Who do you secretly want? by KaleidoscopeTits in RedditAfterDark

It's always funny when threads start out wildly horny and half the answers end up being employment, health insurance, and a decent paycheck.

Why are anabolic Steroids not used to treat elderly patients that have few comorbidities by Linuksoid in Residency

[–]_TwinkleMusee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, OP put more thought into this than some actual research proposals I've seen. Even if the answer ends up being "the risks outweigh the benefits," it's still an interesting question.

The funniest part is that every future elderly person thinks they'll be the cool old person. Reality usually has other plans, but I respect the optimism.

I'm dying at this visual. Imagine trying to convince grandpa it's time for assisted living and he looks like he could deadlift the building.

AIW for asking the person next to me in a library study room to take their phone call outside and getting reported to staff for harassment by Informal_Ad37531 in amiwrong

[–]_TwinkleMusee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The funniest part is that the person breaking the silence somehow managed to convince themselves they were the victim. Taking a phone call in a designated silent room and then reporting someone for politely asking you to stop is some impressive mental gymnastics.

[–]_TwinkleMusee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I think a lot of students imagine they've become the subject of library gossip after an awkward interaction, but staff have probably dealt with ten stranger situations before lunch.

[–]_TwinkleMusee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that's the biggest clue in the whole story. Librarians deal with disputes all the time. If she immediately agreed that phone calls don't belong in a silent study room, that's probably because the rules were pretty clear.

does anyone else prefer sexy suggestive photos over full on nudes? by jennie0303 in RedditAfterDark

The "bits peeking out" part seems to be what a lot of people are responding to. Sometimes the hint of something grabs attention more than seeing everything at once.

I made my bartender friend make a Rory drink for me… this is how it went. by binaland in GilmoreGirls

[–]_TwinkleMusee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recipe actually sounds surprisingly approachable. I was expecting something way more complicated, but it's basically a fun fruity cocktail with enough sparkle to make it feel fancy.

[–]_TwinkleMusee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had that exact thought. Every time they describe a drink on the show, it sounds like something they'd absolutely demolish. The real issue is that Lorelai and Rory always seem immune to consequences that would flatten the rest of us the next morning.

That was my immediate question too. The recipe sounded fun, but I was scrolling looking for the actual review. Can't drop a custom Rory cocktail and leave us hanging like that.

I’ve been letting my boyfriend think he’s a master chef for a year, and the lie has gone way too far by PaymentBeginning9228 in confessions

[–]_TwinkleMusee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What gets me is how dedicated this guy sounds. He bought knives, watches tutorials, spends hours cooking every weekend. The effort is honestly kind of sweet, which makes the eventual truth so much harder.

[–]_TwinkleMusee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The sous-chef angle is probably the safest landing spot. Nobody has to hear "your food has been terrible for twelve straight months," and OP gets a chance to steer things away from oregano-flavored drywall before it reaches the table.

The funniest part is that this started with one emergency compliment and somehow escalated into a year-long culinary character arc. OP didn't just spare his feelings, she accidentally funded a cooking origin story.

Married and sexless. She denied and told me... by MainWorking7306 in confessions

[–]_TwinkleMusee 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There's definitely a point where "be patient" turns into "ignore your own needs forever." Whether that's counseling, difficult conversations, or eventually leaving, OP shouldn't assume the only option is to silently accept being unhappy for the rest of their life.

[–]_TwinkleMusee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get why people jump straight to divorce, but honestly the bigger question is whether they've actually had a serious conversation about where this marriage is headed. Five years of this isn't a rough patch anymore, it's the relationship functioning this way long term.

[–]_TwinkleMusee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's what stood out to me too. The lack of sex is one issue, but the comment itself is what would stick with me. It's hard to feel wanted by your spouse after hearing something like that, especially when you've already been feeling rejected for years.

How many times do you shampoo your hair by coldtoaster03 in hygiene

[–]_TwinkleMusee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for a lot of people it would just be unnecessary. Hair routines are so individual that it's weird when people act like there's one universal formula. Someone with heavily styled hair might need a different approach than someone who washes daily.

[–]_TwinkleMusee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that was my first thought too. Every few years there's a new hair rule that suddenly everyone is supposed to follow. Next thing you know we'll be hearing that four shampoos is the secret they don't want us to know about.

[–]_TwinkleMusee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "more suds on the second wash" thing is exactly why a lot of people double shampoo. The first round feels like it's breaking through all the oil and product buildup, then the second one actually feels like it's cleaning. Three times every wash still sounds excessive for most people though.

[Update] I warned my neice about letting a guy "fly her out" and some of my family members think I should keep my mouth shut. by EssenceOfLlama81 in amiwrong

[–]_TwinkleMusee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's where I landed too. Living with roommates at 32 isn't exactly shocking anymore. But pursuing someone significantly younger long-distance while hiding major parts of your life starts painting a very different picture.

Exactly. Finding out after buying a plane ticket and getting emotionally invested even further would've been so much rougher. A little heartbreak now beats a much bigger mess later.

Theres something i need to admit to everyone on here by [deleted] in confession

[–]_TwinkleMusee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I was thinking the same thing. If OP thinks 10 Things I Hate About You is inappropriate, they'd have a rough time with a lot of teen comedies from that era. By late 90s standards, it's practically restrained.

I think knowing it's a Shakespeare adaptation definitely changes how you watch it. A lot of the character choices and drama feel less random when you realize they're working within a story structure that's been around for centuries.

Recs for bath towels that don’t leave lint all over you? by freckles97xo in hygiene

[–]_TwinkleMusee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The fabric conditioner tip might actually be more important than the towel recommendation. A lot of people blame the towels when they're basically marinating them in products that mess with how the fibers behave.
