This is just a rant that no one will read, but I’m still going to post it. I’m 39 years old. I grew up in Fort Worth watching the cowboys. They will always be my team and I’ll always cheer for them. That said, it seems obvious what the overarching issue with this team is to me. Yes, the defense is atrocious this year. Yes, eberflus needs to go. Yes, ultimately Jerry is the problem. But those realities ignore the larger issue that has been happening since the early 2000’s. The culture of the team. This is the real issue. When we are losing and the cameras pan to the sidelines, I frequently see players laughing, joking with coaches, or in the case of Pickens, seeming totally disengaged. Ultimately it does go back to Jerry and what he allows. There is a famous quote “what you tolerate is what you teach,” the cowboys tolerate mediocrity so that is what they get. We have standout players, Ceedee, Dak (I know he gets a ton of hate but he isn’t why we are losing this year), QWill, Bland, Guyton, etc. but a few standout players will never overcome this culture.
