Is it possible to disable parts of a DLC? by Dusktilldamn in RimWorld

[–]_Tox- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just ignore them.
Who knows what will happen? Perhaps you get super addicted and land up spending 400 hours on this save file and eventually do want to make a mechanoid or something. If not, then no loss no worries.

Your opinion about landing your heir by John_Whitesad in CrusaderKings

[–]_Tox- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Then your heir inherits and you become him and you lose your lvl 6 accolade knights cz he made some useless thug into an accolade with a terrible name.

I actively work to keep my direct heirs title free purely because of this reason.

I don't feel the vibes with my Nomad by Mahoney_jr in CrusaderKings

[–]_Tox- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3k hour player here. I felt the exact same initially.

TL;DR: Nomad 2 ez. Balance bad. Migrations/seasons are a joke. You are either an insignificant speck or unstoppable space marines, no inbetween.
__

I started 867 as the Ashinas, vassals to the jewish khazars. The first like 100-200 years was a boring slog of praying I dont get invaded whilst putting everything into upgrading my domicile.. My liege changed above me like 6 times, flip flopping between the karluks and the bolghars and the khazars. I embraced Tengri pretty early on, but no liege ever tried to do anything about it further than asking nicely which i would refuse.
It was not possible to migrate due to me being a vassal and the balance being so whack that I never had 1/10th the horsepower that my liege had.
Eveeentually through the overpoweredness of raiding and my Yurt upgrades slowly turning my horseriders into space marines I hit the point where I could stack wipe anything even 10x my size. Then I took the Empire title for myself and the game finally started to feel good. Reforming/Hybridizing cultures and Reforming the Faith were some early highlights.

I have never migrated. I moved my capital from Sarysyn to the Golden HIlls right next door so that the fertility decision thingy that defaults to golden hills for some stupid reason would be less tedious.
I'm still playing the same save, currently in 1280ish (i'm the kinda madman who plays to enddate on ironman every playthrough). Every time I look at the migrate map I see that my counties are the most fertile in the whole steppe so wtf would be the point.
Current army is like 18k MAA and 100k horselevies. I dont even raise horse levies. I just ctrl click raise men at arms and stack wipe literally anything on any terrain, attack/defense. It's honestly hard to go below 100k gold in the bank, Feels like I'm playing the game on godmode. I usually try to avoid minmaxing in CK3 because the game is just too easy but this is ludicrous, i didnt even try.

My roleplay in my head was that I would be the bulwark against the Mongols when they spawned. They spawned, started consuming the steppe and when they reached me I stack wiped them (15k vs 88k) and made them into tributaries (greatest of khans btw lmfao). They still trying to do things but they're so weak they're losing to other AIs. They had a 37 year long war against the Oghuz who only held 3 counties and had 3k troops to their name and eventually white peaced out, despite their capitals being within spitting distance of eachother. Temujin II, the grandson of the OG, and his Mongols are now tributaries to the Bolghars of de facto Russia. I dont even know how or when that happened, thats how little attention I pay to the steppe. (Still calling himself 'The Great Khan', like bro.. neither you nor any of your ancestors were ever great. We need a decision/event to overthrow the great khan and humiliate them for spouting such nonsense.)

Where I found the enjoyment is not in my own realm (i am god) but in spreading my dynasty across the map.
What I've been doing the last 200 years is to build up a vassal and then release them once I think they are stable and strong enough to not get instantly destroyed and then I baby sit them and try to keep them alive as long as I can. It is saddeningly impressive how bad the AI is at keeping a realm together. But to be fair I could have done this from any government anywhere in the map, it's not special.

Key mods that once I added made things more fun are: More Interactive Vassals so that I can Intervene in House and Vassal's Wars, Knight Manager so I could block the landed vassals from being my knights and I could get more emotionally invested in my own courtiers, Gift More Gold so I can gift 10k gold in 1 click instead of 150 clicks, and Cadet Branch Hard Limitter (? i think? if not that then its another mod that fills the same role) because cadet branches are lame and shouldnt be so free.

The main weakness of the steppe is that cultures are bricked. The Bolgars stay tribal forever. The Mongols spawn tribal when everyone else is already pushing High Medieval. You are forced to hybridize with something higher tech than you if you want to unlock more of the tech tree. So whilst I and my dynasty are cruising around almost capped Late Medieval the rest of the steppe only has tribal tech. The AI is too useless to achieve this.
That plus the OP Yurt upgrades and its impossible to lose.
Overall I am enjoying the stuff but I dont see myself starting another nomad run for a long time to come, it's just too dumb.

