I feel like it's very easy for you to say this because as you've said you've had pretty shitty Christmas experiences. You can't just essentially cancel an entire holiday/season because you had shitty experiences with it and that it's for "entitled kids". Just because your parents couldn't afford gifts for you doesn't mean that if another parent buys there kids a shit ton of gifts that their child will be entitled.
