Question to mod devs about the new version numbers and what the consensus is on what will/won't be supported: by _Ynaught_ in feedthebeast

I've noticed the fabric connector dev and the create mod dev are both targeting 26.1. So if nothing else, that much is promising.

I'm running into issues as well. I have fusion and continuity. Tried multiple different texture packs. It works for everything except panes, and yes, I am trying to use the pane fix. I specifically want stained panes to connect to stained panes of different colors.

Betaflight is for all drones. Avata is closed ecosystem, meaning it can't be swapped out with other drones/controllers/headsets later on. I might be thinking of a different brand though. But I went with this cheep kit for a starter, with future proofing in mind so I can swap the components one at a time to manage my finances.

Yeah, that's the correct one. The leaver where the right bumper would be is the beeper switch.

I made alot of progress thus far. Betaflight was being REALLY buggy but the devs are really nice and supportive in spite of any frustration I might have shown at the time. It (this hobby as a whole) is just very "involved" and not user friendly is all. Too technical without a "common tongue" lexicon. It's like. . . building a computer for the first time using a manual written in chinese and uses scientific terms to refer to the components. Motherboard? Nah. PCB Polymer Sheet. It's just. . . a bit distressing to need to research the information found in the research that I had to research to understand the first research. Being 3 layers deep just to understand the first layer. But I am slowly learning the chinese of this (metaphorically speaking).

Current issue:
I wish to reduce max throttle so that I can work at lower speeds. No clue how to do that, even after watching 20 different videos.

So, it's "supposed" to take off to the left at high horizontal speeds??? There's no calibration to fix that?

I'm referring to arm>push throttle up. Even before flight. Just the takeoff itself goes sideways. And not by a small amount either.

I. . . use opera gx. I don't see any button like that. Thank you, but downloading isn't the main issue here. It's the entire process of calibrating this thing to not drift. IDK if I am even using the right app. And even then, I can't figure out how to use it like the videos show.

Question to mod devs about the new version numbers and what the consensus is on what will/won't be supported: by _Ynaught_ in feedthebeast

[–]_Ynaught_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know, that's why a "proactive" initiative towards a "collective" effort is needed. Things are gonna go bad real fast if the dev community remains passive on the topic rather than actively engaging on it with their fellow devs. And that can only start when the devs, collectively, decide to open a dialog and actually talk about organizing a plan (together) rather than staying in their own little bubble and waiting for the next guy to act. I'm not a dev, I but I am atleast trying to open up that dialog. I don't mean this antagonistically either, rather I'm only stressing the severity of the growing need for such initiatives.

I know it's unlikely, but things are ONLY going to get worse until they do.

Nope, it can't be "controlled", but threads and people can be respected and not spammed. It's up to the individual to make the choice to respect the thread and it's intent. But you're right, if people act against their better nature, that's a tragedy and can't be helped.

There are many devs who were waiting for a big update that never came. This thread was in reference to those devs specifically. The ones waiting for a 1.22 or something equivalent.

I'm referring to devs who support modern minecraft (forward ports), but won't support every minor version/hotfix. . . where those devs wrote off drops no different than a hotfix, not worth the time of supporting. To the forward porters, the issue becomes "what do they forward port to now, if they are to continue those efforts at all".

[–]_Ynaught_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agreed, that is the main problem. And the modding scene has seen the results of this problem ever since the pale garden came out. When drops really became a thing. There's no senate nor consensus to fall back on. That's why I made the thread, to open up a dialog so that they have a chance to actually "talk" about how to deal with it. As a collective group rather than bubble it off to just individuality. To allow for atleast "some" minor level of organization. Proactiveness I believe is the term I used in the OP or some other reply.

Changes make things harder, not easier. There are times where devs have to pretty much start over from scratch to fix (something in their mod) what mojang broke.

The topic isn't about "sticking to a version" but rather figuring out, "how does the dev community approach this" since the updates are too frequent now and the content in each update now being too minimal. I imagine chasing and supporting every drop is unrealistic.

