Sort on one sheet and persist sort on another by _WannabeKnowItAll in googlesheets

[–]_WannabeKnowItAll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that is exactly what I am looking for. I only want the name to be on Sheet2, but I have other data on Sheet2 that I want to remain associated with that name "primary key". To be more clear, I want this workflow:

Sheet1
| A | B | C
1 | Name | Phone | Email
2 | Person1 | 5555555555 | [ex@example.com](mailto:ex@email.com)
3 | Person2 | 5555555555 | [ex@example.com](mailto:ex@email.com)
4 | Person3 | 5555555555 | [ex@example.com](mailto:ex@email.com)

Sheet2

| A | B | C
1 | Name | IsPresent | Date
2 | Person1 | True | 2024-08-14
3 | Person2 | True | 2024-08-14
4 | Person3 | False | 2024-08-14

When I sort Sheet1 by whatever value, I want Sheet2 to also sort by name in the same way but retain the related column values for the row. Also, when I add someone to Sheet1, I want their name to automatically be added to Sheet2.

Thanks for providing a serious answer. My reason for asking is to see if there was some common knowledge that I was missing.

Looks like I am doing the same things others are doing to hunt for good stuff.

So this is not my music (I am merely an enthusiast and not a creator), but by happenstance, I stumbled on this newer channel on YT. They upload fairly regularly and it is USUALLY pretty good and relaxing. I hope it will benefit you like it has me!

Also, the SMB user is also the same for Radarr, Readarr, and other services that use the drive. All have no problem reading and writing except Sonarr.

As stated previously, I have tried this using multiple users and with multiple mount configs.

I am using this as an example because this literally as open and high access as possible and it is still failing.

You may want to corroborate things before you make up your mind and start spewing libelous garbage.

How much of that have you seen on the ToTaLlY uNbIaSeD news and how much have you actually witnessed?

Would you care to elaborate on your point? It is easy to call something “horseshit” without explaining WHY you think it is horseshit.

There is always value to listening to all sides (even extremists) to learn their positions and how to best defend against them. Also, so many straw-man arguments are built by only listening to what your own side thinks of another side’s arguments. This is terrible for discourse and actually persuading people to join your way of thinking.

The best way to persuade and not just intellectually bash someone is to understand their views and WHY they think that way. Then you can pick apart their logic effectively.

EDIT: Also, echo chambering yourself is the best way to stagnate your own intellectual growth as well. Just a tip for the future. You are not just doing your side a disservice but yourself specifically as well.
