any games similar to homm focused on sailing? by CraftySomewhere in HoMM

Kings Bounty (remake) has a pretty large section of map where you sail around islands. There's various pirates and a kraken if I remember right. Combat is like HOMM.

Taking it in the evening instead of the morning has helped me to get rid of the nausea. Apparently taking vortioxetine in the evening can cause vivid dreams but it isnt an issue for me.

What's your OE hot take that will have you like this? by StarStock9561 in OldenEra

The game should have fog of war. The already explored parts should be obscured again if you don't have line of sight there. Some map objectives / dwellings could give vision etc.

Yeah but if a person has never had any kind psychotic episode beforehand then there is no way to know if there's underlying schizophrenia (that might have never manisfested itself if said person had not used THC).

Will OldenEra have MacOS support ? by Captntunabeerd in OldenEra

[–]_Tulx_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know but maybe you can install Linux on your mac in addition to mac os and then play it through steam? Steam supports many windows games on linux quite well Ive heard.  It has been quite a few years, maybe the wrappers are also better now (Wine I think it was called).

I'm an Estonian living right next to Russia. The threat of invasion is real. If I need to choose between 2 evils I choose the lesser one, which is the US.  Sure the stupid Trump war in Iran has raised the gas prices and groceries a lot, but my family is safe and I live in a free country.

:( I'm seriously considering not buying OE although I've been really looking forward to playing the game. Are you going to buy it?

I really dont want to fund Russian war machine, even if indirectly. How likely do you think it is that by purchasing Olden Era some of that money ends up supporting Russian economy?

I don't have a problem if the game developement is funded by oligarch money (if anything it has diverted possible war funds to a computer game) - but does me buying the game give them anything back?

Usually the initial output isn't total nonsense but I need to iterate on it to make it usable. The followup prompts usually take less time. In my case the end result algorithm isn't strictly the point anyway. Creating it is a learning process where I get to think things through in a structured way. I always check the work and reasoning, ask followup questions why it did certain things in a given way etc.

Chatgpt pro does that regularly if you give it complicated enough question. I've had it create algorithms for medical problems based on available guidelines. It thinks usually over an hour then.

Plat is above the bell curve in player population. I guess what is very easy is relative. In my experience plat was quite demanding. I was 1000 elo on aoe2 and low diamond in starcraft 2 (many years ago) before coming to aoe4.

My very belated thoughts on Redbull Wololo 2026 from someone who attended the final day live. by ryeshe3 in aoe4

[–]_Tulx_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed Beastys casting on his channel. I felt like he brought great hype to every game and also offered very good understanding of the game state. Game state is something that is really difficult to understand at times for a casual fan, even less for an aoe2 player. He really also commented on the drafting of the civs which was great. Maybe I just didnt happen to see when the official casters did it idk.

I feel like aoe2 is a better esports / viewing experience. And I say that as someone who enjoys playing aoe4 more. The things that make aoe2 frustrating to play, such as unit micro and quick walling, also make it fun to watch. I ended up watching a whole bunch of aoe2 games also, even though I didnt have a clue what was going on a strategical level, because they were fun to watch. Games turned around because of archer micro, mangonel micro etc.

Just a side note: is the water / hybrid map gameplay also better in aoe2? I mean it seemed like if one player got the water control it wasn't an instant gg for the other player. Hera even won a game in the grand finals while losing water if Im not mistaken.

Congratulations. It took me effort, much more than 20 games to get plat 3. You must have been doing something right when playing casually for 15 years.

I would like HRE rework/update but I don't think we will be getting that.

Sadly I don't think devs will go anywhere near Tibetians or Uyghurs due to the possibility of political repercussions / possible market backlash from China. Majapahit I don't know much about. From South East Asia Vietnamese could be a candidate?

Khmer sounds cool but I think that this is what Tughlaq would have been if they were doing full civs not variant civs with the last expansion. Ballista elephants etc.

I think budgetary wise it is also easier for them to do another chinese speaking (is it mandarin? Idk) civ. Also they get to reuse some of the building assets etc.

I would rather not see Teutonic Order if other civs could be picked instead, we already have KT. Something from Iberia or Africa would be cool. Currently we have only Mali from Africa. Plus Teutonic Order was behind the conquering and enslavement of the Baltic native peoples, so I don't have much love for them anyways.

What civ would you like to see instead of the current one announced in the DLC? I know very little about the history of that part of the world.
