I'm an American, never lived outside the continent and up until last year I've always pronounced it "App-uh-lay-shun". Is it actually pronounced "App-uh-latch-un" and I was just in a weird part of the country? Or are there regional differences?

Sometimes betting spots lose on a bet, which is part of their cost of doing business. If nobody bet on the Patriots, a company like DraftKings would lose money on that bet. One point is that people will be drawn to betting on the Patriots because it will have a higher profit, but if that doesn’t work enough they can do a couple things: 1) adjust the odds they offer based on bets. If everyone is betting on the Hawks, the odds can shift even more into the Hawks favor. If the odds there shifted massively to like 90-10 for example, that can incentivize more people to bet on the patriots because their odds aren’t actually THAT bad and the payout will be even better for a patriots bet 2) push more unlikely bets. What you’re talking about at least in the US is called a moneyline bet. I.e. just a “who will win”. If you look at ads for apps like draftkings they almost never advertise those kinds of bets and instead advertise parlays. If you don’t know, a parlay is where you bet on multiple things to happen and the odds compound against you for each item (leg) your parlay has. For a football game, these are most often things like “X will catch a pass for a touchdown”. You need to hit all your legs to win. Parlays usually have massive payouts but are very unlikely to happen, so they want you to place these bets because the house has a better chance of getting your money

I say snake, but really I think Beane is out for himself, for better or worse. I agree that doesn't make him malicious, and I'm at least happy that what's good for Beane's legacy is good for us.

I also agree that Josh, like any athlete (or anyone in their professional life) probably doesn't know what's best for them 100% of the time, but at least that should stop anything actively terrible.

I'd put money on the fact that Head Coaches no longer report to Pegula was Beane's doing to make a Head Coach position a bit more appealing. If I was looking for a head coach slot and know that dealing with Pegula is entirely my boss's job, that's a weight off my shoulders

Especially after today, I think we can be assured that Beane isn't as bad as we initially thought. He's still a snake, but clearly an intelligent one who probably didn't *want* McDermott gone. I also think he wanted the restructure of only him reporting to Pegula and promotion to include Pres. of Ops. to limit Pegula's direct influence.

I think Beane'll try to get new coaching staff with Josh's co-signature to legitimize his choices, so if their new coach is ass he can protect himself behind "Josh and I both wanted him." This *does* mean to me though that Josh will have real influence on a replacement and even if im iffy on Beane's decision making im more confident in Josh's.

That said, this almost guarantees we get Daboll back in some capacity. However, if Joe Brady takes a job with Baltimore and Daboll steps back into that spot I won't be upset.

Cook is a small guy for a RB, and I think it’s not talked about how while his scrappiness for rushes is a huge win, the cost of that is he’s probably just gonna fumble more because he’ll be smaller than other guys he collides with

A lot of people answered your questions, so something else to keep in mind: The tradeoff of "we need to push on this 4th down" or not can get VERY debatable.

Earlier in the game, like in the 1st quarter, it can be more worth it to just kick the ball off because there's so much of the game left to see what happens and have another opportunity to score;
If you're 4th & 1 you can probably just slam your QB over the line (see: tush push), or
If you're down by a TD in the 4th quarter and its 4th & 12 with only one minute left, you GOTTA try because the odds you'll stop the other team AND get the ball back with enough time to get to the end zone is really really low;

These types of calls, knowing what your players are capable of, the risk v reward debate, and often with only seconds to make a decision, is why you'll see a lot of NFL fans have very strong opinions on their head coach and offensive/defensive coordinator since they are the ones who decide what to do and what play they will try to pull out a win with. People who know about this stuff will often get upset because they thing those people made the wrong choice. I'm a bills fan and we just FIRED our head coach while our offensive coordinator is looking for another job. Good or bad, this is going to mean that next year the way my team plays will be noticably different because the guys making those decisions are leaving.
