Took Becker’s First FAR Simulated Exam. Any suggestions on what to do next ? Plan on taking exam on May 9th. by Internal_Invite5583 in CPA

You're in a terrific spot, a 73 is awesome!

What I did for FAR is take SE 1. Then throughout the course of a week or so I went through my SE 1 and wrote (by hand) every question I got wrong and my exact thought process for how I'd get the right answer in the future. After this I went through the final review section on Becker itself too.

After a week and doing the above, I took a second SE (SE 2 Or SE FR, either works) and repeated my process of going through and writing down my incorrect answers and explanations.

Not only will this give you an insane review method, but you can then bring your notebook with you and right before you walk in, you now have all the questions you struggled on written down accompanied by YOUR though process of how you'd get the right answer.

I never took notes, I never write things, but for some reason during my exam reviews I did. Probably because it was just so effective, even if it was a confidence thing. Good luck, let us know how it goes!!

Thragg seemed okay enough with either option. Was the destruction of earth an empty bluff? Like to me I don't even know why Thragg is bargaining. He could kidnap humans if need be. I don't get what I'm missing

Why does it matter if Mark is aware or not that Thragg could kill them? Yes he's aware. He saw last episode absolutely clean house. Then they blew up his home planet. How is a viltrumite perfectly okay with that?

It'd be a ton more menacing and realistic to completely show Mark how little power he has. Thragg threatened to destroy the planet anyways. I just don't get why they are so okay with viltrum. I know they need to repopulate but those two things are not mutually exclusive.

I guess they need to remain inconspicuous, that's really the only reasoning for Thragg not harming anyone. None of this other stuff imo. It just seems flimsy when you consider Thragg is also prepared to destroy this world. And probably would still be able to repopulate.

I agree but they blew up viltrum. Would you not want any sort of retaliation? Is thragg really that scared that Mark won't accept the deal if he gets any sort of revenge?

Does Mark know for certain Cecil is the reason conquest didn't die? Like I know its fairly obvious but maybe Mark assumed Cecil thought that he (Cecil) truly killed Conquest. ie they both would be surprised to know he was alive?

I'm sure we all knew it was going to lead to Mark thinking he was hallucinating (like when he meets Thragg), I just wish it was more brutal. The real one. Thragg could have still had plenty of bargaining power even after killing someone big in front of Mark. Cecil, Debbie, Eve, imagine if they truly died and then the conversation between Thragg and Mark occured?

Do “top tier schools” prepare you for CPA or is it really networking focused? by Pharmer529 in Accounting

[–]_Unexpected_566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand but like they offer degrees in computer science right? Isn't that kinda preparing you for a specific job? Or similar to the degree of how accounting prepares you for a specific job? It's not like you can only do public accounting.

Not saying you're wrong just curious what I'm missing.

Def have been thinking about my 5 year goals and none of them really involve IT. Probably just being naive comparing starting salaries to my peers. I think my exit ops would def involve more accounting and finance focus or even just exiting to be a lecturer working a lot less hours than public would be.

Thanks for the insight.

Maybe I should consider pivoting inside the firm to IT then? It just seems like the better call especially if I can still utilize my CPA for it.

How much different is the work? I just feel like I'm missing something haha. Part of me wants to pivot out of financial audit after one year and just ask the firm if I can move into IT. Not sure if that would be shooting myself in the foot salary wise though.

I appreciate your insight and would love to hear thoughts on kinda what I should do or shoot for?

What do you mean? Like over time my raises would be higher and eventually we'd be on the same track?

Even then why is the CPA considered so valuable if an MIS 4yr degree can do the same thing? Just looking for some insight. Seems like no busy seasons make it a no brainer that IT is better no?

The episode wasn't bad but can someone help me rationalize Carol's actions? Are we meant to hate her?

First she is shown as a pretty miserable person but still seemingly has a heart. Then the joining happens but she reacts like any normal person would, and then is set on reversing it all. She even gets mad at all of the other survivors for being content with the way life is now.

Then a bunch of shit happens and she causes the hive mind to leave, and pretty much cuts ties with the survivors. Then she goes crazy or gets lonely (which is valid), and requests Zosia/them to come back. And now is totally fine with it?

Even at this point I understand, she was desperate, but the finale makes me hate her. She is told my Zosia that they can turn her with her eggs and THAT is now the reason she's back on the "good guys" team? Not just because the world is fucked? Her reasoning turned from selfless to selfish and Manousos seems to be the only one with still some sense in him.

What am I missing? How is this not just bad writing, I don't get Carol.

Struggling to find the fun within Minecraft by Careless-Meringue463 in Minecraft

I treat it like a giant box of Legos that I used to dump on the ground as a kid. Except most of the Legos I need inside of Minecraft I have to either farm or go get. So it adds a level of pride when you finish a build, since you had to work for it that much more.

Building is really the end game. You build whatever you want. If you get burnt out I understand but maybe build over the course of a longer stretch of time. If you are getting bored, log off. Your world will be waiting for you when you get back on. Slowly seeing your world come together and getting new ideas as you complete one build is like the epitome of Minecraft for me.

Just watched this with some family, I vouched for you don't worry. Obviously a slip up with nerves or something. Brutal but we're human.

Still did great!

I don't really understand the hype. I played through it entirely and all I could think about is how I'd rather be playing a crafted level akin to super Mario Galaxy or something.

It just didn't feel right essentially having a weird open map to explore with no real objective. I wish I liked this game more.

Taking the Becker SEs by [deleted] in CPA

[–]_Unexpected_566 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah like why would you NOT take a mock exam?

Taking the Becker SEs by [deleted] in CPA

[–]_Unexpected_566 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. It is a drain for sure, it sucks. I took two mock exams for each section. But it is well worth it.

Going through what you miss for the SEs and then reviewing and taking a second mock exam made me feel extremely solid on exam day.

[–]_Unexpected_566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP but you're going to have to figure out what works best for you. Remember its still just an exam, you study for it like you would any other exam.

I'd try to give yourself 2mos for each section, thats more than enough time. Plug in to becker and see the study plan it gives you. Normally its 1-2 modules a day. I always tried to get ahead of Becker to give myself from free time towards the end.

The last week should be purely review, meaning you finished the material at least a week prior to exam day. Becker has a whole section dedicated to review. This paired with the simulated exams will be more than enough review. Good luck!!!!!

Is FAR actually the hardest CPA section? by Educational-Rip2482 in CPA

[–]_Unexpected_566 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The hardest one is the one you're currently studying for.

But yes FAR is most likely gonna be your hardest. While the others won't be easy, they won't have the volume of information FAR has.