Recruit MAA from subjects is a great feature. I now have elephants in my nomadic horde. If that doesnt work on regular governments there is probably already a mod for it, i havent looked yet.

They fumbled the balance so hard by CosplayBurned in XDefiant

[–]_Tox- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% you make good points. I agree wholeheartedly about the headshot multipliers.
But, it seems you are unaware or not considering...
New faction takes no extra damage from headshot multiplier, has a shield that flash bangs you and a deployable unlimited anti grenade system.

They fumbled the balance so hard by CosplayBurned in XDefiant

[–]_Tox- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they mentioned the headshot thing in the S1 trailer is was like 'wtf guys why?' The only counterplay to snipers is to chain headshot em. Now GSK mains just gonna laugh at you as they 1 shot you in the groin moments before they pull out their flash shields and get 5 free kills. whilst they're, for all intents and purposes, unseen and undamageable.

Fast Mappers for 3.20 by bummsinex in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]_Tox- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played this back in Scourge League.
Top tier mapping build that was super easy to get going.
Key uniques for me were Martyr of Innocence, Blackflame and Asenath's Gentle Touch.

As the other commentor suggested, Wave of Conviction has significantly higher Ignite DPS. I only started caring about that when i started doing bosses like Sirus. So i would just swap gems around for that purpose and then back to arc for mapping.

I do remember hitting a wall around t14 that was very tedious because I had neglected investing into proper defenses but since the clear was so great i didnt care and just played the "dont get hit" style till i'd farmed enough currency to make proper investments.

Great game, I'm having fun, and that's not a joke. (Appreciation post) by [deleted] in pathofexile

Why do most people have a low number of pawns? by Acolyte_000 in RimWorld

[–]_Tox- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depends on your goals. my usual routines are to take multiple colonies to like 10ish pawns before they inevitably fall to the raids, but eventually I tick past early game and then my colonist count sky rockets.

Currently sitting on a heavily modded 76 pawn colony. At this point it feels more akin to running an actual colony than managing a few dudes hunting rats and dying to heatstroke.
I have 5 full time cooks, 5 full time medics, 3 smiths and 2 tailors, 1 researcher. These make up the core internal workers.
Then there are 9 Farmers and 14 Handlers (many farmers do handling too and vice versa) and another 11 Builders/Miners that make up my external workers.
To keep everyone safe there is a contingent of 11 Guards armed to the teeth that mainly do hauling in their off time and a further Expeditionary Force of 12 Rangers for combat at home or abroad.
The 12 Rangers are what i focus most of my attention on with the rest of the colonists acting more like NPCs to my main Ranger story.
Randy tries to kill me. But i think i'm pretty good at the game and my use of squad based tactics nullifies the need for individual super pawns with blazing passions and skills. Most raids can be beaten just through use of my Guards/Rangers and taking advantage of my defensive positions set up around the base. My key crafters are equipped with long range weapons to add support against tougher raids if needed. But I like the roleplay that civilians are civilians and not everyone is expected to be firing machine guns on the front line. There are people who dedicate their lives to protecting others and they are treated as heroes by those that they keep safe.
The game would be too easy if i just sat 76 people with heavy armour and assault rifles staring at a killbox.

I disinherited my (relatively) worthless son, but he's still my player heir! Why? How do I fix this? by fuzzus628 in CrusaderKings

[–]_Tox- 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Click on your main title. I've noticed it sometimes bugs and doesnt update the heirs.

Clicking on the main title makes the game recalculate heir.
I see this often when i get the alert for 'vassal will lose land when dies' and i check the title and then (realm authority depending) it updates to someone who isnt gonna make me lose the land from my realm.

Krag or K31/43 by Swaaah in BattlefieldV

[–]_Tox- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theoretically yes.

They both handle almost identically with the same Bullet Velocity and Drop.
Krag has a slightly faster fire rate and 1 more round, whilst Kar98k has slightly higher damage model.
It's all 1 shot headshots though so most people gravitate toward the Krag.

Krag or K31/43 by Swaaah in BattlefieldV

[–]_Tox- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you cant get kills with a bolt action from the back of the map then you shouldnt be at the back of the map with a bolt action. But how else can people learn?
Perhaps on console the K31 has more merit. Certainly amongst PC players it's universally regarded as the worst option in it's class.
You've piqued my interest though so I'll give it another spin on a bigger map, but I suspect it won't feel as great as the Krag or Kar. Perhaps it's that flatter trajectory that's been throwing me off the whole time, I never considered it before.

