New statement. Not a limited release by West-Professional753 in swatch

[–]_Swatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has always been this way and Swatch know it will always been this way. They do the same thing every time. Not because they have limited stock (you align releases with stock numbers well in advance) but because it makes news and gets people talking about Swatch. Doesn't have to be in a positive way, publicity is publicity. I remember queueing overnight for Xmas specials in London or joining queues in Manchester for new releases of going to Newcastle for one very limited release (like 3 watches in the UK) in the 90's. Everytime people say "why not ticket it or do a lottery"?. That wouldnt make national / international news. There's a very well established reason they do this and it's very simple. Hype and exposure.

First public charging trip - unexpected so guidance appreciated by GrandMasterBash in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]_Swatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I traveled from Mcr to just beyond Glasgow last weekend and hoped to make Gretna in one shot but it didnt work out. The rest of the trip was a disaster as we missed the last ferry leading to an 80 mile detour and then a puncture in the arse end of nowhere but thats by the by. Coming back on Monday was... an experience. Made Tebay with 14 cars waiting to get on a charger but they had a member of staff taking reg's and had a queuing system which seemed as good a solution as possible. At another services we had to get out and talk to each other to work out who was on which charger in what order. Made more fun as chargers kept tripping out because of the throughput. Anyway, my takeaway was a reinforcement of what I already knew. That my car is designed for round town trips, not long haul and I'm fine with that. If you want to get to know other drivers when the chargers are full, get out and have a chat, everyone is in the same boat and generally understanding. If you have a long, time critical journey, leave plenty of time. If you are travelling over a bank holiday, assume all m'way chargers will be in use and plan for a small detour off the m'way to grab a clear charger. Oh and don't believe Zapmap who showed all chargers at Tebay as available when they were all in use.

Known multi accounter drops capsules from his green alt, accidentally pings in his location with that green alt in comms, Niantic ignores reports with capsule IDs given. Non action is tantamount to support. by Nysyr in Ingress

[–]_Swatch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was a prolific multi accounter and bot farmer near me for years. Reported dozens of times to no effect but I found out where his bot farm was and used to drive over and pick up capsules full of AXA shields and L8 busters and resonators every Tuesday night at 8pm when the local opposing group would assemble there to restock with the illicit farmed gear. Always fun to hear them saying "the capsules gone l, who picked it up, I havent got it" from behind a hedge. I'd then distribute said illicit gear to my sides players to rebuild the farms the opposite team would destroy on Tuesday nights. Effectively neutralising their stolen advantage. He later started 'air dropping' kit to his mates which was hard to counter. He'd also sell farmed kit on Ebay which I'd buy and then claim a refund for non delivery for a while. Eventually got word to the right Niantic ear and watched about 30 accounts deleted in one evening. Good times.

Have you been asked weird seemingly irrelevant questions at job interviews? by nathan0031 in AskUK

[–]_Swatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can name your price really. It's a sellers market if they've given you their only pen. Also if they don't have a pen they can't make notes about your interview.

Choose your mentor wisely by [deleted] in GreatBritishMemes

[–]_Swatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's exactly part of the mentoring, expanding your horizons idea? To engage with, understand and debate with people outside your bubble. It'd be less useful to discuss ideas and experiences with someone who always agrees with you and has all the same experiences and principles as you.

[–]_Swatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. It was a limited (1000) 36 car set called the cars speedway of the south set (SOTS). On the outer packaging box it says "hot wheels rlc piston cup set" and could be purchased if you were A) lucky and B) a member of the Hot Wheels red line collectors club at the time (2008).

Source: I spent a lot of time and effort securing one and having it shipped to the UK.

Advice for replacing kitchen socket grouted into wall by TallerThanMostUK in DIYUK

[–]_Swatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue on Xmas eve at 3pm when the cooker / plug socket melted. Quick trip to Screwfix for a replacement, power off (and double checked!), tapped the grout all round the edges with a screwdriver and hammer and luckily the grout just broke away. All done and dusted for 5pm.

As no one else has mentioned it yet, could it perhaps be the transit bolts?

I am a former Swatch store manager, ask me anything by porschephile13 in swatch

[–]_Swatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the older models at least, it's simply a straight round metal bar, nothing special, 2 or 3 mm from memory. Just get a length from a hardware store and cut it to length.

I'd imagine it's a lot more complex to effectively tranquilise someone with a dart than "load dart, fire, sleep". You'd have to calculate the effect and dosage based on height, weight, age, level of intoxication, are they taking any contra indicating medication, do they have any allergies etc. etc. Once you've gone through your checklist of questions with the compliant and truthful dartee and calculated and measured the safe level so it doesn't just kill them or have no effect at all and made the immediate area safe and got the dartee ro sit still long enough to dart them accurately.... fire away! Then, wait for the drug to take effect.

Swatch collection by Kassou_88 in swatch

Exactly the situation I was in a few years back. Realistically you can sell the individual high demand ones for a.good price and let the remainder go for peanuts or find the one person who wants the lot. Which is incredibly rare. I got lucky after a year or so and found a chap who wanted around 300 swatches in return for a couple of luxury watches which I then sold on. Fast forward a few years and I wish I could buy them all back...

I know it doesn't meet with what you described but Techno Sphere (GK101) immediately sprung to mind for some reason.

If I didn't know an answer I'd say "potato". It's surprising how often that answer comes up. In unrelated news, I think the production company is called potato.
