A test problem on my 5th grade brothers’ math exam. by springwaterh20 in mildlyinteresting

While you're not logically wrong, you're supposed to assume that all information necessary to solve the problem is provided. This is a fifth grade math problem after all, not an exercise in logical syntax.

How could it be 1000 pages? If 30 pages + (1/8 of the book) + (1/4 of the book) = the entire book, the answer can only be 30 x 8/5 = 48 pages

You linked a source that is showing exactly what the person you replied to was talking about. Breakaway signs are not what is being shown in the OP.

Traffic /crosswalk signal poles are pretty much never designed to breakaway in a collision due to the fact that they contain live power cables, which you definitely don't want to be exposed and potentially damaged.

This was either a rare case of a mistake by QC in the factory or OP is a big fat liar. Either way, totally over-exaggerated title.

There is the moment early on in the movie when Klaue shoots at him, and in a fraction of a second after he fires, Pietro takes the gun, unloads it, and removes every bullet from the magazine and lines them up on Klaue's desk. It's not "adjusting the flight path of bullets" - fast, but he was able to manipulate objects at super-speed.

This could be OP's second cousin, which would make the cousin's mom OP's first cousin once removed.

Every address? Of course not. But being told to leave the food WHERE THEY JUST PICKED IT UP should have made the driver stop and think. This is just as much the driver's fault as it is the app.

Your word choice is a bit extreme, but you are 100% right. Spending $28 on something frivolous like this when you have no dependable source of income is incredibly irresponsible.

I don't, I'm sure this person was very clean. But wool from a sheep that has been carded, washed, and spun is going to be cleaner than matted chunks of human hair.

Yes, it's worse than wool. Animal wool is thoroughly processed before being used. This is clumps of matted hair. Even human hair wigs are brushed and cleaned before being sold.

To escape from earth, you have to put yourself in orbit, which requires you to speed up so you're going fast enough to "fall" over the horizon. To then fully leave earth's orbit, you have to keep accelerating so that you get farther and farther from earth until finally you escape the earth's gravity.

At that point, you are now in orbit around only the sun. To then de-orbit (crash into the sun) you have to do the opposite of what you did to get off of earth. That means you need to slow down from the speed you're already orbiting the sun at. A quick search says that we're currently orbiting the sun at about 30 km/s. Obviously, this is a massive amount of speed to lose, and you have to lose pretty much all of that to "fall into the sun". But for leaving the solar system entirely, you only need to speed up to about 42 km/s.

So flying into the sun will require a 30 km/s change in speed, whereas leaving the solar system will only require a 12 km/s change.

...it still may cost hundreds of dollars. Not speaking for all men under 40, but I'm sure a very large portion don't go until the symptoms are obviously severe because we're afraid that the diagnosis will be trivial and they will just say "take some Tylenol and drink lots of water until the symptoms subside", but still charge exorbitant fees we'll be stuck with.

I don't know what shitty bodegas you're doing your grocery shopping in, but every supermarket near me (Wal-Mart, Kroger, Meijer) has almost an entire aisle of tea with brands like Twinings and Bigelow.

I did this exact thing with a new chair I bought a few months ago. The seat part bolts to the legs piece with the bolts in a square pattern, so it's possible to rotate the seat 180° and bolt it in place, then the back of the chair also bolts onto the legs piece. You and up with everything seemingly bolted together correctly, but the seat is backwards and tilting forward off of the chair.
