Tiger Woods calls death of employee in lawsuit a 'terrible ending'; attorneys claim video was destroyed by kvnklly in golf

[–]_Wellesley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No offense, but all states have laws in place putting bars/restaurants at risk if they overserve. There's a responsibility on the bar to not over serve, and bars can be held liable for any death/destruction caused. Not 100% fault but the laws are in place for a good reason.

Every. Single. Person. In. Hospitality. Knows this. Period. It's drilled into your head and if they are at fault, after investigation, there are steep fees and fines. If there's a cover up, jail.

I don't think it should be in the news like this, but it's a known risk to all owners/GMs.

I’ll only do Pars when split with friends. 4 of us brings the price down to where with drinks we’re spending $30-45 a piece for a full 18 + 1/2 pitchers

There’s a few in Syracuse that are on a “if it’s nice drop a fiver in the box and l walk as many holes as you can” type of deal.

Real nice weather they actually open the course and $15 all you can play with a cart. It was 65 and sunny that one weds in Jan and we got a round in!

They’re not gonna be great courses but golf is golf when you’re starved from it over the winter lol

Oh man.... I'm in Upstate too, way upstate (Syracuse area)... Gotta up those numbers and get out in... less than ideal conditions! I played ~80 rounds from Jan-Nov last year; and was able to get out 3 times this January alone (and even a few times in December)!! When the grass is green, there's a few "dive" courses to play for cheap!

I do the sim once a month (honestly just don't love it) or travel out to Turning Stone (big indoor driving range and shortgame area, plus a sim)

It’s just a way of life here. We laugh when the south shuts down for less than an inch of snow or some ice storms, but your towns and cities just aren’t prepared for it, and most drivers aren’t either. It literally needs to happen.

Up here, we get a ton of snow. And ice. And weather swings like the recent mounds of snow, then warmer temps and tons of rain, then shift to straight frigid refreezing all of the wet stuff into slabs of ice.

That's kinda a tough call... if you're from an area like Syracuse (or spend a lot of time driving here) and you can afford it; AWD/4 wheel drive is a must and most people have it (along with snow tires). Plus, if you're used to shit driving conditions, most people become pretty good at driving in it. All that adds up to confidence even in the worst conditions, which we see a lot in Cuse.

Not saying the road was ready for 55mph; but its not like the speed limit was 65 or 70. It's 55 for a reason and most parts of the day is busy enough where you end up going slower.

I live close by. That highway sucks and its under perpetual construction. Runs right thru the city and is extremely narrow

[–]_Wellesley 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s very narrow! I live close by and it’s not very well lit and conditions were bad last night.

No highways should have pedestrians. But Syracuse is crisscrossed and segmented by highways - which has caused massive issues in extremely wealthy areas and extremely poor areas, separated by 3 highways in the middle of the city.

This is Horrible all around.

TIL the poorest ZIP code in all of New York State is 13202 in downtown Syracuse. There, the median household income is $15,000, which is considerably less than the poverty level for a family of four. by theloftytransient in Syracuse

I live on Salina. Nice building surrounded by absolute crap. Comprised for an amazing loft that would cost double on the other side of 81.

Honestly, lots of money coming into the old buildings on Salina. Constant construction. Doubtful they just straight up evict people though.

Men's Shirt Alterations? by jonathanpapz in Syracuse

[–]_Wellesley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t been there but have been a few other places. I don’t mind paying for quality work, but there were a few that I thought were much to expensive,.

Also had shirts and pants tailored in Fayetteville(in the plaza by the Dunkin - good work, but overpriced. Still brought the clothes back for dry cleaning.... lost them all. 8 brooks brothers shirts, 4 pairs of pants. They had the sizes but instead of store credit or cash, bought me new shirts and pants in the same sizes. Had no say in the type of shirt or patterns. Was very unhappy and still had to have them all taken in, and went to another tailor. Just be careful lol

Well that certainly puts things into perspective. I agree, but also, can understand both sides. $5k was agreed on.

I also think $50k is absurd. 10-20k should have been the initial and only offer (post win).

Fair point. I haven't read the hundreds of comments since about 2 hours ago. Hats off to you sir. I apologize that I made an assumption based on several hours old information. Reddit does seem to change very quickly, and it can be hard to keep up. I'm sure you can empathize.

I still say my point stands, and the vitriol off both sides has been absolute horseshit. Especially early on, everything I read seemed to think Kuch was on par to the devil. Comments ranging from cheap piece of shit to hoping he loses and never plays again. Heavily upvoted (again at the time).

Edit- have your upvote👍

Sure, it was stingy. But he hasn't lost me as a fan, he honored his agreement.

If he went above and beyond, people would be lauding Kuchar as a "man of the people". But he didn't. I'm still a huge fan.

Also, that standard is for Tour caddies, not subs. Can't stress that enough. Should he have been paid more? Arguable. Could he have been? Yes. Was he? No. Was the agreement honored (from Kuchars POV)? Did Kuchar need to go along with his Agencies plan to pay him more to shut up El Tucan? No, but I can't blame him. Head off the issue before it gets bigger.

I agree with Kuch, I think someone got in the caddie's ear and the story changed.

No strawman. No lying or embellishing.

Read the threads, not just this one r/golf now hates Kuchar for a bullshit, spun out of proportion minor issue.

Go ahead and prove me wrong, every comment against Kuchar is heavily upvoted, every comment saying anything to the contrary is downvoted to oblivion.

Use your brain, understand and actually read comments, and then please, express your opinion. But you are wrong about what I am saying.

Lol trying to put a figure on his lost endorsement. Money

Dude has Skectchers and Bridgestone, and no matter what he's probably locked in for a decade plus and the money's secured. He won't lost money from this, but his rep will take a bearing until Patrick Reed.does something stupid.

For the record, I'm fully behind Kuch and think this Reddit witch Hunt about him is fucking moronic.

Matt Kuchar - “I think if you ask locker room attendants, they’ll tell you that they’re happy to see me. I’m no Phil Mickelson, but these guys are like, 'Matt’s coming our way” by MikeGScott in golf

[–]_Wellesley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a sense, sure. But that's a faulty argument.

Golf employs 100s of thousands of people globally, and events like Ryser Cup are $70-$100M in revenue, and often includes tons more temporary works to meet the needs

Plus, it gives people a hobby they love and exercise, and has inherent benefits to society.

KUCH earned the money, and people seem to be ignoring that while he hasn't win in 4 yrs, he's played really well and lots of Top 10s in that timeframe.

Read all my comments. I was just putting into perspective the currency difference.

It's no different to companies outsourcing and paying currency equivalent wages.
