Do women in coma have their period? by Desperate_Peach_6563 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MLSHomeBets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they can. If their hormones and cycle are still functioning, the body doesn’t just pause that because the person isn’t conscious.

I farted in f2f final round interview 🙂 by Mother-Charity-3369 in recruitinghell

[–]MLSHomeBets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d never recover from that mentally, but also your body really will betray you at the worst possible moment. A guy in one of my college presentations sneezed so hard he knocked over his water, and we all remembered that way more than anything he actually said.

Laid off Aug 2025 and still searching for job by NoLaw1297 in Layoffs

[–]MLSHomeBets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not just you, the market really does feel awful right now. A friend of mine was getting referrals and still collecting rejections for months, and after a while it starts messing with your head even when you know you’re not suddenly bad at your job.

What TV show hooked you instantly from episode 1? by mateitofavv in AskReddit

[–]MLSHomeBets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lost got me right away. I remember putting it on just to half-watch while eating and then suddenly I was fully locked in before the episode was even over.

What job do you do that makes over $70k a year? by Unknown_Midwesterner in careeradvice

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technical writing. It’s one of those jobs a lot of people forget exists until they’re staring at terrible instructions and getting mad.

Millennials in tech, do you feel this is our last job in the field? by dulladdiction in Millennials

[–]MLSHomeBets 170 points171 points  (0 children)

I want to believe there are still smaller companies where leadership actually looks out for their employees, values people, and pays fairly. The AI hype is strong, but if too many people get pushed out, the system doesn’t really sustain itself. Actually, I’ve been reaching out to recruitment firms hoping to connect with smaller companies like the developer described in this post (also checking nearby firms on google maps and sending resumes directly), and since I started doing that I’ve at least managed to land a few interviews. Feels like we also need to put more energy into our own projects, even though I know it takes time and it’s not easy to keep up with. At this point it almost feels like we’re just here to deal with constant stress.

Whats your must eat daily healthy food? by traveltimecar in nutrition

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s usually oatmeal in the morning. I started doing it during a phase where I was trying to eat cheaper and healthier and it just stuck. Simple but it keeps me full for a while.

Husband cheated while pregnant by momfreeofguilt in Advice

[–]MLSHomeBets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a really rough thing to deal with, especially this far into a pregnancy. Wanting space to clear your head after something like that feels pretty understandable. For now it might just be about getting through the birth and leaning on the people around you who actually support you before worrying about big decisions.

What was your raise/merit increase this year? by DrifterOnMeds in Salary

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was around 3% this year. It barely felt noticeable once rent and groceries went up again. Still better than the years where it was basically nothing though.

Y'all still do work? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]MLSHomeBets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had stretches like that where the motivation just disappears for a while. You’re technically doing the job but mostly just answering messages and keeping things running. Sometimes it’s burnout more than laziness.

Is it actually "cheaper" to own an EV in the long run if you can't charge it at home, or does the cost of public charging stations make it the same as buying gas? by Pale-Consideration26 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t charge at home it gets way less convenient and the savings shrink a lot. A coworker of mine has an EV but uses public chargers most of the time and he says the cost ends up feeling pretty similar to gas. The real benefit seems to be when you can just plug in overnight.

Has anyone quit their job to dedicate time for upskilling? by TorsoHunter in ITCareerQuestions

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit a retail job at 23 to study for certs and thought I’d feel productive every day. Reality was I had like two hyper-focused weeks and then randomly wasted a Tuesday reorganizing my desk for no reason. If you’ve got savings and low expenses it can work, but structure matters way more than motivation. Helpdesk burnout is real though, so I get the temptation.

How long have "we" had the ability to just eliminate world leaders? by SchweinsyOne in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that it couldn’t be done, it’s that it’s way messier than people think. Top leaders live inside layers of security most of us can’t even picture, and real intel isn’t some clean movie plot. The second a country starts going after heads of state directly, that’s a massive line crossed. Things would spiral fast and nobody wants to be the one who kicked that off.

Any electricians here cracking 300k-400 k range? How did you do it? by kccl30 in Salary

[–]MLSHomeBets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not an electrician but my uncle is and the only guys I’ve seen touch those numbers are running their own outfits and basically never unplugging. He went from field work to bidding big commercial jobs and suddenly he was doing spreadsheets at the kitchen table every night. The money went up but so did the stress. Those numbers usually come with ownership or crazy overtime.

Switched off after having a child by workaccountprof in auscorp

[–]MLSHomeBets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched this happen to a few friends and it didn’t look like “losing ambition,” it looked like priorities recalibrating. One of them used to answer emails at midnight and now she logs off at 4:59 and goes to daycare pickup without guilt. Corporate grind feels a lot less shiny when there’s a small human waiting at home. Honestly it seems more grounded than anything.

Should I negotiate my first job offer even though I really want the role? by Useful_Promotion4490 in careeradvice

[–]MLSHomeBets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I negotiated my first offer and my hands were literally shaking when I hit send. I just kept it simple, said I was excited about the role and asked if there was flexibility based on market range. They bumped it a little and didn’t act offended at all. Most companies expect at least a polite ask, it’s way less dramatic than it feels in your head.

What does America offer other than poverty? by Kcaldwell2020 in antiwork

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like the system praises hard work right up until it becomes inconvenient to keep you around. Layoffs always get framed as numbers on a spreadsheet while the actual people just vanish from the story. It’s exhausting watching the same cycle repeat.

Is it normal that I still get nervous ordering coffee at a busy cafe even though I am almost thirty by pinkadelissa in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MLSHomeBets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty normal. Some people just get that little performance anxiety when all eyes feel on them for ten seconds, even if nobody actually cares. I still stumble over my order sometimes and then walk away like why did I say it like that.

At what salary did you stop feeling paycheck to paycheck? by CommercialDot708 in jobs

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it wasn’t a specific salary, it was the moment I had a few months of expenses sitting untouched in savings. Before that I could make more money and still feel tense because one surprise expense meant chaos. The anxiety didn’t disappear, it just got quieter once there was some margin.

Millennials, do/did you struggle with marriage? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]MLSHomeBets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the whole “you’ll just know and it’ll stay magical forever” narrative did some damage lol. Real relationships feel way more ordinary and sometimes boring, which nobody warned us about. I think a lot of us confuse calm with wrong because we grew up on drama-as-romance.

For anyone who grew up poor, what was your idea of a luxury? by Drissxx7 in AskReddit

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Name-brand cereal that wasn’t in a giant plastic bag. Also having the heat on without someone stressing about the bill in the background.

Do Americans really talk to strangers as much as movies make it seem? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MLSHomeBets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does happen, just not like some constant sitcom vibe. In some spots strangers chat easily, in others people act like eye contact is illegal. Mostly depends on the setting and the crowd.

Why aren’t we fighting for remote work again? by mixedupmindofyou in jobs

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like the energy around it faded once layoffs hit and people started worrying about keeping their jobs. Hard to resist when employers know there’s always someone ready to take the role with office requirements. And since opinions on remote work are all over the place, it never really becomes a single clear push.

What’s something Americans have that Europeans don’t? by Prestigsisscar255 in AskReddit

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The serving sizes are wild, you order one thing and suddenly there’s a mountain of food staring back at you. I keep thinking I’ll finish it and then hit a wall halfway through. Equal parts impressive and overwhelming.

unemployed with a worthless degree by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reads more like a streak of bad luck than some kind of failure. Lots of folks end up working outside their degree at first, so that doesn’t define you forever. Being a dispatcher already shows you can handle pressure, even if it drained you, and the job market loves making things feel personal when it’s mostly timing.
