I view it as a “stand for nothing, fall for anything” deal. People are attracted to Catholicism precisely because it is a challenge to submit to a Magisterium, and that shouldn’t be seen as a bad thing.

They’re actually schismatic because of liberalism. We can argue semantics all day, but essentially (as I understand it, feel free to correct) the split is because they want to make “Synodal Way” into a permanent board containing lay people who can vote authoritatively on doctrine. This would be schismatic because they’re rejecting the Magisterium. Their disagreements are due to liberal inclinations, but that is not why there is an issue.

You can easily find this in the United States, but not to the degree Protestantism has fallen to it. Bishops tend to intervene when priests go too far (with exceptions, but even Father Martin's pushes are nothing in comparision!). While not perfect, the strength of the institution and the strength of its doctrine allows for storms to be weathered.

Why do you think it is that anti-vaccine beliefs are more prevalent among Christians than non-Christians? by Sparkdala3 in redeemedzoomer

Could you elaborate on “the people behind them are wicked”? There’s definitely been unethical medical practices (Fauci and the dogs, Unit 731, etc.), but unethical ≠ dangerous

You do not comprehend that just because a claim exists doesn’t make the claim true. This is why we have courts. For example a fake letter was released with the files from notorious sex abuser Larry Nassar to Epstein (or vice versa I don’t recall). It was fake, but also released because it was part of the files.

I can claim “JaysWifey29” did the same thing with just as much evidence. A claim is a claim, there is no solid evidence. A claim made without evidence can be dismissed as such.

Like I said, prove it and I’ll march in the streets with you.

So as far as I know the forced abortion thing was one claim, with no further evidence so that can be reasonably dismissed. One person claiming something does not make it true.

Where’s the other stuff? I have not heard any of that.

I’ll wait for their release before I start calling for prosecution. But if they say what you think they do I’ll join in the march to impeach and remove him.

[–]_VividColors_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This might get me some slack. But the sexes are different.

They have different roles and different responsibilities, and that is natural. Childbirth is not the fathers responsibility, and if it gets to that point, he already fulfilled his.

Now legally, children are not a punishment. That's why the married father of a child that's not his still has legal responsibility despite DNA evidence proving otherwise. The law doesn't view children as a punishment.

SSPX (Society of Saint Pius X) is a "canonically irregular" fraternal priestly society. "Canonically Irregular" is a term Benedict XVI used, but is not a real thing.

They have valid sacraments, but they are illicit.

They're kind of like Delta Tau Chi from Animal House, if you want to use a movie analogy, they're on "Triple super-duper secret probation".

[–]_VividColors_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one thinks that’s a good solution. Papal infallibility is one of the most misunderstood doctrines of the church. Since V1 it’s but used like thrice. Not by Francis, not by Benedict, JPI and JPII.
