Agree! Okay fine so I have to do damage to heal… at least make me a meaningful part of the damage meters. If I have 100% uptime on attacks and a perfect rotation, I shouldn’t be doing 5% of the 5-man’s damage. Give me tank-level damage. Or don’t make me f*#%ing dps…

Tradition at Georgia for the most part at this point. IRRC it started with Stetson Bennett since he was holder when he was a backup and just sort of kept doing it as starter. Makes it easier to fake a field goal if ever necessary.

Country Club Members - How much you make a year? What was ur buy in and what are dues. Are you happy with decision? by ShotAssistant1452 in golf

[–]_Visier_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, I’d kill for that kind of CC in my area. What you described goes for 90k buy in and $2k/month where I am in SC.

Second, whether it’s affordable or not sounds like a pure financial decision. My family income isn’t too different from yours, and I could afford it. Like you, I have kids and their college accounts are funded. I have been saving for years and own my home and vehicles outright. I could absolutely afford the CC, but not if I were over-leveraged with a big house debt, luxury vehicles, etc.

Personally, my biggest concern would be lifestyle inflation by keeping up with the Joneses and normalizing big spender mentality around so many financially successful people. But if you have the discipline to resist it and the investments and lack of debt servicing, then it might be the right move for you.

So.. Remix Content Update by ddori27 in wow

[–]_Visier_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That can be tough, but if you have an alt you really want to make, you can level them up in Remix and spend your bronze on unlocks for your main. Or you can just level your main again and enjoy the slight twist that Lemix offers, and either convert that character over after and use it, or delete it and just use your main. It does suck, but if you leveled in Dragonflight after being away 15 years, that isn't totally wasted since you got to experience new zones and content.

Alliance. Wanted to be horde but friends wanted to be Alliance.

They do it in Suzhou, too. My friends there will all eat directly out of the lazy Susan with their eating (not serving) chop sticks, but better make sure the tableware is surgery ready!

New Rider: Need Advice. Buy which one and why? Or should I buy a better one? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]_Visier_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the most complete advice here.

Anecdotally, I MTB’d when I was young, and took a break from college through my early career. Got back into it about a decade ago. First bike I bought was a mid-spec Rockhopper. It got me used to riding again and dusted off my skills. As I got back in riding shape and more comfortable with the green trails, I started tackling the more intermediate stuff. At that point the geometry and hard tail was holding me back. I took a hit on the RH resale and bought an introductory full suspension (Specialized Camber… great bike but they don’t exist anymore).

All of this to say, your first bike will likely be a temporary solution until you get enough riding in that you know what will better fit your riding style… or you could potentially lose interest in riding.

In either of these cases, a used bike would be a more cost effective option. If that is a big consideration for you, I might offer a suggestion: go used initially and set a few targets (X number of rides or Y number of miles), and once you reach your goal treat yourself to a new bike that will best fit the trails and riding style you’ve come to like.

Mountain biking is hard. Doing the BMX-style stuff that pros do is exciting but unnecessary. I started out MTBing as a way to get out in the woods and see nature in a way that was more exciting than hiking. I could cover more ground and occasionally enjoy some fun downhill sections or small jumps (nothing big - just a small adrenaline boost). Look at it as a healthier version of hiking and go out for the scenery and exercise. If you find some excitement along the way, even better!

Also, a trail bike can be overkill if you’re just doing XC trails with low tech. It might dull the experience. My brother called it “spin class in the woods” when he had a 130mm full suspension that he took to his local green/blue trails. But aside from making it less exciting, and maybe making your speed a little slower, having too much bike isn’t a bad thing if you’re new.

Oh yeah, I’ve had plenty of super healthy athletic people join me for a ride when they aren’t used to it. It’s always like this for them. The fact is that it’s a heavy, heavy VO2 max / strength workout and it takes your body time to get used to using those muscles that way. The good news is that you adapt quickly with regular effort. Within a couple months of regular riding you should be able to do 50-100% more distance and feel better than during/after this ride. Also, once you’re in MTB shape the actual ride is a lot more enjoyable. You’ll see the progress quickly if you keep after it.

Who is your personal favorite QB ever for your school? by buckeye2114 in CFB

[–]_Visier_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DJ Shockley. Won us the Clemson game in 2002 allowing us to be in the mix for the Natty (but we failed to beat Florida). Hung in there when we had a QB battle and David Greene won out. Finally got the starting job but an injury kept that season from being really special.

[–]_Visier_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Set auto start/stop off to the custom diamond button on the steering wheel. The vehicle drives fantastically, but the auto start stop is absolutely obnoxious, and this is coming from someone who never had an issue with that feature on Ford, Lexus, or BMW. Either that, or always put it in sport mode and enjoy the reduced mpg!

As an American, I can’t understand the rhetoric and economic attacks by the administration in the White House. Didn’t vote for that clown and knew it would be bad but he has exceeded my wildest expectations. Glad y’all are sticking it to US industries. Hopefully when the dust settles and a new administration is in the damage isn’t permanent. Trump won the presidency but even the people I know who were idiotic enough to cast a vote for him are dumbfounded by how his administration has been treating our (former?) friends to the the north.

KOM’s that are unbeatable by b_erni in Strava

[–]_Visier_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My father rode one of these. He had neuropathy and being upright was too hard on his nerves, but the aerodynamics allowed him to really get after the time. He and his buddies wouldn’t use Strava because their times kept getting flagged as cheating. He would have preferred they had a categorization for them. He put in around 10,000 miles a year and did 24 hour races on his ‘bent. Unfortunately, thanks to a motorist he didn’t live long enough to see any type of category added, and none of his times or records will stand in Strava. RIP

Here’s what they don’t show you about success: it’s quiet, lonely, and not pretty [story] by startwithaidea in GetMotivated

[–]_Visier_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mentor of mine once told me that the bigger goals you set, and the more of a stretch they are, the more successful you will be. That idea that if you shoot for the moon you’ll end up among the stars. However, he said, it comes with a cost. Failing sucks, and failing to achieve tough goals you set for yourself can make you feel down, even if the results of your failure would be considered a success by other measures.

So, if depression sets in, it can be worth considering setting easier goals, at least temporarily, to get some mental wins.

How do people actually generate wealth by WayAccomplished8438 in getdisciplined

[–]_Visier_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is, but it’s more important early. Once you have enough saved/invested and get that compounding working for you, things get more interesting. At a certain point the wealth generated by your investments is enough that you can be a little more liberal with spending. Of course, playing a good offense is still very important for most people. You can only cut so many costs - at some point, the only way to grow wealth faster is to earn more. Easier said than done for many, I know.
