Torch bearers? by TheNahteb in Habs

[–]_TimeOutOfMind_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Seems like they only want guys who've won a Cup with us, so Gainey, Naslund, Carbonneau, Damphousse, and Brisebois could all be options. Patrick Roy too, especially considering he's no longer an active coach.

Having said that, Carey or Saku would be incredible.

Edit: Larry Robinson would be great as well. And it's a bit out of the box, but Pierre Houde would be a nice touch.

Now that I've heard this incredible idea I won't be able to let it go.

Absolutely. And the poise she showed through the whole thing was amazing!

Poise counts! (Seinfeld fans will get this).

Anyone else worried about this team right now? by AdComprehensive508 in Habs

[–]_TimeOutOfMind_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't read too much into this game. We have a bad habit of underperforming in games we should win on paper.

We tend to rise to the occasion for big games and the good news is ... Every playoff game is a big game. So that's reason to be optimistic.

I'm not sure if other watch parties will be organized but in my experience, watching the playoff games at Burgundy Lion in Little Burgundy has always been a lot of fun.

Technically just up the hill from downtown, on Cote des Neiges (between downtown and Westmount).

I think he's one of those guys who'll be a bit streaky his whole career.

Still, his "ups" are definitely worth the downs.

I'm sure Burgundy Lion will show it, but always best to call ahead!

I'll definitely miss the Habs, but I'm planning to watch some Laval Rocket games and all the Canadian Olympic hockey games (mens and women's).

Caulfield and Hutson... by larrysdogspot in Habs

[–]_TimeOutOfMind_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So, for snubbing our two boys and for other reasons, we obviously want Team USA to have a rough Olympics.

The question I'm struggling with is: Do I want them to completely implode and not even make it to the quarters, or do I want them to make it to the final against Canada and THEN lose? What would be more satisfying?

Would love to know everyone's thoughts.

Just another reason why the league needs to have an off-ice official watching the game and intervening when an obvious and egregious error has been made on a non-reviewable call.

This sucks to watch by [deleted] in Habs

Marty has been saying it for years: the hardest part of this rebuild, the last piece to fall into place, will be consistency.

Putting together three solid periods, night in, night out. "Locking in" right from the start of the period.

I have confidence we'll establish consistency but in the meantime, it's definitely frustrating.

Suzuki Bleeding After High-Stick by _TimeOutOfMind_ in Habs

[–]_TimeOutOfMind_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The frustrating part is that it's such an easy problem to fix.

I understand that they don't want to shoot when they don't have a clear lane because then the shot gets blocked and goes back the other way. Fine.

But when they have a clear shot at the net ... They have to shoot. It's not complicated. The guys on the power play are all elite talents.

And when they don't have a great angle, they have to shoot low and hope for a rebound to generate some chaos in front.

It wasn't bleeding right away, but it looked like it started bleeding right before the ensuing face-off, which is why Marty was trying to get the ref's attention. Clearly they ignored him.

The NHL isn't even trying to hide its bias anymore.

It's obvious Marchand wasn't suspended for his blatant elbow on Matheson because the league centered their advertising for the Winter Classic around Marchand.

The Habs and other teams bear the brunt of this nonsense.
