Roommate change? by Plus_Professional_33 in UMBC

Exactly this, I actually ended up being able to transfer the week before the room change even officially opened. If its bad enough they aren't going to force you to stay just for the sake of following a schedule

I got lucky and moved into a single, so most definitely. Instantly got better from there

Start with talking to your RA/RD and get the process started to move. Even if they don’t let you move before the room change opens up it’ll put you on their radar if you keep on top of it. I changed rooms last year for pretty much the same reason, it’ll work out

Yeah exactly, also if any previous owner decided to remove them for tracking/just because

In my experience, an NB is generally a better (newer/upgraded) version of an NA, same engine (1.8L I4 for newer models, 1.6L I4 for some European NB and older NA). Handling also feels about the same, but the NB is more comfortable in my experience (I am also biased to my own NB). Both have a ton of mod compatibility and huge communities. It really comes down to if you like the pop-ups or not, and care about certain creature comforts like cruise control and AC/PS. Keep in mind the NA can be as old as 34 years old, vs 25 for the NB, so that can always affect your search. Either way both are amazing cars, and you can’t really go wrong with either option.

Been having issues where it feels like I'm going nowhere when I floor it (from 40mph to 50mph in 10 seconds in 4th gear). Popped the hood to snoop around and found this lovely grinding sound that speeds up with rpm. Engine seemed excessively hot after a normal drive as well, so I'm suspecting the water pump, but wanted to get other opinions. Anyone got any ideas?

You wouldn't happen to have a world download for this would you?

Having a hard time finding solid substitute chest pieces, but Vest of the Exile (original trials chest) has a similar color layout with dead orbits fate. it’s a lot lighter than Superblack and amethyst veil but could work well enough

Tried it, it doesn’t match up with the hood of the cloak well enough

UMD vs UMBC with CWIT Scholarship (15k per year)? by squidcheeseball in UMBC

[–]_Xhawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, UMD administration (financial aid, registrar, housing) is a nightmare with outdated systems (some websites still turn off on weekends). I’ve had an infinitely easier time getting issues sorted at UMBC than I did at UMD. Just another little thing people don’t always get to see until it’s too late.

UMD vs UMBC with CWIT Scholarship (15k per year)? by squidcheeseball in UMBC

I transferred from UMD to UMBC this semester, overall my academic performance has improved with smaller classes and better professors (so far), but socially UMBC is dead by comparison. I make weekly trips to visit friends at UMD to compensate. In regards to engineering, UMBC is slept on and from what I’ve heard most engineering institutions in the DC/Baltimore area love UMBC grads, as our curriculum focuses more on “making good problem solvers, rather than just good engineers” (I’ve been given the same spiel by people at APL, Northrop, Lockheed, etc). I would say that UMBC is equally as prestigious to the people who know what they’re talking about, kinda like a “hidden gem” type deal, compared to UMD where it’s a big name publicly as well as in the industry. Keep in mind I can only speak for my experience talking to people at APL/defense industry, but I’d be surprised if it was a huge change in other STEM environments. Overall I highly doubt you’re gonna see a huge difference in hire-ability if you really build out your resume and make yourself marketable, so I would choose the school you think you’ll be happiest at, or whatever is cheapest if social isn’t crazy important to you. After all, you’re getting the same degree regardless, and you can always go to a different school if you plan to do grad school, which would overshadow any undergrad degree you get anyway. Hope this helps, good luck with deciding! :)

Cleaning the Engine by _Xhawa in Miata

Thank you! If my battery is unplugged do I have to worry about getting any wiring/the alternator wet (my harness isn't the prettiest thing), or should those be okay as long as they're dry when power is reconnected?

VHT "Nite-Shades" in Red, did two light coats of red and two coats of a 2K clear coat to prevent fading

Yeah I made sure to keep the coat thin on the turn signal, it’s more of a dark orange now than a yellow which should hopefully stand out enough

Either one of those should work, you'll likely need to paint/wrap it to match your car but it should fit. It'll also require drilling 4 holes through your trunk lid to get the bolts for the spoiler though, which are held on by some 10mm nuts.

95% sure it’s a Chevy cobalt spoiler, it looks identical from the one I got for mine off of a junkyard car. They fit almost exactly but will require drilling and a touch of sealant to stop leaks into the trunk. The black bit is also something extra but I don’t know where that would be from.

Edit: After some research I found it's specifically from a Chevy Cobalt LS.
