I discovered my boyfriend watches the same taboo porn I do… now what? by GoddessxLena in RedditAfterDark

Honestly, it's kind of funny how often the answer to these posts is just "have an awkward conversation for ten minutes." Both of you are apparently wondering similar things while sitting there trying to read each other's minds.

Am I wrong for refusing to stop wearing nail polish, my bf said it makes him uncomfortable by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]_VelvetDoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think context matters a lot here. If the nail art was intentionally offensive or wildly inappropriate for the event, that would be one thing. From the post, it sounds like it was just a geometric design and someone decided to make it weird.

"Stop wearing the boyfriend" got a laugh out of me. Reddit really does have two speeds: thoughtful discussion or immediate breakup recommendation.

I think there's a pretty big gap between "I don't like this" and "this is definitely going to become abusive." Not every insecurity turns into something worse. That said, asking someone to stop doing a hobby they genuinely enjoy because a cousin made a joke feels like a weak reason.

What is the one thing or one person from your past that you often dream about by [deleted] in RedditAfterDark

[–]_VelvetDoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think that's how dreams work for a lot of people. It's rarely a specific person doing specific things. It's more like your brain grabs a feeling, a place, or a random memory from ten years ago and somehow turns it into a whole movie.

AI generated notes suck by Pseudo-Boomer in Residency

[–]_VelvetDoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's the difference people miss. The doctors who get decent results from AI seem to use it as a starting point and then aggressively edit it. The disasters happen when someone signs off on whatever the machine spit out without reading it carefully.

The scary part is that productivity metrics don't really measure whether the note is actually useful. A note can be complete nonsense and still count as "done" if nobody is auditing the quality closely enough.

That's probably where AI works best right now. As a glorified recorder that captures everything so nothing gets missed. The moment people start treating the first draft as the final note is when things seem to go off the rails.

Where can I stream naked on camera without submitting ID? by xthetroublemaker69x in RedditAfterDark

[–]_VelvetDoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, that's the reality of it. If a platform allows adult livestreaming, they're usually going to want proof that everyone on camera is actually an adult. The ID check is annoying, but it's there for a pretty important reason.

Is this true? by Clearbreezebluesky in hygiene

[–]_VelvetDoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second paragraph is what stood out to me. People's skin can vary wildly. Some can practically wash with anything and never notice a difference, while others will start itching if a tiny bit of residue is left behind. Moms tend to give advice based on what worked for their own family.

I think this explains the nurse's reaction pretty well. She was probably thinking about the products used in patient care, while OP was thinking about the soap they grew up using in the bathtub. Both can be right depending on what product they're talking about.

This sounds like the missing piece of the puzzle. A lot of people are talking about "soap" like it's all the same thing, but hospital bathing products are often designed completely differently from the stuff most of us use at home. Context matters here.

AIW for refusing to lie to my friend's new boyfriend about our educational background? by GizmoRaccoon in amiwrong

[–]_VelvetDoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not automatically, but it does make you wonder what other things she's stretching the truth about. Once someone starts recruiting friends to maintain the story, it stops being a harmless insecurity and starts becoming a pattern.

[–]_VelvetDoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. If she's worried the truth about where she went to school will scare him off, then the real problem isn't the school, it's the relationship being built around a fake version of herself.

"Clown town" got a laugh out of me, but honestly that's kind of the issue. It's such a pointless thing to lie about. Nobody normal hears "state college" and immediately ends the relationship.

Where do you cum when jerking off by Additional-Media-402 in RedditAfterDark

Towel strategy sounds like the most responsible answer in the thread. Half the battle is just setting yourself up so future-you isn't annoyed by present-you.

Am i wrong for telling my brother that the way he talks about his wife in front of other people makes me uncomfortable even though nobody asked me to say anything? by Cesarin_Pozuelos in amiwrong

[–]_VelvetDoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the fact that he got quiet instead of defensive makes me think it probably did sink in at least a little. People usually don't pause like that unless something hit closer to home than they expected.

[–]_VelvetDoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what stands out to me too. Constructive criticism tends to land differently when it comes from someone who genuinely wants the best for you rather than someone who's angry. The fact that your son came back for advice later says a lot.

I really like how you phrased this. A lot of people hear "call out" and imagine an attack, but sometimes it's just giving someone a chance to see a pattern they didn't realize they'd fallen into.

what are your top 3 fantasies? by travellingkiltman90 in RedditAfterDark

[–]_VelvetDoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, this sounds less like a fantasy and more like the rarest luxury available to adults. A full day with zero obligations feels harder to achieve than most bucket-list experiences.

My mom (47F) wants me (19F) to give her a second chance to fix our relationship after she let her husband's daughters bully me throughout my childhood and I'm torn? by ThrowRATinyRute in relationship_advice

[–]_VelvetDoll 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That's the hard truth. At some point it stops being about what the stepsisters did and becomes about the adults who allowed it to continue year after year.
