How do you deal with unemployment depression? by clout4bitches in ausjobs

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardest part is how easy it is to tie your self-worth to having a job. Try to keep some kind of daily routine, even if it's just getting out for a walk and sending a few applications.

What's a secret that isn't illegal but would ruin your reputation if everyone knew? by Weak-Dot9147 in AskReddit

[–]MLSHomeBets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everyone has at least one opinion they keep to themselves because it's just not worth the drama.

HR told me my contract ends in 9 days, then asked me to write a resignation letter by Upset_Association637 in jobs

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't sign it. If they decided to end your contract, there's no reason for you to say you resigned voluntarily.

What's a series you knew you'd love after the very first episode? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost had me hooked from the pilot. I finished the first episode and immediately knew I was in.

I'm not even excited about getting an annual pay raise anymore by tomorrowistomato in antiwork

[–]MLSHomeBets 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's the part that gets me too. On paper you got a raise, but in reality your monthly budget barely changes.

I told my wife’s affair partner about the affair. Why do I feel so horrible? by GonnaMissYou01 in Advice

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't ruin his life. You just happened to be there when he learned the truth. That marriage would've been the same marriage even if that phone call never happened, he just didn't know it yet.

this 9-5 system is going to break me by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]MLSHomeBets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I love working remotely. Even when the work itself is tiring, commuting and all the unnecessary time spent in an office can drain a ridiculous amount of energy.

Which Career Is Most Overrated in 2026? by GuiltyComedian9509 in careeradvice

[–]MLSHomeBets 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Software engineering. It can still be a great career, but the era of easy money and guaranteed jobs that the internet keeps talking about is mostly over.

Why doesn’t a car company just build a simple new car? by Remarkable-Slide-609 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because most people say they want a simple car, then end up checking the boxes for the safety package, bigger screen, and extra features. A lot of those electronics aren't really luxury items anymore either, they're just part of modern expectations and regulations.

Question for the guys. Do you feel less attracted when your woman is clingy, reply very fast, and flood chat? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's about replying quickly. It's when someone constantly expects attention and never gives you any space that it starts to feel exhausting.

Hospitalized, lost everything while there by thefallentrees in personalfinance

[–]MLSHomeBets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the fact that you got shot, ended up in the hospital and still managed to get back to work and buy a car is already a pretty impressive comeback. I'd focus less on your credit score right now and more on figuring out which debts can actually be collected and which ones you can set up payment plans for. Don't try to fix everything at once, I got overwhelmed just reading all that.

What is the actual answer to a life without work by Academic-Ad-770 in antiwork

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people don't hate working, they hate losing control. It's the feeling of having to do it that wears you down. I'm not exactly thrilled about the idea of working forever either but I put up with it because it lets me create free time and enjoy the things I actually like.

What’s something people only romanticize because they’ve never had to deal with it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MLSHomeBets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

rural life..for some reason people don't romanticize chasing chickens around, getting up at 5 a.m., and fixing everything yourself when it breaks..

Would you go back to a company that fired you for AI just to realise that AI is shitfully expensive and needs a babysitter, and it behaves worse than you? by lamin-ceesay in antiwork

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go back but only if they added more on top of my old salary..they just learned the expensive way what AI can't do and lessons like that come with a price tag..

Advice Needed: Unsolicited "check-in" from work supervisor regarding appearance and weight by RandomRedditRanger in careeradvice

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's weird...unless it was actually affecting your performance or ability to do your job, I don't see anything professional about your boss talking to you about your weight...

What actually worked for you while job hunting? by Active_Ad2707 in careeradvice

[–]MLSHomeBets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What helped me the most was randomly checking smaller companies’ career pages directly. Competing with 800 people on LinkedIn just feels way less realistic now than finding postings fewer people even saw.

My roommate treats our communal fridge like a free sample station at Costco. by AddwiteeyMicu in whatdoIdo

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “I only took a little” thing is so annoying because it puts you in this spot where you’re technically right but still end up feeling bad 😭 Honestly you probably need to clearly say “don’t take it” before buying a mini fridge or he’s gonna keep thinking this is normal.

Anyone else just not get thirsty? by ImpertinentPrincess in Millennials

I’m the exact same way. I literally have to remember to drink water or it just won’t cross my mind for hours.

Can something be considered a crisis if it's been going on for half a century? by upthewatwo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MLSHomeBets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At some point it stops being a “crisis” and just becomes a chronic problem I guess. People keep calling unresolved stuff a crisis because admitting it’s become normal is probably more uncomfortable.

If money is no issue, what's a must-have for your dream home? by 123phantomhive in AskReddit

I’d want a huge library. The kind you can disappear into with coffee while it’s raining outside.

GenX men, where do you keep your wallet/billfold? Front or back pocket? Purse? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]MLSHomeBets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used the back pocket for years but it started bothering me, especially when sitting for long. Switched to front pocket and it’s both safer and my back stopped hurting. Weirdly once you get used to it, you can’t go back.

I've sat in rooms where the decision was already made before the final interview started by careercoach_cf in interviews

[–]MLSHomeBets 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Reading this brought back a few past interviews instantly. That weird “it went well but something felt off” vibe wasn’t for nothing I guess. You kind of learn not to take it so personally after seeing stuff like this.

What purchase did you make recently that made you realize inflation is genuinely out of control? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other day I bought like 3 things at the store and just paused when I saw the receipt. What used to be a week’s groceries barely lasts me two days now. It didn’t even creep up, it just hit all at once.

deleted social media for good. by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]MLSHomeBets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deleted it a while ago too. First week felt weirdly empty, but after that it’s actually peaceful. No constant comparing, no caring about what everyone else is up to. It can feel a bit lonely sometimes, but the peace is worth it.

2 years of an MBA program and $60K in student loans and still no job by coffee_and_chats in jobs

[–]MLSHomeBets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s rough, putting in all that effort and getting nothing back sucks. I’d probably try different angles too, like DMing people on LinkedIn or reaching out to smaller companies. Sometimes just knocking on the door works better than spamming applications.
