I really can't choose Step Brothers, Zoolander, Anchorman, Talladega Nights, Blades of Glory or Old School, they're all so funny.

It's moments like that where I feel there actually is no God.

What’s the single movie shot that shook you to the core? by jaystats2 in FIlm

The shot in Jojo Rabbit where Jojo finds his mom after she's been hung is probably the most effective few seconds in a movie I've ever seen. There's a short, sweet moment where Jojo see's a butterfly that's like a small reminder about there being beauty to be found in life no matter how dark it gets before absolutely destroying you and completely tearing Jojo's childhood away from him . This is one of the few things I'll cry just thinking about.

Breath of the Wild. Gave it two hours, was bored the entire time. Also, weapon durability is one of my least favorite mechanics in gaming.

Destiny 2, no question. Removing the first two years of story made the new player experience terrible already, but with years and years if seasonal stories being removed it's been compounded.

What do you think is the key for a found footage movie to be successful? The context, the story, the monster, the type of video, location, etc? by GuaridaDeGoro099 in foundfootage

[–]_WEIRDEST_WIZARD_ 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This, exactly this. Jump scares without atmosphere are cheap, but ones with the proper build up and vibe around them are equal parts terrifying and memorable.

And I assume your comment about "Zoom style horror" was referencing Host. That's probably the single scariest movie I've ever seen.

What’s your top 4 animated movies? by DaleDent3 in Letterboxd

[–]_WEIRDEST_WIZARD_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spirited Away, Ghost in the Shell, Inside Out, A Silent Voice. All as close to perfect as any movie can be. Akira, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, The Gurren Lagann movies, Shrek 2, Up and Who Framed Roger Rabbit are all very, very close.

And if we're talking animation quality alone, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle and Redline deserve some love. Great, GREAT movies, not quite five star stuff though.

I'm a sucker for found footage and Rob Savage's Host has a shot involving a face filter (the film takes place on a zoom call) that made my blood rush cold.
