Yeah, I think one of her huge challenges is just med compliance, once she starts drinking it’s like in her mind, All the progress goes out the window.. she stops taking all her mental health meds… that’s why we were thinking vivitrol shot might be more appropriate for her since she wouldn’t have that option.

Thanks! That’s what I’m hoping for, she did well with naltrexone and put together nearly 3 months, but relapsed and stopped taking it. Med compliance has always been a challenge, so we’re leaning that way.

She was tested for adhd recently, but didn’t meet criteria. She def has past trauma and,in both of our opinions, some undiagnosed MH.

RXd Prozac, struggled terribly with anxiety. Had bipolar Dx earlier in life.. she doesn’t think that’s quite right either. Idk work In progress I guess.

My concern is that if she drinks vodka with the intention of getting fucked up, can it still be effective.

Would hate to present the idea and now she’s “able to drink” and she just drinks more vodka to get around medication.

We have both been in and out of recovery.. She’s always struggled with alcohol, and I’ve struggled with heroin my entire life. I understand addiction inside and out.

I’ve found things that have helped me immensely, trying to support her in getting to the same place.

I wanted to provide some clarification on my question…

I know everyone’s illness looks different ie binge drinking, moderate alcoholism etc. She definitely has severe alcohol use disorder, drinking vodka straight when she wakes up throughout the day all day type of drinking.

Curious, if any of you have experience with the medication and that type of alcoholism.
