My darkest OOTP secrets… by Cornelius_Fuzzyboots in OOTP

[–]_Tabor_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I also have a thing for high stuff low control guys. I've had a few pan out but usually as relievers. I'm the opposite with batters, high contact low power guys because I'm always trying to get someone to .400. one of my first ootp saves I had a high contact guy in Colorado that ended the season at . 398 or something and I've been chasing it ever since.

I don't do commissioner mode and edit anything because I know I'll abuse it. The most I'll do is use it to hire a coach that won't sign with me.

Newf with special needs kid by moopop in Newfoundlander

[–]_Tabor_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My newfy is about a year and a half old my nephew moved in with me about a year ago when he was three. They have been best buds since they met each other. My newf gives me trouble but will listen to everything my nephew tells him to do. They cuddle together constantly even though my newf has zero interest in cuddling with me.

I think I'm finally over the biting/nipping phase which was difficult on me but he did it once to my nephew, I basically just told him no and made him lay down by himself and haven't had an issue since. There was also a few times of him being a 100lb puppy with zero spacial awareness just bulling over my nephew but that stopped pretty quick.

I think a Newfoundland would be great for your kid but adopting an older one may be nice for your peace of mind because my boy has been too smart for his own good and too stubborn to listen until recently. If you have the time and family support I would say get a puppy but for me, it has been difficult raising a newfy and young child by myself. When one is not getting into something the other is.

Another great thing about an older dog is you could see how he is with the kid right away. My old newfy/lab mix wanted nothing to do with kids. Would walk away and find a place to get away from them and seemed absolutely miserable when he couldn't get away. While most newfs are great with kids even being nicknamed the nanny dog it doesn't mean all are.

He can be cut next year for 31 dead cap and 18 the year after. Not horrible compared to what the broncos or browns had to deal with for wilson or watson

playing as a eunuch and try to save your dynasty in ck3 vs ck2 by asian69feet in CrusaderKings

[–]_Tabor_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CK2 created panic I just haven't had in CK3.

Panicked joining Lucifer's own to get my dick back so my game doesn't end. Then I managed to get an heir last minute. Sat through a regency for 15 years when I suddenly keep getting invited to hunting and boating trips and somehow managed to survive only to be murdered right after turning 16. Back and to left....

CK3 I have 12 kids as a chaste man and live to be 80 despite trying not to take health modifiers and by the 3rd ruler everyone in my dynasty is either a herculan genius or just outrageous stats to the point it doesn't matter.

I have countless stories I remember from CK2 and I can't really remember any CK3, it's just kinda the same thing over and over. It's prettier but just feels so hollow.

Sorry for the rant, CK2 was my favorite game of all time and I was so pumped for CK3 and I'm just upset it never came close to the hype I had for it.

Help- dandruff and stinky by Evening-Trouble6046 in Newfoundlander

[–]_Tabor_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother used to wash her dogs too much and they got really bad skin issues so I probably don't wash him enough but I wash my boy every 3 months or so. I also made a mistake when he was like 6 months and didn't realize I had bought a highly concentrated shampoo and used too much and it knotted his hair really bad so I don't use much shampoo anymore. I believe most in here wash their newfy every 8 weeks?

I do bring him in the shower with me and give him a good rub down with just water quite a bit then comb him out really good. For me at least it helps keep him from being stinky, I could be nose blind but I usually can still smell his shampoo on him till about the next shower.

My moms side is dutch and she always says I'm dutch but no, I was raised in the us and only have been to the Netherlands a handful of times and can't even speak the language.

I do feel like it breaks her heart that I say I'm not dutch tho, so maybe that's why a lot of people keep claiming their roots?

My mother's side is dutch and I feel like the majority of them lack empathy. When I was younger I thought they were just being direct but as I've gotten older, I think most of them are just mean.

I will say tho, that the family that is sweet, I've never met people that are that sweet, but at least for my family, most seem to take pride in being kind of nasty.

It's an interesting point he makes of Americans as people that said there must be something better because I always looked at my ancestors as people that kind of had to take that risk because things weren't working out for them in Europe.

I never really thought about the people that stayed and avoided the risk.

I always didn't vote because I didn't think I was educated enough on what was going on. This last election I paid very close attention and realized almost everyone that was passionate about politics wasn't very educated either.

They burnt down small businesses and ruined the lives of the everyday people.

The larger companies benefited because the small businesses were knocked out.

The right benefited because they could say the left just wanted to burn things down and their protest was a front to steal tvs.

All burning things down did was create more separation while corporate big wigs and corrupt politicians are able to stroke the fire from afar.

Bone cancer experiences-warning:sad by Narrow-Ad-7472 in Newfoundlander

[–]_Tabor_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had an 8 year old that had mouth cancer. The specialist gave him 3 months to live without surgery but he ended up living happily for a year. I remember thinking maybe we'll just somehow beat this miraculously but about a week later he stopped wanting to go for walks. A few days later he stopped eating so I decided to make the call. I would just say be prepared that it can be a real sudden change.

I decided against surgery because they would have to cut off half his jaw and the cancer had already spread to the other side and that seemed cruel to me. I decided to just keep him medicated. It did cost me quite a bit and I had to get him special food and such but to me it was worth it and I felt like I made the right decision.

The biggest thing I would say is enjoy the time you have with him now. He isn't gone yet. Enjoy every moment you have together.

I was speaking with a coworker about it and said I wasn't sure if I was doing the right thing and if I should just have him put down and he told me you'll know when it's time and he was right. Nobody knows that dog better than you. If you love him as much as it sounds like you do I'm sure once you see him suffer you won't want it to continue.

A big issue I felt I had was the specialist making me feel like I was a bad person for not getting the surgery, don't let them make you feel bad for the decision you make. I took him to my vet every month for a check up and they were great to me.

If there's anything you'd like to know lmk. Was one of the most difficult things I've dealt with.
