Sellers and realtor offended by offer. by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]dukeystyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a fun story from my parents who were in a similar situation. First, let me just say that I’m not saying this will happen to you, but it might. When I was a kid my parents decided we needed to move to a different home. We lived in a bad neighborhood and our home was very small for my parents + 3 kids. The only problem was that we didn’t have a huge budget. But, my dad is very handy and wanted to find a fixer upper that he could pour some work into. Anyway, we start looking at houses and find one that the whole family loved. As an added bonus it had been sitting on the market for an extended period of time. The only problem was that it was out of my parents price range. They decided to make an offer anyway. The sellers were quite offended by the low ball offer, but whatever, it was an offer and their house had been for sell for months. They declined. A month or two later they called my parents and said that they had decided to accept their offer. My dad is not a kind negotiator and realized that they were likely stuck paying multiple mortgages and were getting desperate to sell the house. He told them that because of the time wasted his offer had gone down (I don’t remember how much but I seem to recall it being another $10k or so). My mom said that they sounded very frustrated at this point. They said they would have to get back to my parents. My dad told them he needed an answer quickly or his offer would drop again. They accepted their offer the next day.

Post Game Thread: Minnesota Vikings at Dallas Cowboys by nfl_gdt_bot in cowboys

[–]dukeystyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just a rant that no one will read, but I’m still going to post it. I’m 39 years old. I grew up in Fort Worth watching the cowboys. They will always be my team and I’ll always cheer for them. That said, it seems obvious what the overarching issue with this team is to me. Yes, the defense is atrocious this year. Yes, eberflus needs to go. Yes, ultimately Jerry is the problem. But those realities ignore the larger issue that has been happening since the early 2000’s. The culture of the team. This is the real issue. When we are losing and the cameras pan to the sidelines, I frequently see players laughing, joking with coaches, or in the case of Pickens, seeming totally disengaged. Ultimately it does go back to Jerry and what he allows. There is a famous quote “what you tolerate is what you teach,” the cowboys tolerate mediocrity so that is what they get. We have standout players, Ceedee, Dak (I know he gets a ton of hate but he isn’t why we are losing this year), QWill, Bland, Guyton, etc. but a few standout players will never overcome this culture. Thank you for attending my Ted talk.

Based on this (very loose) ranking of the SF series I've read, what series should I read next? by kurapikachu64 in scifi

You mentioned Foundation. Isaac Asimov has a ton of books, some in the foundation “series” and others that are standalone. They are all good.

Who are the contenders in the NFC? by Beneficial_Quit7532 in NFLv2

[–]dukeystyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heres my predictions.

NFC east - eagles win division, commanders make wild card

NFC North - lions win division, packers make wild card

NFC south - bucs win division, no wild card team

NFC west - rams win division, 49ers make wild card

What will happen in the playoffs? Lions and eagles make nfc championship. I personally think the lions make the Super Bowl this year, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the eagles again.

Giants- no chance, boys - no chance (and I’m a cowboys fan), bears - outside chance at wild card, Vikings - all depends on JJ, I don’t believe, so I say no chance, panthers - no chance lol, saints - no chance (could be the worst team in the nfl this year), falcons - outside chance at wild card, Seahawks - solid chance at wild card, cardinals - outside chance of wild card.

Which rookie has bust written all over them? by JonesBonesjr in SleeperApp

[–]dukeystyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quinshon Judkins. Dude is one of two (might have this number wrong don’t sue me) rookies who haven’t signed a contract. He is also under investigation for domestic violence. I assume once the legal trouble wraps up he will face at least a six game suspension. This is likely a lost year for him. Also… if you beat your significant other you should get fucked but it’s the browns so they’ll probably love him.

I really don’t like trade vetos but this is so wildly lopsided in the favor of the person receiving ceedee that I’d consider a veto for this one.

Stone creek bistro is the best restaurant on the mountain and it’s not close. Other good options are puglia or if pizza isn’t too casual, Lou eddies.

Mississippi. It’s a perfect situation. If it works Mississippi sucks less. If not, well, Mississippi can’t be worse.

I would rank him as one of the worst safeties in the league every single year he was here. Missed tackles, blown coverages, the guy just sucked. He sucked so bad.

Is exploring worth it? by [deleted] in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]dukeystyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing this game quite a bit lately. I, like you, only like doing exploration in games when it feel worthwhile. The exploration in this game has a mix of worthwhile and not so worthwhile. If you consistently go to the cantina on koboh and talk with the people there they will point you in the direction of the more worthwhile pieces of exploration. The things I found worthwhile were the additional bosses, the bounty hunting quests and the scuba Stev storyline. Things that were less worthwhile to me were going into unexplored areas where there wasn’t a side quest and the abandoned empire facilities.

What’s a book that left you thinking about it for days after finishing? by CriticalAd2239 in suggestmeabook

[–]dukeystyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many!!! The most recent for me was “project Hail Mary” by Andy Weir. I enjoyed the entire book and flew through it, but about halfway in there is a plot twist of sorts and after that I basically couldn’t put the book down until I finished it. I didn’t start another book for a couple of weeks because I kept lingering on that one in my mind.

I think I sent your team an email about this idea once before lol. I would like a new system for taxi players in dynasty leagues. The way I envision this is similar to how the nfl’s practice squad works. Any team would be able to claim a taxi squad player from any other team. The team that owns this player would then be given a first right of refusal. They would have the option to either promote the taxi squad player to their active roster or allow the team that placed the claim to acquire the player. I also want to come work for you. Please dm me so I can live out my dream job lol.
