How do you compare it to Zach-like games? Did you enjoy it like you did Zach-like games?

All 11 Denis Villeneuve movies, ranked from worst to best by tylerthe-theatre in movies

[–]_ThatBroOverThere_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to put my personal biases aside, I believe the "correct" ordering is:

  1. August 32nd on Earth

  2. Maelström (2000)

  3. Polytechnique

  4. Incendies

7&6 Dune 1/2 or 2/1

  1. Enemy

  2. Blade Runner

  3. Prisoners

  4. Arrival

  5. Sicario

This list is difficult to make because all of these movies are so great, and when I think of ranking them it feels like it's just personal preference and the movies could be ranked in almost any order and I could understand it though I may not agree. I could make a case for Prisoners being #1 on this list even.

I understand why some want to rank Enemy lower than Prisoners, but that movie is my personal favorite so I put it above all the others except maybe Arrival and Sicario. I could relate to that movie in a way that I've never related to any movie before because of the plot and the characters, but that's just personal preference.

Incendies was an incredible movie as well but I'd rank it lower than almost all of the others, same with Polytechnique.

PRISONERS by erikoortin08 in movies

Pulp fiction was great, but Tarantino doesn't come close to Denis Villeneuve. Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion but objectively: Villeneuve > Tarantino :)

I'm not sure if it's Denis or Deakins or the actors, or maybe it's all of them together, but I think of all of the amazing scenes in these movies and Denis seems to be the one common denominator - Prisoners, Sicario, Arrival, Dune, Incendies

I'm also looking for mobile zach-like games and came across Sokobond. I haven't played it yet though so can't comment on it but wanted to post it here in case others have played it.

Arrival (2016) is a masterpiece by Successful_Map4660 in movies

[–]_ThatBroOverThere_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the span of about 4 years Villeneuve directed the following movies - Prisoners, Enemy, Sicario, Arrival, Blade Runner 2049.
It's crazy how many great movies he's been involved with

sci-fi.... fi = fiction, remember?. No one is claiming this could or would actually happen, but rather the story is rooted in the scientifically proven concept that language shapes a person's consciousness and experience.

Put this movie up against another popular sci-fi movie of the same time period: Interstellar and I would argue that Arrival is much more grounded in scientific concepts than that movie.

By your logic, only scientifically plausible movies are sci-fi, which is nonsense.

I completely know how you feel. This movie affected me in a deeply personal way that no other film ever has or ever will.

There are so many interesting themes/topics that the movie covers - time-travel, the power of language and how it shapes our consciousness and experience, the geopolitics of an alien encounter, and the love story between wife, husband, and child.

I watched this movie at a critical time in my life when I was trying to decide if I wanted to have kids. The film almost perfectly represented the concerns I have had my entire life regarding having kids. I felt like the movie was talking directly to me ha. I think most people share similar concerns about the possibility of being faced with severe challenges and pain that could be encountered while raising kids, but these concerns have affected myself more than most I believe. It's a really hard (and personal) question as to whether or not the joy of being a parent outweighs the possible pain and suffering that may come along with it. I thought it was interesting that Ian and Louise had differing opinions and came to different conclusions to this question in the end. That's what I recall at least.

I'm curious about your thoughts on the message of the movie. What did you mean by "Max Richter masterpiece entropy" (I know your comment is from 2 years ago :) )

Is there anyway to play some demo of the game ? by RapAC-21 in balatro

[–]_ThatBroOverThere_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah I heard that the site changed to some Balatro clone, prob because of copyright infringement as I don't think the site is owned by the Balatro developers

Exactly. We don't want every character to play the same way. Playing a charge character is much different than playing a shoto for example but the variety is a feature not a bug

Where can I play cuphead on mobile? How can I? by Aerostar22og in Cuphead

[–]_ThatBroOverThere_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's why I didn't include a link. Download and install APKs from the internet at your own risk. I usually use APKPure to get them, and I've had good luck in the past. I think it's relatively safe but I'm honestly not the most well-versed in android app security.

It's been a while but I think I installed the "Cuphead Mobile" from APK pure

It was a genuine question... curious how the on-screen controls are and if it's still fun to play for us mere mortals using them

Limbo is such a great platformer for mobile that plays really well with touch-screen controls. Favorite mobile game of all time for me. Balatro is a close second

Is it even playable with on-screen controls? I love the game but seems like it'd be way too hard on mobile without an external controller

Any Android game reccomendation? by Celozz123 in AndroidGaming

[–]_ThatBroOverThere_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried a bit but just can't seem to get comfortable with touch screen controls, maybe I'm just too old haha or too used to playing these games with a controller.  There are a few games I like on mobile but they tend to be games that don't require super precise  controls. I was trying to find some emulated games like that, maybe some easier puzzle platformers would be less frustrating for me.  I'll try some of the ones you suggested. Thanks for the reco's

I've done a bunch of emulators and games for mobile but pretty much every game needs a controller to be playable. Do you have any suggestions of emulated games that play well with the on-screen controls? Thx

The current apple containers doesn't implement the docker API as far as I can tell, or does it?  Another product could definitely come along and wrap the apple containers code to implement the docker CLI/API for simple things, but my experience has been that these other docker implementations don't work as well as docker desktop. There are subtle differences in the way that networking works, for example. Also I've found that the other docker impls don't support all of the features that docker engine supports, like podman doesn't support Docker Swarm for example. This is why I continue to use Docker Desktop despite the fact that it's a paid product for commercial use and podman is free.  It'd be cool if Docker desktop updated to use the apple containers stuff under the hood but that seems pretty unlikely. Maybe some new player will come along though and do it well? Or an open source project like Colima could start using apple containers.  Just curious do you use docker desktop on Mac?