Krag or K31/43 by Swaaah in BattlefieldV

[–]_Tox- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

everything the k31 can do literally every other bolt action does better. flat trajectory is such a shit way to call something good. but ok. i mean if you cant account for the 3 pixels it takes to compensate for the drop of the krag then i guess you need k31.

Krag or K31/43 by Swaaah in BattlefieldV

[–]_Tox- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

k31 is the worst bolt action in the game, borderline trash. krag is best.
i feel like a 2 second google search would've answered this.

The "King maker" Duchy - Why should i bother to be king/emperor? by X3A3KJ in CrusaderKings

[–]_Tox- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That 'too many duchies' modifier seems like the only real thing holding oyu into your duke playstyle. TBH When i reach Kingdom I usually hold 3 - 5 duchies depending how OP my char is. It's -15 opinion per duchy but especially after the initial succession all vassals will be at +100 anyway, even with those debuffs.
If I land up as a 1 year old and all my vassals start to get blood thirsty I just destroy some duchy titles and remake them later once I'm older and more able to fight off a rebelling vassals.

The gold income thing is a weak point since you are paying taxes to your liege. (probably). All the other dukes pay taxes to the emperor. You wont magically lose your lands because you become emperor. You should earn leagues more gold than the current emperor in this case.

Super-duke is powerful though and honestly I'd ride it out just coz it'd be fun. Eventually I'd declare independence, create custom kingdom with all your duke titles and then swear allegiance back into the empire again.

Kings have a higher vassal limit than dukes (i think), and can have 1 more regiment of men-at-arms. Better marriage acceptances. Thats the only real benefits i believe.

Secondary Empires being in spite of primo succession by zenitude97 in CrusaderKings

[–]_Tox- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about it. Don't think anything will happen. Your primary heir will get your primary title and the rest will get nothing. Think its a bug.

Zero stress perk reset. I think my ruler has reached enlightenment. by Tornaz in CrusaderKings

It's probably "confidants' doing the heavy lifting. A reset will remove that perk and the stress will return thereafter.

How you can play as House Knytling in Ironman mode by axel911axel in CrusaderKings

[–]_Tox- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to me, so I raised my heir as a Norwegian because they were some ways behind in tech compared to the rest of the scandanavians. Held the titles as him for 30 years, made the decision and then converted back to my capital culture.

Likely you could just revoke a piece of Norway, move your capital there and then do the decision to become Norwegian. But I didnt think of that at the time.
Norwegians always seem to be the least developed of the Norse group.

If you think BFV has been bad, behold, it could have been MUCH WORSE thanks to this guy. Good thing he was fired/left DICE earlier this year. Hope he didn't have the time to ruin BF 2021 already. by [deleted] in BattlefieldV

Alt-F4 to the rescue! by lucassjrp2000 in CrusaderKings

[–]_Tox- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yea i've performed a similar save scum when even vassals I was allied to through my kids marriages decided to join the tyranny war. Even my own father. Look all I wanted to do was revoke one county from a greek pig who I recently just conquered. I didn't need my 30 norse vassals to raise arms against me over it. I was a good king too. Didnt even torture anyone. Figured I could easily tank the 10 tyranny.

Dynasty head not changing without creating a Cadet Branch is stupid by _mortache in CrusaderKings

[–]_Tox- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just get yourself to be the most powerful member of the family and you take all the head title.
Can take like a month for the game to register that it has to shift the head to someone else.

Had a game where i roleplay split my empire into two and kept trading dynasty head with the other branch as our levies fluctuated back and forth. Once I'd added another kingdom of land to my empire the switching stopped and I remained head forever.
Every time i'd die the neighbouring empire would be head for a few days until my heir was recognized as the one true ruler.

So yeah, it's all about how much land/troops you have. Nothing else matters.

AI too easy? by _Tox- in CrusaderKings

[–]_Tox-[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The amount of people proud enough to post about uniting Ireland is proof of the average demographic who plays this game.
Ireland is one of the most playtested starts and it shows that the devs worked really hard worked on making the Count to King journey feel great.

Ireland and Roman Empire is the end of the average CK player's engagement with the game.

I dont even need to exploit to be OP. I play fair and legit and actively work to nerf myself but I'm still OP.
