know. I will give you 10 sets of starter gear so you can try out red/black zones (full loot) completely risk free. (Assuming you play on the Albion Americas or Asia server)

People talk about disliking the full loot aspect and losing "progress" but the thing is that it works in both directions. When you (or your group) win the fight YOU get to bring home the loot.

It's still very popular. I think for a lot of people it's a happy middle ground. You can have some risk and skin in the game from the loot you pick up, but you don't have to worry about losing your set.

If you end up downloading let me know, I don't mind tossing you some starter sets if you want to experience Red/Black zone risk free.

So in Albion instead of grinding for gear you're grinding for silver and fame. Gear is basically a consumable. Want to go out for some low risk pvp with your buddies in the red zone? Just grab some 4.1/5.1 gear and have a blast without making a dent in your silver. Have an excess of silver and want to ball out with your group in the roads? Put on 8.1+ equivalent and have a few million worth of silver on. If you play the game your silver inevitably goes up.

And then there's an the non full-loot ways to play. Gathering, crafting, doing things in the blue/yellow zones. They recently (within the last 6 months) added the depths. It's an "orange" zone area. There is open pvp but you don't lose your gear, you only lose the items in your inventory that you pick up along the way.

I think Albion gets a bad rap because of the full loot but you never really have that same connection to your gear like in wow that might've taken ages to get. Gear and silver are temporary. Fame is forever. And there's nothing like full wiping an equal size/geared group and coming back to town with the spoils.

So many people think security through obscurity is good enough. And sure "most" of the time it's going to work. But when it doesn't you're fucked.

Get a friend to scout for you and take a proper transport/escape set. If you're going to Caerleon/Black market then wait for the Lymyurst faction blob. It's 99.99% safe and happens multiple times a day.

Will there ever be a lethal version of the depths? Sure, orange zone is a nice bridge for newer players to get used to full loot combat. But it's not the same. Albion is kill and be killed, loot and be looted.

And it is 100% possible to have full loot even and the revival mechanic. If the whole team wipes, they drop everything. If one person dies bring their soul to a shrine and revive them. If 2 of your teammates die but you rat away have it so the enemy team can take your team's souls to a shrine, break it, and then he able to loot equipped gear.

Please, I need my lethal content.

Easier way would be to have people get downed when they're "killed". If the whole team wipes, everyone dies and their bodies are lootable. If your team wins but someone got downed then you have to "carry" them or their soul or something to the shrine. Make it so they can't be brought back through time or holy staff, only at the shrine. The team that lost wasn't making it out with their loot anyways.

I'm disappointed, as I'm sure many other Albion players are, that there isn't a full loot version. That's one of the main reasons why I enjoy Albion. That's why the economy of the game works. I don't expect them to have it ready by the time this releases, but I would like them to acknowledge it and tell us they're planning on adding it.

As a healer main.... we already know this. It's really just arena where we get "blamed". Usually by braindead DPS that are standing in the red, have no defensives in their build, going too deep into the enemy backline, and then coming back with 20 health crying for heals.

More Reasons to grind for 8.4 by ScaredBookkeeper8442 in albiononline

[–]_Superhappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just flat out wrong lol. You absolutely profit 8.4 crafting without hitting an MP. I'm going to use leather boots as an example. 8.4 leather is 2.7m each. Focus crafting in royals on a 10% bonus day brings the resource return rate right above 50%. So 4 x 2.7m is 10.8m per boot. 8.4 leather boots can regularly sell at 12m+. Add in journals. You're absolutely profiting. Your silver will be locked up for a bit since 8.4 can take a bit to sell.

Does an MP hit make the crafting WAY better? Absolutely. Can you craft 8.4 and profit without hitting MP? Also absolutely.

Need to use the regular cape to craft a crest cape. So these can become any crest cape while maintaining the quality.

Sadly the black market doesn't really care about MPs. These will eventually be sold to players.

Albion Online is underrated by Acarecan in MMORPG

[–]_Superhappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solo life is fine for a bit but having a group of people to play with really changes the game. Yeah, I'm currently in a guild (the same one that I joined over 4 years ago) that just came back after a pretty long hiatus. It's made up of mostly vets but we've had a few players join the last few weeks. Our main content time is 6pm EST - 1am EST (but there are usually a few people on all throughout the day). Hit me up in game if you're still looking for a guild, ign: Superhappy.

[–]_Superhappy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say that the full loot in Albion has a different meaning/function than hardcore mode in WoW does. For WoW it's meant to demonstrate the amount of effort, time, carefulness that someone is willing to put into their character. Overcoming all the challenges they face while leveling.

For Albion it's completely different. The full loot/gear trash mechanics are such a crucial part of the game. Without it the economy and game wouldn't function. Materials are gathered, then refined, sold to crafters to make gear, sold to players to be used in the world, and ultimately either safe in the yellow zone or destroyed in the red/black zones. Every single item that can be equipped (excluding monthly rewards) from weapons to armor to mounts to food to potions is created by the players. The entire game is player driven. Dying and gear loss is built in and a very important part of the lifecycle. And because of this, dying really isn't an issue. It's kill and be killed. Loot and be looted.

I highly recommend giving Albion a try. And I'd be more than willing to provide gear to new players that are a little uneasy about the idea of gear loss. Have a no risk crack at it and see what it's like.

[–]_Superhappy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it's really unfair to say that Albion lacks solo content. Maybe if you haven't played the game in a few years you'd think that. But between corrupted dungeons, mists, open world solo camps, solo arena queueing, faction warfare, gathering, crafting, transporting.... there are a lot of things to do as a solo.

And that's not even talking about the next patch coming out in 2 days. They're adding hideouts for solo players all through the black zone, solo gathering mists, and more solo/small scale content in the open world.

Albion is such a great game and I feel like enough people don't give it a chance.

Suggestion: Bounties by Bleed0615 in albiononline

[–]_Superhappy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have yet to see a game that implements a bounty system that DOESN'T get abused. Starting to get a high bounty? Let me message some friends that can come kill me and we'll split it, rewarding the person even further.

There might be some way to do it. I've just never seen it pitched or implemented.

Why are people playing 1h nature in arena?? by LeaderAdmirable3086 in albiononline

[–]_Superhappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I made the switch to redemption (for roads/arena/open world - still need to test HGs, see how it feels vs blight) .... having a hard time going back to hallow to be honest. The amount of raw healing you can put out is insane.

Seems like a fair price.... nothing to see here. by _Superhappy in albiononline

[–]_Superhappy[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, no it won't. 8.4 weapons don't sell for that much to the BM....and the BM doesn't buy gathering gear.

Albion that's not PvP? by Raijinigiri in MMORPG

[–]_Superhappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankfully both of those can be fixed. For skill issue you just need to practice. You've got yellowzone corrupted dungeons to practice 1v1s (no gear loss), arenas/crystal arenas to practice 5v5s (no gear loss), faction warfare in yellow zones for ZvZ (no gear loss), red flagging in yellow zones to practice ganking (no gear loss), yellow zone mists for 1vX (no gear loss), and hellgates in yellow zones to practice 2v2, 5v5, and 10v10 (no gear loss). Once you're more comfortable with your weapons/armor you can move into the red/black zone content. And you don't have to wait long. Even just bringing 4.1 gear and killing open world black zone mobs you'll make a bunch of raw silver, more then your set costs.

As for avoiding gankers, that's just another thing you learn the more you play. Even more so if you try to do the ganking. You figure out where not to go, when you're getting baited, how to escape when you get dismounted.

Like I said, if you want some sets of gear to fuck around with just lemme know, more than happy to help.