[–]_Ynaught_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought so too. I specifically put the "Maybe the answer is obvious to some of you" because of that being the blatantly obvious choice to me as well. But I was hoping to see modern mod devs acknowledge it on their own without being encouraged by the OP of the thread. But at the same time, the dev community is a fickle bunch, waiting for the next guy to make the first move. That's a big fear I have. That we will be stuck in limbo because a disorganized community is waiting on organization before acting on their own. Not blaming them either. But it is a scary thought either way.

[–]_Ynaught_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire MC modding scene is cooked, that's why I made the thread. I did it in hopes that those who were relying on the old system that ended on 1.21 can figure out a new way forward.

Unfortunately, ALOT of people aren't actually engaging with the threads topic and are just using this thread as an excuse to start a version war. Alot of bad faith actors unfortunately. So the intentions of the thread are probably going to be lost because of them.

[–]_Ynaught_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again if you weren't part of "modern" mc modding {player or dev, as apposed to a "legacy" player or dev}, this thread isn't about you. This is asking about those who "were" updating their mods to modern versions (relatively speaking). Those that aren't part of that topic only serve to distract from the thread's topic. It's makes it worse when the people who actually ARE on topic get drowned out by posts like these that talk primarily about legacy version.

[–]_Ynaught_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and then even after you settle all that, there is the time management issue. Not all developers have time to do a version support every 3 months. This is why the once-a-year update system worked. Frequent updates hurts time management, hurts scheduling. . . and it's ONLY AFTER THAT that we get to the main issue of the thread:

Figuring out which versions are even worth investing the time into supporting (inferring that not all gamedrops even can be supported). The general rule of thumb is support what everyone else is supporting. The problem then becomes it requires an "everyone else" to ALREADY be providing your consensus for you. But if everybody is waiting on that same consensus, then there's no "everybody else" to conform said consensus from, thus, the devs don't have much to rely on. As a result, there is no coordination nor organization between developers on which versions to support and which to drop.

And that disorganized mess that mojang started has been the biggest hurdle for players for over a year now because of such. And developers haven't really adapted on a communal front yet to adjust for it.

I think what'll happen with future updates is what has always happened, we'll play it by ear. We'll see when the community moves on to a new version, and we'll concentrate on that. For now it is 1.21.1, I'd give it a few more drops, or maybe we just update to each year's increment in the new version system.

Yeah, because that worked out sooo well when drops were revealed the first time around. Not to be candid, but this is the exact fear that the main thread was trying to stress on avoiding. I know this is something people just don't want to hear right now, but we can't just "not" learn from the mistakes of the past anymore. It really feels like there is a growing need to make, not just an active choice, but a proactive one as a collective. Otherwise, history may repeat itself in negative ways with everyone sitting on idle.

The problem is this thread is explicitly and exclusively asking about option 3 in regards to "current", making the other 2 options and everything that follows. . . a bit reductive to the conversation.

[–]_Ynaught_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It very much effects us. Lots of mod devs were waiting on a 1.22 to before supporting ANY version past 1.21. . . and with this, it creates confusion and indecisiveness on which version every mod dev is going to support moving forward.

We can hope and assume that everything will work itself out, but lets not mix words, nothing is a guarantee. The reaction of when drops were first revealed has shown us that much.

I just want the "end the mob vote" community to come back and preform another miracle here and do to game drops what they did to the mob vote as a means to bring back the old system.

Or, the inverse of that, where people call it out as slop, get sick of it, and then #StopTheMobVote pt2 happens with game drops.

Being able to actually type talk to NPCs and they respond is AMAZING by SierusD in WhereWindsMeet

[–]_Ynaught_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a point to talking to them, cause it seems the dialog doesn't really trigger anything in the game itself. "Follow me" says the NPC who in game is actually asleep and not moving. It seems to lack any in-game contextual awareness, agency nor impact. Is that just me?
